  1. The Tacos That Will Save Your Life: 1. Start by seasoning your salmon. Dab it down with a paper towel, drizzle with 1 tsp olive oil. Season with a pinch of salt, pepper, 1 tsp paprika, 1 tsp garlic powder, 1 tsp chipotle powder, & about 1/2 tbsp chili lime seasoning. Rub it in well. Pop it in the oven or air fryer at 400F for 11-12 mins. Remove and flake with a fork. 2 To make the slaw, finely shred 3 cups of purple cabbage. Add to a bowl some shredded carrot, and a handful of chopped fresh cilantro. Dress with olive oil and ACV. 3. Time to make-a the sauce🤌: In a mason jar add 3 tbsp mayo, 4 tablespoons thick greek yogurt, the juice of 1 large lime, salt, pepper & 1/2 tsp chipotle powder. Shake it up, taste, then pour half of the sauce over the slaw. Reserve it for the tacos. 4. Make a simple guac by mashing together 2 large avocados, 1 finely minced garlic clove, the juice of half a lime, and a generous pinch of salt/pepper. Mix well, taste, and adjust. 5. Finally, char your favorite tortillas. I used ancient grains here. 6. Then assemble your tacos up. I started with the special sauce, topped with a tablespoon or so of guac, a tablespoon or so of salmon, some ‘slaw, and topped with fresh cilantro. 7. A Hoppy Easter indeed 🪺 We are excited to announce a new addition to our family - coming September 2023 ♥️ Almost at the half way point, I haven’t shared much about my pregnancy - although I am happpy to feeling back to myself, and we are all very excited to see our family grow! Navigating our own journey after losses, as well as working so closely with many fertility patients, has made me a little hesitant to announce. Not because I’m not happy, and not because I don’t want to openly share my own story, but because I want to be respectful of those struggling with their own fertility journey each and every day. I feel so grateful that I get to work with so many amazing women and couples, working towards their goals - whether it be preconception, fertility, pregnancy, postpartum, hormones, etc., and entrusting me to help achieve them! As a dietitian that has experienced an eating disorder (ED), bringing more awareness to eating disorders, disordered eating and promoting a healthy relationship with food is something that I am passionate about. Growing up, these topics weren’t talked about much within my community. Today, awareness around eating disorders and disordered eating has improved however, there still remains a gap in education and research, along with misconceptions and barriers to treating Indigenous peoples with ED’s. The focus on physical health concerns can often takes precedence over addressing mental health issues which may be one reason why ED’s can be overlooked or underdiscussed. Not only that, but there are also obstacles that Indigenous peoples face when it comes to ED’s including stigma, treatment barriers, culturally competent supports, systemic racism, and implicit bias. There are many factors that influence the risk of developing an eating disorder including, trauma, food insecurity, diabetes, and western beauty standards. Often times engaging in eating disorder behaviours is not about the food, many times it’s about thinking we can feel more in control, and it serves as a way to cope with negative emotions or feeling overwhelmed with certain aspects in life. Eating disorders have an impact on the mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual aspects of health. It is important to remember that eating disorders do not affect a specific type of person with a certain body size or background. They can affect anyone.   2. Tomorrow is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. The last residential school closed down in 1996 and there is a connection between food and reconciliation which is something that is not talked about too much. Nutrition has played a large role in negatively impacting Indigenous health however, it also has the potential to be used as a tool for healing and reconciliation. The World Health Organization has recognized colonization as the most significant social determinant of health affecting Indigenous peoples. While we are starting to see positive changes for moving towards reconciliation related to Indigenous health and revitalization of Indigenous foodways, each of us play a role in advocating for change.   3. I’ve never really talked about this topic on here before. I come from a mixed background, my dad is Cree and my mom is Mexican. I grew up in Maskwacis, but outside of living there, I didn't have much connections to my Native heritage. Growing up going to an urban school, I often heard negative stereotypes about Native people, and as a kid who just wanted to fit in, I chose not to engage with Native culture. I felt closer to my Mexican heritage, my mom spoke Spanish, cooked traditional dishes, and played the music, novelas, etc. With my Native side, I didn’t learn Cree, traditional foods, or practices like hunting, fishing, or gardening. I wasn’t involved in ceremonies or community events and had few connections outside my family. Something shifted when I became an adult. I wanted to understand my heritage, connect with it, and be more involved. Learning Indigenous history as an adult, including residential schools, the starvation experiments, and how Indigenous kids were used as test subjects for the first food guide, opened my eyes to how much I hadn’t known. I started by listening, learning, and experiencing, and the more I learned, the more I saw how much support and access is still needed in Native communities when it comes to health and nutrition, and I wanted to be part of that change. This is just a small but meaningful part of my story and my path

  2. This is such a hard post to write. Our worst nightmare came true this morning, we had to make the devastating decision to say goodbye to our sweet boy, Stanley. Stanley was only three years old. From the moment we got him, we knew something wasn’t quite right. After seeing our vet and later a neurologist, he was diagnosed with hydrocephalus and eventually epilepsy. For a long time, it was manageable. We did everything we could, medication, monitoring, specialist care, and he continued to live a happy, loved life. Over the past six months, his seizures became more frequent. Three weeks ago, he had a very serious episode, and we adjusted his medication, hoping it would help. Tragically, last night Stanley experienced prolonged seizures that his little body just couldn’t recover from. Despite emergency care and every possible effort, his brain had suffered severe damage. Our hearts are completely shattered. Being away and unable to be there to say goodbye is something we are still trying to process. We are beyond grateful to our dear friends who loved him, stayed with him, and advocated for him every step of the way when we couldn’t be there. Stanley was never alone. If you met Stanley, you knew how quirky, sweet, and affectionate he was. He brought so much love and joy into our family in such a short time. This all happened so quickly, and right now we are struggling with the shock and the lack of closure. We take comfort in believing that he is finally at peace, free from seizures, pain, and confusion, and reunited with Marley and Prada. Rest easy, sweet Stanley.

  3. New Balance Nationals Indoor 2026 Mia, I am so proud of you. Proud of you for making it to this level and for stepping on that line with so much courage. Even when things felt hard and the race didn’t go the way you hoped, you still showed up, you still followed through, and you still finished. That says far more about you than any number on the clock ever could. This weekend reminded me why I love sports so much, especially when it’s hard. Sports asks a lot of young athletes. It teaches them how to handle pressure, disappointment, and the reality that they are not always going to feel amazing or get the outcome they hoped for. Especially in a sport like running, where everything can feel tied to a number on the clock, it can be easy to let performance shape self-worth. But that’s also where some of the greatest lessons are. Sport teaches resilience. It teaches humility. It teaches persistence. It teaches young athletes how to keep showing up, keep learning, and keep moving forward even when things don’t go their way. We’re finally home after 12 hours in the airport and 3 flights later. Now it’s time to reset, recover, get your foot checked, and refocus. More than anything, Mia, I’m just so proud of the girl you are, and grateful to have shared this experience with you. 🤍

  3. It’s a long journey to any start line of a marathon. It takes a lot of hard work, dedication and immense support from others to get to that line healthy and ready to compete. Special shout out to @newbalance for giving me this opportunity to race and the ongoing support throughout the years. The World’s largest marathon holds a special place in my heart. From the incredible race organizers, volunteers and enthusiastic crowd support, this was one fun party through the five boroughs of NYC. As we started out on the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge, I was running side by side with @lannimarchant chasing the lead womens pack. That moment of gazing at the city in awe will forever be in my memory. Lanni quickly pulled ahead a few kms in (to end up finishing 11th!) and I found myself running solo until about 20 km when @obbirru and @jojofoshosho0 joined me. We worked hard together with tons of encouragement from @obbirru all the way to Central Park and that was one of the many things I missed about racing; athletes genuinely supporting each other to run their best. @nycmarathon did a fantastic job of bringing back this iconic race after covid. Congratulations to all who were fortunate enough to cross that finish line in Central Park.
