  1. more information and details 👇✨ When I was trying to figure out the best way to get from SLC to Reno, @quingable recommended I take the train! I honestly forget this exists half the time because the few times I do look, it’s usually $$. This time around, the price of a private room with a lay flat bed was going to be cheaper than flying and the timing lined up way better! Plus since it’s overnight, it doubled as my accommodation + transportation. This is an Amtrak train and I booked my ticket on their website. The price of my room was $219 and that included my bags and breakfast. I brought a 30L backpack and my snowboard bag. Even though the room I had was able to fit two people, you would definitely be squished. There are larger rooms available as well for more $$. Overall, I found it to be worth it! It was a fun experience, I didn’t have to drive, and I didn’t have to worry about flying with my board bag. I did end up booking Coach for the return train from CA > Utah and documented that experience as well :) I have take coach before from NE to Chicago years ago as well! #solofemaletraveler #amtrack #lifeontheroad #sleepertrain

  2. Well….the post I was putting off for a few days. I’ll keep it short, simple, and 💯 I was extremely disappointed that I failed to make the Olympic final last week. I felt confident and ready to go heading into Tokyo. It just wasn’t my day and I just wasn’t ready to compete with the worlds best. Never an easy pill to swallow. But I found the sun came up the next day and life goes on. I’ll have a few races left on the schedule this szn that I think you guys will be excited about. I’ll be posting about them in the coming days & weeks. For now, the last slide is my mood heading into Pre Classic next week.   3. As I watched spectators trickle into Jesuit HS warming up last night, I was immediately overwhelmed by the turnout and interest this race sparked with only a 72 hour notice. For the first time in my career I put myself out there on my intentions to get after a record and I felt a little vulnerable. A very fast American Record. When I crossed the line and saw 3:49, a mark over 2 seconds slower than my goal for the night, a mark that hundreds or thousands of people from all over came to watch me break, I felt a sense of disappointment. I wanted to give everyone who came out and tuned in a historic night. I realized I wanted it more for them than for myself. While gathering myself, I was surprised to hear cheers and a loud applause. Did they not see the time? As I jogged around and thanked everyone who came out to make last night a special one, I found myself wanting to say sorry. Sorry for not giving them an American Record that I felt I had promised, but they wouldn’t let me. Instead they told me how proud and excited they were by my attempt. Of my willingness to put it out there, and that they were rooting for me in Tokyo. It was the send-off I didn’t know that I needed. I am proud to represent this country and these fans because nights like this make me remember how much track & field and its fans have given me. Damn, I love this sport.

Here are 4 methods you might consider: 1. **Compost Tumbler**: This off-ground method requires a balance of green and brown materials. It’s contained and easy to turn. 2. **Vermicompost**: Think of this as having pets! It needs careful maintenance and a suitable temperature range. Note: Avoid adding citrus or onions. 3. **Bokashi**: Although I haven’t tried it myself, this method is beneficial for composting meat, bones, and dairy.   1. As most of you know, Brenda and I do a lot of hunting together. Every time we get back I am always blown away about how well she does. A while back we wrote a series of articles for the Hunting Wire on couples who hunt together. As we wrote those articles it was evident that I had something real special going on…God has blessed me with a soul mate that is tough as nails and loves partnering with me on so many of life’s adventures. Last week’s backcountry mule deer hunt was another for the books for the two of us…and I hope there are many more.

  2. We were riding our horses out to sheep hunt when we spotted this lone wolf a few hundred yards out from us in the willows. Seconds later, I had dismounted, pulled the rifle from the scabbard and taken a quick shot before he vanished. This adult male predator was located just a couple miles away from a breeding ground for sheep where we saw numbers of ewes and lambs bedded alongside the mountain. Proper management of wolves in these game-rich environments truly help the populations of sheep, moose and caribou flourish for years to come. I must say that tagging my first wolf was one of the highlights of my time in the Yukon!

  3. I present to you a matching set of rifles I just had our custom shop build for my upcoming African Safari in 6.5-300 and .416 Wby Mag. On this flag day I want to give a shout out to all the American manufacturers out there who are employing great American workers and cranking out quality products. These Weatherby Mark V’s were made by our loyal and dedicated team members in Sheridan, WY. The @leupoldoptics scopes were made in an incredible facility in Beaverton, OR. Another family business in Grand Island, NE is represented in the 416 banded solid @hornadymfg bullets while the all copper option for the big bore came from the Mona, UT @barnesbullets factory. For the plains game set up, I’ll be shooting both the @swift_bullet_company Scirocco bonded bullet made in the farming community of Quinter, KS as well as the lathe turned all copper @hammerbulletsco projectile made in beautiful Kalispell, MT. Most of our gun powder used comes from another third generation family business, @hodgdonpowdercompany from Shawnee, KS with our primers from @federalpremium in Anoka, MN who will be celebrating their 100th anniversary this weekend. And to carry around these beautiful rifles with high grade Claro Walnut stocks cut in Santa Rosa, CA from the same mill we’ve been using for over 50 years, I’ll be using a locally made leather sling from @kingropesofficial located on historic Main Street in Sheridan, WY. It is here in America that we can still find and celebrate the creativity, craftsmanship and skill put into amazing products such as these. If it weren’t for this land of opportunity, a poor farm boy named Roy Weatherby from Kansas would have never made his way to California to start our family business 77 years ago.
