@justinpasutto It is with absolute broken hearts that we share our best friend Nacho has died. The MRI revealed a large inoperable tumor in his brain & Nacho had declined too far to explore radiation. His days were numbered & we knew we had to get him home. On late Thursday, we drove through the night from Vancouver to Kelowna … just the three of us, like how our little family story had started 11 years ago. We were trying to get Nacho home to say goodbye to the kids & Peaches. Live out his last days in his favourite place. Nacho passed away with his head on Jills lap & Justin’s hand on his back, an hour away from home at 4am. It was one of the scariest & heartbreaking but beautiful moments. He let out his last big sigh (something he did often and we loved) & said goodbye. Our hearts will never be the same & The last few days have been crushing. Nacho was much more than just a dog. He was a pup from Mexico with all the odds against him, a runt of the litter saved by Justin’s brother & delivered to us in July 2014. We had no idea what that gift delivered was going to bring us. From the streets of Mexico to Canada, to billboards in New York, to being featured on The Ellen Show, magazine covers, local TVs shows, his own instagram account, he amassed hundreds of millions of friends, we didn’t just love Nacho the world loved Nacho. He even went viral again just this final week of his life. For the last 11 years, he has been through those beautiful formative milestones of our family. Starting a family, helping raise our babies with love & play, adopting Peaches…our new life at the farm… He was woven into the fabric of who we are as a family. Nacho brought us so much joy, love & happiness and we are so overwhelmed with the thought of not seeing him again. He slept in our beds, he sat beside us while we worked all day. He travelled with us. He sat right by our feet in the kitchen. Despite tripping over him over and over, we knew there would come a day that we would miss it & that day has come. He had a heart as big as the world, His love was so strong. Everyone who met Nacho could feel it. His paws smelled like nachos He was our best friend. 💔

What a dream. We are still pinching ourselves and can hardly believe that the past week has actually been real life. We’re MARRIED!!! Now I get it - see the falls, do the touristy stuff by the falls but literally just go for a short drive/walk to eat. Here’s two spots that locals swear by in the area, right beside each other! @countryfreshdonuts 5076 Victoria Ave, Niagara Falls. Chinese-owned donut shop with everything from wonton soup to omelettes to of course, donuts. The entire menu is under $10. The real highlight here are the donuts, old school, well sized, huge variety and just $1-2 each. Everything we tried from the braided sugar donut to the apple fritter was awesome. Niko’s Place at 5125 Victoria Ave, Niagara Falls. A little window at the back of a parking lot. Cash only, Habs fans stay clear it’s a Leafs fan zone lol. The haddock and chips is very good and I was ecstatic they had the giant spray bottle of malt vinegar. I suggest upgrading to the poutine, quality across the fries, gravy and curds. My ideal meal? Niko’s haddock + poutine, end with Country Fresh donuts. Let me know what other spots are worth trying around the Falls area! Details on how to get one, sells out FAST ⬇️ @tt_supermarket has changed the grocery store chicken game - I’ve only ever seen rotisserie chicken on offer before! Their new Papa Crispy Chicken is a $12 whole fried chicken available at ALL locations across Canada. I don’t think there’s more affordable fried chicken anywhere else in the city. It’s bathed in a garlicky marinade and comes with a spice mix to sprinkle on top for extra flavour. Shockingly crisp and juicy because they make these in batches and it sells out FAST, so it’s almost like it’s made to order. Here’s my tips for grabbing this elusive item: - If you can, visit your nearest T&T during off-times - As soon you as you get in, go to the prepared food T&T kitchen area and check. Toronto/GTA cheap eats Ep. 4! Details ⬇️ I am sharing a new cheap eats spot every week, so make sure to hit follow if you want to see more. My only criteria when picking spots are 1) you can eat a filling meal under $15 pre-tax and pre-tip 2) the food is genuinely delicious. This spot is @bhkroll, located underground in College Park at 444 Yonge St in downtown Toronto. Go to the intersection of Yonge/College, at the Southwest corner by the Tim Hortons you will see a TTC entrance. Go through the doors, take the escalator downstairs and once you turn right, the food court where BHK Roll is located will be right in front of you. Below is everything we ordered that I recommend trying: - $7 paneer tikka potato cheese roll. My favourite. Vegetarian. Breakfast item, not available at all times. - $9 Bombay club sandwich + masala chai combo. $7.50 for the sandwich alone. Vegetarian. - $11 Chicken kathi roll. Meat is halal! - $11 Ghugni, the regional vegetarian stew. Served with paratha. I paid for what we ordered but chef kindly offered this to try. It’s Indian mom & dad approved. They say they would happily come here from Mississauga - VERY rare, usually it’s the other way around for Indian food! There’s only 2 restaurants in Edmonton where you can get pasta in a cheese wheel! 🍝 For the longest time, it was only Violino but @bianco.yeg recently introduced their Pasta Wheel Wednesdays. Every Wednesday after 5 pm, you can order the Cacio e Pepe which is prepared in a cheese wheel right beside your table. It’s not on the menu so it’s more of an IYKYK kinda thing. The pasta is $24 and can feed 2 people because of how much there is. We also shared an appetizer on top of that. We enjoyed the pasta but wish that it had a bit more flavour to it. Overall, still a unique concept and I’d recommend trying it out — Wednesdays only!

There’s a new spot in Edmonton for soup dumplings! 🥟 @mr.bun_yilong just opened up on Whyte Ave. It’s where Top One used to be — they’ve rebranded and the food has improved a lot from before. My visit was hosted. They now specialize in xiao long bao (soup dumplings) which are handmade from scratch. You can watch the chefs make it. One of the chefs actually worked at a Michelin one star restaurant in Hong Kong! These dumplings are filled with pork and soup broth. It tasted good but I noticed that some dumplings had more soup than others. Feedback was provided to the restaurant. Other items I tried: • Red oil wontons — Reminded me of the spicy wontons from Din Tai Fung. Quite flavourful from the sauce and had mild spice. • Signature scallion pancake — The dough was chewy and flaky, but it needed more scallions. • Handmade noodles with fried pork steak — This was a noodle soup and the pork was served on the side. Noodles were quite soft. My favourite item were the soup dumplings but it’s nice that they offer a lot of variety on their menu! When I went, it seemed that there was a wait so keep that in mind.

This is the newest hot pot restaurant in Edmonton! 🔥 @shooloongkan_edmonton is located inside @official_wem upstairs near Simons. Their soft opening is on Thursday, October 17 at 3 pm. I was invited for a hosted meal during their friends & family night. Shoo Loong Kan is a hot pot chain from Sichuan. The name means “Little Dragon Ridge.” 🐉 I liked the decor a lot - I felt like I was in Asia! It’s a la carte and the hot pots are meant for sharing. In terms of pricing, it is higher priced than others. You can get 1, 2, or 3 broths. We had 3 broths — traditional, tomato, and pork. The traditional broth is very spicy. I stuck to the pork broth since I have a very low spice tolerance. 🥵 For the meats, I felt that the quality was comparable to other hot pot restaurants. My fave was the beef tongue. For the fancy meat lovers, they have A5 wagyu from Japan. They also offer an unofficial shrimp peeling service. At the end of your meal, you get complimentary ice cream!

A MUST experience in Ottawa restaurant. If you haven’t been to @pitabellkabab yet this is your sign! Wow. It’s a 10/10 Ottawa experience for me. The quality and value for price is top notch. I hadn’t been since 2019 and they’ve since moved to their new location which is beautiful inside. I’m so glad I finally went back. I highly recommend: 1. the Pita Bell Mix Family Platter ($89.99) and serves 5 people. We were a group of 4 and absolutely had enough left over for a whole extra meal, and we all left stuffed! The food is so good you can’t stop eating. The platter comes with 10 charcoal bbq skewers - 4 kabab (minced meat), 3 shish taouk (chicken breast) and 3 filet mignon steak skewers; so much incredible rice with almonds and raisins, salad, hummus, garlic sauce, and pita. 🥟 Ottawa’s FIRST Xiao Long Bao restaurant is now opening in the Byward market. First of its kind and the grand opening is happening on Feb 10 on lunar new year day. 🥢 Xiao Long Bao are soup filled dumplings with a thin wrapper and it’s typically steamed. Dip it in vinegar and chilli oil and it’s a pair made in heaven. We tried a lot of the soup dumplings and our favourites were the pork and coriander, truffle and pork, shrimp and pork were all our top faves. Ottawa’s newest ramen shop just opened! Last Tuesday I was invited to @kintonramen ’s soft opening at their first Ottawa location on Elgin St. This Toronto ramen icon has finally landed in Ottawa. We loved their appetizers/sides and had two great big bowls of comforting ramen. Peep my recommendations below for your visit 👇 1. Do not skip the takoyaki and karaage (fried chicken). The takoyaki are buttery soft and melt in your mouth. The karaage comes in big fat chunks and is so juicy! We ordered the spicy version which is superrrrrrrrr saucy and not too spicy - highly recommend both of these. If you’re a less saucy lover, just ask for the sauce on the side or get the original :) 2. When ordering ramen definitely pick the thick noodle option. They just have a little extra bounce/chew and elevate the ramen experience. As for broth we tried the spicy beef (it’s a special at the moment) and the miso pork. I can’t recommend getting the spicy broth options enough. Whether it’s the chicken, pork or beef option, the heat just adds another delicious layer to the broth and a little itty bitty tingle. Yum. 3. Add a seasoned egg! Sooo perfectly jammy. A must. 4. Don’t skip the dessert. Simple but unique flavoured slices of cheesecake. We got the black sesame and yuzu. A great way to end the meal. FRIED CHICKEN!! Hot and honey + lemon pepper This was a collab of epic proportions!! Finally got the chance to cook with my brother @theheartbreakchef and the results did not disappoint. His award winning fried chicken is known throughout the city to be some of the best you can get anywhere and after watching this video you’ll understand why. Also shout out @merrysomers for the amazing fermented hot sauce used in this recipe. Recipe, 4 boneless chicken thighs 500ml buttermilk 20ml hot sauce 2 cup all purpose flour 1 tablespoon salt 2 tablespoons garlic powder 2 tablespoons onion powder 2 tablespoons paprika 2 teaspoons black pepper Pour you buttermilk over your chicken thighs with the hot sauce. Throughly mix and set aside in fridge for a couple hours to marinate. In a medium bowl mix all of your dry ingredients together to form the dredge for the chicken. When ready remove from buttermilk and throughly coat in the flour, don’t be shy. Shake off any excess flour and fry at 325 degrees for about 5 minutes per side depending on how large you thighs are. Lemon pepper; Mix together, 2 tablespoons coarse salt, dried lemon peel - 5 lemons worth, 1/2 cup ground black pepper, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, 1 teaspoon onion powder For the lemon peel set your oven to its lowest setting. Peel five lemons zest only and put them on a tray lined with parchment paper. Bake them very slowly until dried out completely. Blend in spice grinder. Celebrated my man’s bday at @juneoncambie . Been hearing about this place since their opening in April. And it’s been the talk of the town since with fully booked reservations every night! I managed to snag a Tuesday dine in at 7:30pm with high anticipation going into it since everyone has been raving about their pasta with French butter 🧈 . We purposely ordered a bunch of dishes to try so we can get a feel of everything and I REALLY wanted to love this place but unfortunately it fell short for me. . Atmosphere and vibes were great. Like Cinnabon but better! Here’s a sneak peak of a few of the pro-tips shared: 1️⃣ Don’t overheat your milk: Aim for that sweet spot between 105-115ºF. Too hot can kill the yeast, and we want those rolls to rise to perfection. Pro tip: A simple tip is to dip your finger in the milk – it should feel warm, similar to warm bath water but not hot. If you warmed it up too much, simply wait a few minutes until it cools down enough to touch. Patience is key! 🛁 2️⃣ Room temp egg magic: Ensure your egg is at room temperature. Cold eggs can mess with the yeast and create funky butter reactions. Quick fix: To bring your eggs to room temperature simply place them in a bowl of warm water for a few minutes. 🥚✨ 3️⃣ Knead it right: Whether using a mixer or going old-school, resist the urge to drown your dough in flour. It’s an Italian Summer on James St North 🇮🇹 @bonitos.pizzeria is a wonderful addition to the street. They’re serving up authentic Italian Roman-style pizzas, homemade gelato and coffees. I know we have a lot of pizza in Hamilton and maybe you’re skeptical about another pizza joint but dang…they know how to make a good slice. I had the Calabrian Heat. (San marzano tomato, mozzarella & provolone blend, spicy calabrese salimi, red onion, black olive, parm, hot calabrese honey). It was unbelievably tasty. I was so impressed! Might just be one of my new favourite pizza spots. I also tried the “Cafe Freddo.” It’s a delicious iced-espresso drink. Highly, recommend checking them out! Dine-in or enjoy their patio.

@rudyresto is changing the smashburger game in Burlington! 📍3121 Appleby Line, Burlington RUDY is a beloved burger joint from Toronto. I’ve heard a lot about them in the foodie community and I was so excited to try! We got the poutine, Big RUDY, Rude Dude, The Valentino ( friend chicken sandwich) and the Banana pudding + Brownie Banana pudding. Everything was genuinely to die for. This is the second time I’ve visited and both times the food has been excellent. If you’re a fan of Smashburgers, I highly recommend giving them a try!

L'épicerie est rendue trop chère (comme absolument tout en 2024) alors quand j'ai vu qu'il existait des boîtes de fruits et légumes à bas prix, il fallait que je teste ce service! Il s'agit de @oddbunchcanada et c'est un service de livraison de boîtes de fruits et légumes imparfaits aka pas assez cute pour être vendus en épicerie. J'ai eu tout ça pour 32$! J'ai passé ma commande et 4 jours plus tard, j'ai reçu ma boîte. NO CONTACT DELIVERY, BABY. Les frais de livraison étaient de 4$. P.S.: Selon le site web, toutes les livraisons sont programmées automatiquement pour chaque semaine, sauf si vous décidez de sauter la semaine ou de mettre à jour la fréquence (faut le faire manuellement).
