  3. Week 4 – Performance. Ride the supercompensation curve! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Week 4 is for pushing the weight - Squats at 375lbs for 6 sets of 3 and deads at 460lbs! Last week was week 4 for my strength training but halfway through the week my back didn’t feel 100% and I was only able to hit my deadlift goal for 1 rep. Due to my recent injury, I decided to be cautious and ease back instead of pushing through; and after lowering the intensity for an additional week, my back feels great and I was able to hit the same weight. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ However, this last set from my most recent training is a good example of imbalances in my body (something that most people will need to deal with at some point during their fitness journey). As fatigue sets in and intensity increases it becomes more difficult to hold good form during your lifts, but it’s even more important during these moments that you have it. You can see that my left side dips and my right side compensates to lift the weight – something that I’ve been working on and will continue to work on in the near future (relax the right, strengthen the left). This is a concept I’ll go into more detail on in a future post. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ On a side note, while a lot of people deal with valgus knees (knees caving in) during squats, I believe I’m actually dealing with the opposite, varus knees (knees too far out). Although not as glaring an issue as valgus knees, varus knees can also lead to poor optimization of your biomechanics during the squat – something I’ll also touch on in a future post. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Time to repeat the same training block and continue to get in that volume before I move on to the next training phase! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #squat #strength #myodetoxperformance #toronto #torontofitness #toronto_insta #torontotrainer #torontogym #motivation #workout #training #exercise #gym #gymlife #torontofit #fit #torontofitfam #fitfam #fitness
