20K/Women’s Day GIVEAWAY So why am I naked on a spin bike you ask? Great question… Four years ago, I took a similar photo and posted it on this feed. The company I was partnered with at the time asked me to remove it. They told me that a potential brand sponsor had asked us to remove it. In a moment of insecurity, I conceded and deleted the post. A week later, I found out that it wasn’t true – there had been no brand sponsor. The company was simply uncomfortable with the picture, with my queer, naked, androgynous body. For all the wrong reasons: fear, insecurity, self-doubt… I thought that erasing myself and being more “mainstream”’ was an inevitable compromise I would have to make in trying to achieve potential growth. Months later, I ended up understanding how wrong this all was and I reposted the photo and I shared the story here. In that moment, I realized that this online community was so STRONG. So supportive of my voice being heard and my message being shared. It changed the trajectory of my content on this platform. Sometimes feeling the support of a community can truly propel you into your strength. Y’all cheered me on and it was so EMPOWERING. It drove me to design a situation where I’m always FREE to say what I want, when I want, without needing anyone’s approval. I buy my own billboards and own my own companies. Four years later, I've retaken this photo as a symbol of our growth together. I’m so grateful for all of you. 🧠 𝐏𝐑𝐀𝐂𝐓𝐈𝐂𝐄 𝐌𝐀𝐊𝐄𝐒 𝐏𝐄𝐑𝐌𝐀𝐍𝐄𝐍𝐓 ⁣ Any athlete who has trained with me knows that I am a little fanatical about using proper technique/mechanics on our exercises…even the boring and seemingly less important warmup ones. ⁣ ⁣ As a young athlete myself I always subscribed to the notion that “practice makes perfect.” I worked extremely hard and always “got my reps in” whether I wanted to or not and even if I just banged them out mindlessly to make sure I ticked that “hard work” box ✅⁣ ⁣ When I began to study motor learning & Neurocognitive development I quickly learned that practice does NOT actually make perfect but practice does makes permanent. ⁣ ⁣ Keyboard warriors can go ahead and argue about the exact number of reps 🤦🏻‍♂️ but please focus on the concept here…⁣ ⁣ In his studies on motor pattern development and disruption, motor learning expert Richard Schmidt observed that the acquisition of a new motor pattern in a closed-motor skill generally required between 300-500 repetitions to induce neuro-plastic changes in the brain. ⁣ ⁣ Conversely, correcting a faulty movement pattern that has become ingrained can require between 3,000-5,000 reps to change!!⁣ ⁣ Coaching new athletes (and particularly young athletes) is an upfront investment of time with a big potential long term payoff… if you do it right. ⁣ ⁣ As a coach you should want your athletes to do it right for their sake…but if that’s not motivation enough for you then at least do it selfishly so that it doesn’t take you 10x as long to change those bad habits once that pattern is ingrained. ⁣ If it is worth doing, it is worth doing well! ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ 𝐀.𝐁.𝐂. - 𝐀𝐥𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐁𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 👊🏻

𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐎𝐒 𝐈𝐒 𝐅𝐔𝐍! ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ So much of what we do in the weight room is controlled, linear/uniplanar…and for good reason! It allows us to apply a greater and more controlled stimulus to the muscle and keeps us safe when handling heavy loads…but that in and of itself is not enough to prepare elite team-sport athletes. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Dancing through ladders and touching stationary pylons can definitely have a place in training as a reliable warmup tool, a rehab/prehab progression step or as basic general conditioning but REAL agility for sport requires;⁣⁣ reaction, mobility, balance, coordination, adaptability, visual tracking, spatial and body awareness ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ This is a little glimpse into one of the ways that we develop these qualities away from the actual sport itself. Like all of our training we will gradually progress this work to add more movement, greater speeds and greater challenges to overcome as we move along through the off season. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ This is also a great opportunity to highlight the work of my great friend and colleague Andre Talbot from @spiritloft a true movement guru! 23 years ago we were bitter rivals on the football field (well, actually I was the only one who was bitter as I spent most of the game chasing him around unsuccessfully)…then I had the honour of coaching him during his successful CFL career…then he became a full time coach here in our program until he found his true calling and opened up his amazing facility @spiritloft. Now he is a trusted resource and it fills me with joy to be able to collaborate together and provide these athletes with cool movement learning opportunities like this! ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Moving and adapting through chaos and finding a way to have fun while you’re working through it… good for sports and for life!

As many of my friends and family know, I have been on a journey of holistic health for over a decade. I spent many years learning and reading on my own, starting with Alejandro Jungar, to Anthony Williams, to religiously reading Weston.A.Price Foundation. These authors, healers and doctors made me realize the power of nutrition on our physical and emotional health and how we can truly change how we feel by modifying the foods we eat. When covid happened, I had a really hard time wrapping my head around the worlds reaction to a virus. Covid was a catalyst for change for me. I started to feel very bogged down by social media and realized I needed to revaluate where I spent my energy. So I decided to take a step back, get off social media, and direct my energy towards something I had control of and that was EDUCATION. I spent two years, reading, studying, taking night classes and 💯 determined to becoming a CNP and striving to make a meaningful difference in peoples lives. Today, on the 2nd day of Persian new year I got a special call from Jason, our campus manager/program coordinator, that I was graduating with first class honours and was also chosen by my peers as the valedictorian of the graduating class. What a way to ring in the new year! I don’t know how to put into words the emotions I am feeling! There is nothing more special than being recognized by your peers, and knowing you had a positive impact on a learning environment. Thank you to everyone who supported me on this journey, you know who you are ❤️ Most importantly, I want to thank my husband @alvibp who encouraged me to follow my passion and never give up on my dreams. As Hippocrates once said “let food be thy medicine and let medicine be thy food.” We only have one body, so treat it well, give it what it needs, and in turn it will take care of you ✨ 🙏

FYI: that’s not Me silencing you. I owe you nothing, including my time or wall space when it comes to supporting white supremacy and “freedom fighters”. ‼️ IF you claim you did your research, and STILL believe that this was about non-vaccinated truckers and “freedom”, then: either there is an inability to recognize your lacking research skills OR you admit to being of the same mentality. Either one is dangerous. ‼️ IF, you showed up and yelled “Freedom!”, held up signs or flags and NOW you are saying: “But, I didn’t know!”, all I can say is: Then you should have done a better job of educating yourself. 😢 The recent news of 5 year old Ava-Mae is heartbreaking. Sadly, since the news, there have been many inappropriate publicly posted comments questioning what happened. But, why? 👏🏽 I want to thank the parents who have reached out with general questions. You asked privately & respectfully. FYI: I don’t think any new details have been released. Focus should be respecting the family’s space while mourning. 👏🏽 I also, want to take this moment to recognize those parents who have shared with me how this news has made them feel. I can only imagine how hearing this news has made you look at your kiddos and wonder-what if? You’re not alone. Your fears are validated. This is not an uncommon reaction and thought process. 🩺 As a physician dedicated to Pediatric health and safety, the medical community has always been transparent about COVID in the Pediatric population. The truth is, COVID has become more prominent in the Pediatric population. The numbers are rising. ER visits are increasing. This is our current reality. ✔️ You have sacrificed a lot. ✔️ You have listened to public health. ✔️ Followed the rules ✔️ Got yourself & your kids vaccinated. ✔️ Masked up. ✔️ Minimized socializing. 😪 It’s been hard. All your sacrifices were effective. If you are feeling tired & apathetic, no one blames you. It’s been exhausting. On the flip side, if we hadn’t put in all the effort and dedication; we could have been in a worse situation much sooner. 👊🏼 You are doing the best you can and even if it’s not 100%, that’s ok. I want us all to stop and think about where we see ourselves, families, communities in a few months? 📆 For the coming months we need to shift back to the collective goal and urge everyone to: - Get your third dose (or help those that need assistance to get access) - Get your kids vaccinated (if eligible) - Minimize large gatherings - Minimize socializing if you have any sick symptoms - Mask up - Ventilate enclosed areas where you are spending extended periods of time 🙏🏼 I hope we can dig deep and find that energy and motivation again to lessen the impact on our kids and get us out of this pandemic, Dr. Tash 👩🏻‍⚕️🙏🏼 #strongertogether

My soul dog 🤍 For those who are unfamiliar with our story, I found Willa running on a remote part of the beach in Nosara, Costa Rica. She didn’t have a collar and wasn’t your typical looking stray so I scooped her up and planned to take care of her for the night, only thinking she was lost… I worked with the animal rescue there, but we couldn’t locate an owner. A Hoppy Easter indeed 🪺 We are excited to announce a new addition to our family - coming September 2023 ♥️ Almost at the half way point, I haven’t shared much about my pregnancy - although I am happpy to feeling back to myself, and we are all very excited to see our family grow! Navigating our own journey after losses, as well as working so closely with many fertility patients, has made me a little hesitant to announce. Not because I’m not happy, and not because I don’t want to openly share my own story, but because I want to be respectful of those struggling with their own fertility journey each and every day. I feel so grateful that I get to work with so many amazing women and couples, working towards their goals - whether it be preconception, fertility, pregnancy, postpartum, hormones, etc., and entrusting me to help achieve them! The last year has taught me more than I expected to learn, and although it was a time, it’s made me a more empathetic practitioner, one who feels driven to dive deep into the assessment and treatment, and bridge the gaps in the fertility world - helping more people grow and support their family. ♥️♥️♥️

🍰 Burnt top cheesecake 🍰 First post of 2021 and it had be this cheesecake from Fuwa Fuwa! This burnt top cheesecake is their Japanese rendition of the basque cheesecake which originates from Spain! The caramelization of the sugar on top gives it a burnt look, while the inside has a smooth and custardy taste. Very light yet creamy and satisfying. The perfect guilt-free indulgence! 😍 It can be eaten two ways: refrigerate and let sit in room temperate for 5-10 minutes, or freeze qnd let sit in room temperature for 30-45 mins for an ice cream-like consistency.
