  1. I'm so proud to announce the launch of Les Quatre Coins de l'Assiette, the food show I've been working on more or less for the last three years. This week it premieres on @icirctele (francophone CBC.) In the show we deconstruct dishes from chefs across Canada who care deeply about local food, and visit the suppliers, and community connections, that keep their restaurant running with the best ingredients. In the first season we learn from oyster farmers, winemakers, organic vegetable farmers, a flour miller, a shellfish diver and foragers, to name a few. Hosting a tv show was thrilling, nerve racking, and unforgettable; I couldn't have done it without the fun and supportive crew. I really hope you enjoy it! Season two in the works! • Here's how you can watch on TV locally and nationally, and on demand: ICI TÉLÉ ACADIE @ici_acadie (in the maritimes): in succession from Monday to Thursday at 630pm June 27 to July 7 ICI TÉLÉ RÉSEAU @icirctele (nationally): A double feature on Sundays 200pm and 230pm, from August 21 to September 11 ICI TOU.TV on demand in app: 4/8 episodes are live, more will follow soon. • Thanks to all involved! 2. Adult Buttered Noodles aka Spaghetti with Rosemary Brown Butter Beurre Monte, a mystery ingredient recipe challenge from The Dairy Farmers of Canada #ad @dairyfarmersofcanada try the slot machine for yourself, at holidairy.ca Canadian Dairy Farmers proudly meet some of the most stringent standards in the world when producing milk. Recipe: Serves: 4 Cooking time: 20 minutes Ingredients: 3 portions of spaghetti, cooked, approx. 200g 4 Tbsp salted Canadian butter 2 Tbsp Canadian whole milk or cream 4 shoots of rosemary, picked and finely chopped, about 5 Tbsp 3 garlic cloves, finely chopped or sliced 1 tsp chili flakes ¾ cup pasta water 4 Tbsp cold, salted Canadian butter 1 Tbsp honey parmesan and pepper to taste Method: Cook spaghetti in salted water until al dente, strain and set aside. Reserving ¾ to 1 cup of pasta water. In a medium size pan on low heat melt 4 tablespoons of butter, and add rosemary, garlic and chili flakes. This is the process of browning the butter. It is slow, and the purpose is to caramelize or toast the milk solids in the butter. Do not rush it or you will burn the butter and it will be bitter. Keep stirring the ingredients in the pan, and slowly you will begin to smell the infusing ingredients warm, and you will see the butter split, where the white bits become beige and then brownish. This toasting gives a hazelnut flavor to the butter, hence the french term for it “beurre noisette” aka nutty butter, or hazelnut butter. This process will take about 10 minutes. Whisk in the honey last. Once the butter is brown and toasted, set aside to cool in a small bowl. 1. A MUST experience in Ottawa restaurant. If you haven’t been to @pitabellkabab yet this is your sign! Wow. It’s a 10/10 Ottawa experience for me. The quality and value for price is top notch. I hadn’t been since 2019 and they’ve since moved to their new location which is beautiful inside. I’m so glad I finally went back. I highly recommend: 1. the Pita Bell Mix Family Platter ($89.99) and serves 5 people. We were a group of 4 and absolutely had enough left over for a whole extra meal, and we all left stuffed! The food is so good you can’t stop eating. The platter comes with 10 charcoal bbq skewers - 4 kabab (minced meat), 3 shish taouk (chicken breast) and 3 filet mignon steak skewers; so much incredible rice with almonds and raisins, salad, hummus, garlic sauce, and pita. And if you are a different size group, they have smaller and bigger options too. 2. Kunafa ($8.49) for the small can be shared with 2-3 people depending on how full you are. We were sooo stuffed from our kabab platter but couldn’t resist. 3. Tea pot ($7.99) this tea was so delicious! The staff showed us that in one pot is the tea concentrate, and the second pot stacked is the water to dilute it to your taste. It’s meant to be served with the dessert but we had it from the start of our meal and I really loved it together. 4. Lastly if you’ve never had the Turkish ‘cream soda’ Uludag Gazoz - I highly recommend trying this as well. 📍 1696 Carling Ave. Ottawa Pro tip: go with people you love and it tastes even that much better! This restaurant was recommended to me by @halalgirls613 wayyy back when we both started our pages in 2019 and it will always remind me of all the delicious places and foods (and more!) I’ve learned about because of her. #ottawathingstodo #halalottawa #ottawahalal #turkishcuisine #turkishfood #ottawaeats #turkishkebab #kebab #ottawafoodie #kebabs #613eats #ottawawest #halalfood #turkishrestaurant #ottawarestaurants #ottawatourism #ottawaontario #613food #ottawafun #ottawafoodscene #kunafa #letseat #foodstagram #exploreottawa

  3. Ottawa’s newest ramen shop just opened! Last Tuesday I was invited to @kintonramen ’s soft opening at their first Ottawa location on Elgin St. This Toronto ramen icon has finally landed in Ottawa. We loved their appetizers/sides and had two great big bowls of comforting ramen. Peep my recommendations below for your visit 👇 1. Do not skip the takoyaki and karaage (fried chicken). The takoyaki are buttery soft and melt in your mouth. The karaage comes in big fat chunks and is so juicy! We ordered the spicy version which is superrrrrrrrr saucy and not too spicy - highly recommend both of these. If you’re a less saucy lover, just ask for the sauce on the side or get the original :) 2. When ordering ramen definitely pick the thick noodle option. They just have a little extra bounce/chew and elevate the ramen experience. As for broth we tried the spicy beef (it’s a special at the moment) and the miso pork. I can’t recommend getting the spicy broth options enough. Whether it’s the chicken, pork or beef option, the heat just adds another delicious layer to the broth and a little itty bitty tingle. Yum. 3. Add a seasoned egg! Sooo perfectly jammy. A must. 4. Don’t skip the dessert. Simple but unique flavoured slices of cheesecake. We got the black sesame and yuzu. A great way to end the meal. Because it was soft opening they didn’t have any ramune sodas or special iced teas just yet, but they’ll be stocking them up soon and I would definitely add a lychee iced tea! 📍 216 Elgin St. I am working in p a i d partnership with the Kinton Ramen Ottawa location to support the marketing of this location. #kintonramen #idigelgin #ramen #ottawa #ottawarestaurants #ramensoup #ottawafoodie #ottawaeats #uottawalife #elginstreet #downtownottawa #takoyaki #karaage #ramensoup #myottawa #carletonu #613eats#ramenshop #japanesecuisine #ottawaeats #exploreottawa #ottawaramen #ottcity #karaagechicken #uottawa #noodles #narcityottawa

  1. FRIED CHICKEN!! Hot and honey + lemon pepper This was a collab of epic proportions!! Finally got the chance to cook with my brother @theheartbreakchef and the results did not disappoint. His award winning fried chicken is known throughout the city to be some of the best you can get anywhere and after watching this video you’ll understand why. Also shout out @merrysomers for the amazing fermented hot sauce used in this recipe. Recipe, 4 boneless chicken thighs 500ml buttermilk 20ml hot sauce 2 cup all purpose flour 1 tablespoon salt 2 tablespoons garlic powder 2 tablespoons onion powder 2 tablespoons paprika 2 teaspoons black pepper Pour you buttermilk over your chicken thighs with the hot sauce. Throughly mix and set aside in fridge for a couple hours to marinate. In a medium bowl mix all of your dry ingredients together to form the dredge for the chicken. When ready remove from buttermilk and throughly coat in the flour, don’t be shy. Shake off any excess flour and fry at 325 degrees for about 5 minutes per side depending on how large you thighs are. Lemon pepper; Mix together, 2 tablespoons coarse salt, dried lemon peel - 5 lemons worth, 1/2 cup ground black pepper, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, 1 teaspoon onion powder For the lemon peel set your oven to its lowest setting. Peel five lemons zest only and put them on a tray lined with parchment paper. Bake them very slowly until dried out completely. Blend in spice grinder. Enjoy! 👨🏾‍🍳👨🏾‍🍳 #friedchicken #lemonpepper #hotandhoney #buttermilkfriedchicken #hotsauce
