  2. The craziest place I’ve ever stayed👇🏻 If you’ve ever wanted to sleep on the side of a cliff… this one’s for you. Welcome to @OVOPatagonia, just outside of El Chaltén, Argentina. Getting there isn’t exactly casual. You hike up the mountain, get welcomed with drinks + a full charcuterie spread, can shower if you want (last chance before the domes)… and then it’s time to gear up. You’re provided with a harness, helmet and a personal guide to get you to your own private dome! And once you’re in… you’re in. No leaving until morning. But you have everything you need in the three story dome: food & water, a bathroom, cozy sheets and robes, a walkie talkie to communicate & insaaaane views of Fitz Roy in Patagonia! It’s a little scary & surreal but 100000% one of the coolest experiences I’ve ever had.   3. everything we did in Patagonia in April👇🏻 Ok so, the biggest lesson we learned in Patagonia is: book as much time as you possibly can there because the weather is insane. It rained for 6 of our 9 days in El Chalten and we were afraid we weren’t going to see anything! Finally got a weather window and omgggg, it was amazing. Plus going in the fall means, less crowds, easier camping permits, colorful trees (the coolest trees) and slightly cheaper accommodations. In total we were there for about 22 days across the Chile and Argentina side from late March into early April! El Chaltén, Argentina: • Laguna de los Tres at sunrise • OVO Patagonia Via Ferrata Hotel (!!) @ovopatagonia • Laguna Cerro Torre (my favorite) • Laguna Capri • Camped at Poincenot Camp • El Chaltén sign • Sunrise 5 miles outside of town on the main road (rent a bike or grab a cab SO worth it) Puerto Natales, Chile • The cutest little town (also your gateway to the park) • Cold plunge in the Last Hope Fjord • Stay at a ranch: Estancia Peninsula • Took the bus from Puerto Natales to El Chalten Torres del Paine National Park, Chile: • Base of the Towers hike • Mirador Condor (best views) • Explora Hotel boardwalk • Ice hike on Grey Glacier • Do the W Trek (stay at Paine Refugio or Grey Sector) • The stretch between Grey & Paine = unreal • Ferry across Lago Grey Ferry across Lago Pehoé lmk if you have any questions!   2. Well….the post I was putting off for a few days. I’ll keep it short, simple, and 💯 I was extremely disappointed that I failed to make the Olympic final last week. I felt confident and ready to go heading into Tokyo. It just wasn’t my day and I just wasn’t ready to compete with the worlds best. Never an easy pill to swallow. But I found the sun came up the next day and life goes on. I’ll have a few races left on the schedule this szn that I think you guys will be excited about.   3. As I watched spectators trickle into Jesuit HS warming up last night, I was immediately overwhelmed by the turnout and interest this race sparked with only a 72 hour notice. For the first time in my career I put myself out there on my intentions to get after a record and I felt a little vulnerable. A very fast American Record. When I crossed the line and saw 3:49, a mark over 2 seconds slower than my goal for the night, a mark that hundreds or thousands of people from all over came to watch me break, I felt a sense of disappointment. I wanted to give everyone who came out and tuned in a historic night. I realized I wanted it more for them than for myself. While gathering myself, I was surprised to hear cheers and a loud applause. Did they not see the time? As I jogged around and thanked everyone who came out to make last night a special one, I found myself wanting to say sorry. Sorry for not giving them an American Record that I felt I had promised, but they wouldn’t let me. Instead they told me how proud and excited they were by my attempt. Of my willingness to put it out there, and that they were rooting for me in Tokyo. It was the send-off I didn’t know that I needed. I am proud to represent this country and these fans because nights like this make me remember how much track & field and its fans have given me. Damn, I love this sport.

Camino Francés 🇪🇸 🇫🇷 780 km ~ 485 miles | 30-35 days | info 👇 The Camino Francés starts at the border of France and Spain in either Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port on the French side or in Roncesvalles on the Spanish side. Starting in Roncesvalles will save you a day, but starting in Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port means you’ll experience the trail’s most mountainous day and begin in France. The Camino de Santiago actually has many routes, as pilgrims throughout history would make their way from home all the way to Santiago de Compostela in Galicia, Spain.   3. DAY 1 Hiking the Camino de Santiago! St. Jean Pied de Port —> Roncesvalles 15.80 miles 4,741 feet of elevation gain. It was a rainy morning as we started our walk into the Pyrenees mountains.   2. Are you bringing stuff you don’t need? Most beginner backpackers make the exact same mistake on their first trip… They pack WAY too much stuff. It seems harmless while you’re standing in your living room packing your pack. Then you’re three miles into the hike carrying what feels like a small refrigerator up a mountain. When I first started backpacking I showed up with: • an 85-liter pack
• multiple hiking outfits
• a giant first aid kit
• way more food than I needed
• and plenty of “what if” gear About halfway up the first climb I was literally crying. The good news? Most beginner backpackers can make their trips way easier by simply bringing less.   3. These are totally normal, right? One of the things that surprised me the most about hiking alone was realizing how many things I thought were “just me” were actually completely normal. Things like: * Talking to myself on trail * Checking my map…again and again…and again! * Feeling nervous at the trailhead, even when I knew the trail * Second-guessing my plans halfway through my hike * Feeling confident one minute and then unsure the next I used to think these moments meant I was cut out for hiking alone or that I was doing it wrong. But over time, I realized that they were all just part of the experience. Not signs that I was doing something wrong, but signs that I was learning, growing and paying attention. If you’ve ever felt any of these things on a solo hike, you’re definitely not alone..and you’re probably doing this whole solo hiking thing better than you think. 👉 Is there anything that you’d add to the list?
