  1. The Sony 16-35mm was the very first lens I bought when I started my journey as a landscape photographer, and it has remained one of my all-time favorite lenses ever since! I chose this lens over the 14-24 mainly because I wanted a more practical setup for using filters, but also because reaching 35mm gives me much more flexibility. It allows me to capture portraits or tighter compositions without constantly switching lenses while out in the field. If you’re into landscape photography, I highly recommend having a lens in this focal range in your kit. Tamron also offers a 16-30mm f/2.8 for less than half the price! I’ll be testing that one on my next trip, so stay tuned!   2. Scenes from the shore of Slocan Lake, of the wildfire currently burning within Valhalla Provincial Park across from New Denver. Captured in the early hours of morning on July 25th 2024, while the glow of the fire lit up the thick smoke. The wind was so strong blowing along the lake, sending waves crashing into the shore. The flag pole and Canadian flag by the public beach were rattled fiercely by strong gusts, framed by the flames burning across the lake behind. As of last night, the evacuation order extended to include Silverton, and an area near the New Denver Golf Club because of the newly sparked Wilson Creek Wildfire. As of this morning (July 25th), New Denver is now under an evacuation alert. The RDCK is the place to stay up to date with alerts and orders. My thoughts are with the hundreds of people impacted by fire in the Slocan Valley, North Kootenay Lake, and in other communities within BC and Alberta. There’s so many people currently grappling with this fire season, the loss, and uncertainty. As always, the best place to stay updated is through BC Wildfire Service, and your local government channels. Signing up for Voyent! alerts is super simple, and a great tool to keep updated.

  3. planning your Temagami canoe trip 👇🏻 I’ve been super fortunate to paddle the Temagami region for the last handful of years, and I wanted to give you some incredible suggestions for the 2026 season Lady Evelyn River: Intermediate; would recommend a minimum of 6 nights/7 days to accommodate big-water travel and take in all the waterfalls! Plus you need reservations for some of this trip Wolf Lake + Chiniguchi: Beginner/Intermediate; would recommend 3-7 nights depending on the length of your route/ where you want to go.   3. This is an ongoing problem that occurs more often than you might think. People “seem” legit in their passion to walk a river or creek bank, and in this case, are looking to catch a beautiful Rainbow Trout. Unfortunately, they’re just out for the roe (eggs) in female fish, leaving the remaining carcasses… meat included, to rot. This is SO wrong and illegal!!! We are blessed to live in a country in where natural resources abound, so each and every one of us should show the utmost of respect and be thankful! Three points here: 1) Please catch and then release any fish that you don’t want to consume (3rd image above) 2) Catch, clean, and eat select fish that you desire (while abiding to local laws) 3) And lastly, call the MNRF Tips Line quickly if you see anyone up to illegal activities in the wild.   2. This audio make me want to cry... The past 5 years have been insane. I lost my best friend, my Dad, at the end of 2021 which most definitely has been the most challenging journey. I've had to say goodbye to multiple long term friendships. But, I've welcomed in new more aligned ones. I changed career paths multiple times and am finally where I want to be. I've moved. I've traveled. And I've definitely had some amazing experiences too. Got through a really weird world wide event... you know I'm talking about. I continue to work hard on myself to release childhood traumas, internal blocks and build my confidence & self esteem. I could go on and on. I feel like I could write a whole series of books on the past five years. Through it all, I've definitely grown so much and I'm proud of myself for that ♥️ How have the past 5 years been for you?
