  2. Where or what is your quiet place? Regardless of me talking a lot when I have things to say, often, especially when in nature, I love to be quiet (except of pointing out all the amazing plants and animals and rocks and clouds). I breath fresh air deeply in and let it fill my lungs, my cells, my whole being. I am quite a master of being fully present when I am in the mountains, near the water source, under the tree or surrounded by blooming flowers on a meadow. On the other hand, I am a total disaster when in the city, at the festival or at the party (yes, I am one of those that can be found in a quiet corner with a doggie or talking to alike soul escaping all that buzz). When there's a lot going on and things get noisy, I get overwhelmingly nervous and I easily loose a track of who I am. At that moment, all I wish is being elsewhere. Or even better - being someone else, someone, who enjoys these places - oh, how my life would be easier when I could JUST enjoy those things!, I often think to myself🙈😅. 🍃 We live in a loud world where TV, music, and smartphones fill the void with white noise. Silence and solitude are broken by the buzz of technology while we call, text, and email to feel less alone. We don't feel comfortable being quiet, so most of the time we fill those precious silent moments with unnecessary words. However, how often do we take the time to sit and enjoy silence? A while ago I mentioned this documentary In Pursuit of Silence and I really really recommend it to everyone. 🍃 Evolutionary, our bodies and minds haven't had time yet to adjust to all the recent artificially created noise around us, therefore we must make an effort and go to our quiet and peaceful place, and feed our mind and body... whether it's in our room with no technology distractions or better - in nature, which is still the most natural place to be for us, humans. 🍃Silence and solitude give us the space to think, act, and play "catch up" with our mind, and can be very healthy for our physical and mental wellbeing. Some of the benefits that silence can provide us (all backed by science) is improving memory, helping to heal our bodies when sick, (continue in the comment below)

  3. I might be the only one with a bib number and a buckle here, but this race finish was definitely a team effort. I struggled early on with the altitude, and had trouble finding my climbing legs. The foot injury that took me out of the Eiger 100k last year also flared up about 50k in, but this time I was determined not to stop (read: I would not let a medic look at it). 😉 I was excited to pick up my 1st pacer @alpineheather15 at mile 49 after a long and fairly lonely day, but the night was pretty rough. Fighting sleepiness, managing injury and struggling to keep food down (even had a little puke, but not much of a rally). By the time the sun came up, I felt like a shell of a human, surviving on Tylenol and caffeine pills, begging to finally descend (and stay) below 2,800m. After a much needed reset at mile 68, I started feeling better, and could count on @coralcandleford to remind (ahem, force) me to eat every 20 minutes or so, and together we made our way through the final 32 miles, albeit a little slower than I would have liked. While I was in it, I felt like everything was going wrong, and I failed to see that I was actually doing just fine. In hindsight, I am happy with the outcome, and I am proud of how I handled the curveballs thrown at me over the course of those 34 hours. Big thank you to @highlonesome100 for putting on an absolutely world-class event on very challenging terrain. I have nothing but good things to say about each of the many volunteers I’ve come across, and I highly recommend this event to any runner looking to challenge themselves. Thank you also to our partners in this adventure; @lawswhiskey @arcteryxbc @fenixlight and @corosglobal. Your support means the world! Last but not least, thanks to @jpelletier for being supportive and encouraging as ever, and for filming, crewing and getting my pacers out on course (almost) always on time. 😉 photo credit: @mahting_putelis & @jchapell

  3. Fat Dog 120 Mile Race Recap🏔️ The experience of Fat Dog was in short, epic. I knew it was going to be the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life and it sure as hell lived up to that. Over the course of +124 miles / 200km and +8,000m / 26,000 ft of elevation gain, I was tested again and again—mentally and physically. I had no idea what it was going to be like running for almost 40 hours w/o sleep or how my body was going to hold up. My game plan going into this race was consistency and patience; taking this monstrosity of a course and breaking it up chunk by chunk—aid station to aid station, following my pacing plan, and staying on top of my hydration, nutrition, and salts. I embraced the beautiful moments, running in stunning single track scenery through Manning Park, and dealt with the dark ones. My pacers kept me positive—removing any thoughts I housed about quitting. We were getting this done no matter how long it took. While I experienced some nausea in the heat at higher altitudes, some moments of unbearable feet pain, and some inner ass cheek chafing that no amount of lube could really prevent, my body held, and I felt pretty strong throughout the entirety of the course. My crew gave me the VIP treatment at each major aid station which rejuvenated and re-energized me for the next stretch to come. The final climb up Skyline Mountain and the psychological torment of several false summits, was fucking treacherous, but at 185kms I still had legs so I power hiked it, and had enough strength to push hard down the final descent to the finish. My training paid off in dividends. I sacrificed a lot over the last 6 mos to prep for this race and had an incredible support system. @fatdog120 was 100% a team effort. My coaches @melboultbee and @aprilboultbee flew out from ON to crew + pace me for 50k and 60k respectively. My amazing girlfriend @brandymars.blogspot.ca was the best crew and emotional support I could have ever asked for. The volunteers were the absolute best and the event was outstanding. Thank you all for this once in a lifetime experience. I’m so grateful❤️ Finished in 38:29:52, placing 2nd female and 21st overall.
