  2. Said goodbye to a good one today. Sage was dealt more bad cards than most cats. Her stubbornness and resilience carried her further than even I expected, but it recently became apparent that I was just trying to avoid the inevitable. My tears today aren’t so much tears of sadness, for we both gave each other a lot of joy and comfort and that’s something to be grateful for. Instead, they’re tears of relief that she’s no longer in pain. This place won’t be quite the same without you, Sage. I love you. Ingrid and I will miss you terribly. XO

  3. Hi everyone! Meet Lou! The stars aligned and I found a friend for Ingrid much sooner than expected. ‘Cindy Lou’ is a three year-old tabby gal that was found abandoned outside with her kittens in late December. They all found homes and then only she was left. I figured that Ingrid, having been a teen mom found on the streets herself, would have plenty to teach Lou about how great it is to have a happy place to call home. I obviously had to change her name (this town’s only big enough for one Cindy) so I went with Lou. She’s an absolute delight and her and Ingrid are moving through the stages of new cat introduction at a steady pace and I expect them to be best buds in no time. ☺️

  3. This is my friend and colleague Rana. She is one of the strongest people I know. Rana’s husband, Dr. Ehab Bader a London paediatrician and Neonatologist has been trapped in G a z a over the last 43 days. What was supposed to be a quick trip to visit his ailing parents turned into a nightmare. He has been volunteering in the hospitals since October 7th. We’ve all seen a small glimpse of the horror that he has experienced first hand. We can only imagine his grief. The fact that it’s taken our government 43 days to get him on a “list” is infuriating while Canadians from the other side were out in days. Ehab is a prominent member of our community and we are praying for his safe arrival home. Rana is from G A Z A . Her pregnant sister, along with all of her children were killed in an airstrike in 2014. On October 7th her brother and cousin were killed. She has multiple family members trapped under the rubble. Her younger brother is dealing with leukaemia and has not been able to get a treatment in over six weeks as the cancer centre was demolished. Her childhood home, her neighborhood, her university, everything she knows is destroyed. Read that again. I’m only touching on a sliver of her story here. I’m in constant admiration of her unwavering faith and patience. When you see us share about Palestine, understand that we are not just sharing random people from “overseas.” They are someone’s family members, their bloodlines, their memories. This atrocity affects the people who live peacefully amongst us. Your neighbours, your service providers, your co workers. Their families are being wiped out and we can no longer bear to see this suffering live on screen. Please keep them jn your prayers. Growing up I definitely never thought about mortgages, let alone getting a career in it. 🤓 👧I wanted to be a lawyer (to be fair, I was 3 years old and didn’t know what it even meant) 👮 Then a cop or in the army. 🏃‍♀️ Then a sport psychologist (for Boxing Canada 🥊) I genuinely wanted to help 💛 people in a meaningful way, but all those roles ultimately weren’t for me in my heart. When we met our mortgage broker, I was amazed because they weren’t just looking at income and debt and going to rubber stamp my application with a big ✅ green approval or ❌ decline. As they went through and asked questions, like: ❓Do you have kids? ❓ Do you want more? ❓ Do you have an RESP set up? ❓ Do you have insurance? ❓ Do you have savings? ❓ Do you owe money on taxes? ❓ Do you have a will? And they, with no pressure, just offered us options which ultimately: 💛Saved us significantly on income taxes 💛Helped us remove credit blemishes we didn’t even know existed (and fast) 💛Explained why in our instance it was better to buy a house a bit higher in private range than the starter home we wanted for 2 years - and broke down the numbers 💛Connected us with someone for information on a will and investments when we were ready for that. And, even though I grew up with a RBC Bank 🏦 Manager in my house, I am not ashamed to say - I had zero financial knowledge as a young adult.And I think the world would be much better, if we financial literacy was a top priority in math class, and less calculus (although that was my favourite high school subject, thank you Mr. Acton!) And recently we had a deal that warranted it (they funny enough were the first people to message me after this was posted) and it warranted the facts being *strongly* re-presented.
