  1. more information and details 👇✨ When I was trying to figure out the best way to get from SLC to Reno, @quingable recommended I take the train! I honestly forget this exists half the time because the few times I do look, it’s usually $. This time around, the price of a private room with a lay flat bed was going to be cheaper than flying and the timing lined up way better! Plus since it’s overnight, it doubled as my accommodation + transportation. This is an Amtrak train and I booked my ticket on their website. The price of my room was $219 and that included my bags and breakfast. I brought a 30L backpack and my snowboard bag. Even though the room I had was able to fit two people, you would definitely be squished. There are larger rooms available as well for more $. Overall, I found it to be worth it! It was a fun experience, I didn’t have to drive, and I didn’t have to worry about flying with my board bag. I did end up booking Coach for the return train from CA > Utah and documented that experience as well :) I have take coach before from NE to Chicago years ago as well! #solofemaletraveler #amtrack #lifeontheroad #sleepertrain

  2. Well….the post I was putting off for a few days. I’ll keep it short, simple, and 💯 I was extremely disappointed that I failed to make the Olympic final last week. I felt confident and ready to go heading into Tokyo. It just wasn’t my day and I just wasn’t ready to compete with the worlds best. Never an easy pill to swallow. But I found the sun came up the next day and life goes on. I’ll have a few races left on the schedule this szn that I think you guys will be excited about. I’ll be posting about them in the coming days & weeks. For now, the last slide is my mood heading into Pre Classic next week.   3. As I watched spectators trickle into Jesuit HS warming up last night, I was immediately overwhelmed by the turnout and interest this race sparked with only a 72 hour notice. For the first time in my career I put myself out there on my intentions to get after a record and I felt a little vulnerable. A very fast American Record. When I crossed the line and saw 3:49, a mark over 2 seconds slower than my goal for the night, a mark that hundreds or thousands of people from all over came to watch me break, I felt a sense of disappointment. I wanted to give everyone who came out and tuned in a historic night. I realized I wanted it more for them than for myself. While gathering myself, I was surprised to hear cheers and a loud applause. Did they not see the time? As I jogged around and thanked everyone who came out to make last night a special one, I found myself wanting to say sorry. Sorry for not giving them an American Record that I felt I had promised, but they wouldn’t let me. Instead they told me how proud and excited they were by my attempt. Of my willingness to put it out there, and that they were rooting for me in Tokyo. It was the send-off I didn’t know that I needed. I am proud to represent this country and these fans because nights like this make me remember how much track & field and its fans have given me. Damn, I love this sport.

I underestimated the terrain, intentionally testing my limits and learned exactly where they are. Wet mud + low clearance + FWD is a quick way to get stuck. Lesson learned, and hopefully this helps someone else avoid the same situation. Leaving designated routes can damage the forest and surrounding habitat which in turn creates road closures.   2. Hatchling Florida Softshell turtles first ever swim! These were 3 of about 8 babies that were found. They had just hatched out but were in the road so we helped them cross to the water. Finding freshly hatched turtles on or near roads can be a common occurrence, as the shoulder of the road can often provide good nesting habitat. Adult turtles sometimes nest on road shoulders as they can have loose gravel, direct sunlight, and are usually elevated-all factors that help with digging a nest and egg incubation. Although this environment helps eggs hatch, it can unfortunately put the young in a dangerous situation as once they do hatch, as they might end up in a busy road. So here we helped these little ones make it safely to the water. #softshellturtle #turtles #wildflorida

  3. Swim with a small cottonmouth a while back. As you can see, they do not chase people or have any interest in humans for that matter. Young cottonmouths like this one have vibrant colors and are sometimes confused with copperheads, but as they grow up their colors will fade into more of a darker uniform color. Cottonmouths often swim on the waters surface like this, but they are also completely capable of diving underwater and will do it to hide from threats and forage for food. #cottonmouth #snake
