Send this to that person you’re planning your adventures with this summer!🙌🏼⛰️🌅🏕️ 📍Peyto Lake Sunset or sunrise at Peyto Lake is a great way to avoid the crowds! One of the most beautiful viewpoints in the Canadian rockies and I had this spot pretty much to myself! Don’t forget to bring a flashlight or headland and your bear spray - there was a bear there just 5 minutes before I arrived! 📍Lake Louise Sunrise at Lake Louise is busy so if you are driving it is recommend to arrive before 6am or the lot may be full. Parking cost $36.75. The main shoreline area is usually crowded but if you keep walking along the shore, you can find a spot all to yourself. 📍Moraine Lake Cars are not allowed to park at the entrance so you will need to book a shuttle beforehand. To get the iconic view of the lake, hike the rock pile trail. It’s a short walk with 33 ft of elevation gain. #banff #canadianrockies #canada #explorecanada #peytolake #morainelake #lakelouise

Photographed last night (July 21st), as of today this fire is currently listed at ~400 hectares and is burning above the community of Argenta (the lights of which can be seen along the base of the mountain) within the steep terrain of the Purcell range.

  2. Scenes from the shore of Slocan Lake, of the wildfire currently burning within Valhalla Provincial Park across from New Denver. Captured in the early hours of morning on July 25th 2024, while the glow of the fire lit up the thick smoke. The wind was so strong blowing along the lake, sending waves crashing into the shore. The flag pole and Canadian flag by the public beach were rattled fiercely by strong gusts, framed by the flames burning across the lake behind. As of last night, the evacuation order extended to include Silverton, and an area near the New Denver Golf Club because of the newly sparked Wilson Creek Wildfire. As of this morning (July 25th), New Denver is now under an evacuation alert. The RDCK is the place to stay up to date with alerts and orders. My thoughts are with the hundreds of people impacted by fire in the Slocan Valley, North Kootenay Lake, and in other communities within BC and Alberta. There’s so many people currently grappling with this fire season, the loss, and uncertainty. As always, the best place to stay updated is through BC Wildfire Service, and your local government channels. Signing up for Voyent! alerts is super simple, and a great tool to keep updated.

  3. Soleil Joy Epp. ❤️ March - August 2024. Laurel and I excitingly found out a few months ago that we were gifted another child growing in her womb. At an early fetal assessment there was cause for great concern finding swelling around baby’s neck and body. After many tests we found out that baby tested positive for Down Syndrome. Hearing that news was hard but it gave us hope of life beyond pregnancy. Then a few weeks ago at another fetal assessment we discovered that the swelling had spread all over baby’s body and were told by the doctor that she wouldn’t live very long- also discovering a heart defect among other things. Throughout this pregnancy Laurel has had nausea and migraines sometimes becoming debilitating- especially when we’ve received harder news. Last week during a reprieve we ventured on a family backcountry trip as we have decided in this journey to celebrate life for as long as God has entrusted us with it. So we bought a colourful maternity dress did a photo shoot in the wilds of Nopiming Provincial Park, Manitoba. The day we got back from our trip, we had a midwife appointment and they couldn’t find a heartbeat- so we went to the hospital where it was confirmed sweet girl’s heart had stopped beating. Saturday we went in where we decided to deliver baby girl naturally and intact. We had a cuddle with her as well as a committal ceremony I led where we acknowledged our great God, remembering how Jesus defeated death to give us a real hope beyond our earthly grave. We released her back to her Creator where she gets to experience God’s original design for humanity and Creation. I’m so proud of Laurel for how I witnessed her trust God, celebrate and honour life, and for showing a strength truly astonishing as she laboured and delivered baby girl naturally knowing there would be no baby cries afterwards. The day we took this video may have been baby girl’s last day. What a way to end earthly life- on a family backcountry trip. Her name is Soleil Joy Epp. She was 25cms land 13.9 ounces. “Let the children come to me, do not hinder them, for such belongs the kingdom of God.” - the words of Jesus in Mark 10.
