  1. Raven Cliffs Falls is a favorite hike in the Helen, GA area right next to Dukes Creek Falls (do both in the same day). The video doesn’t capture the beauty. Roughly 5 miles round trip through a lush valley with Mountain Laurel and Rhododendrons. This must do hike follows a beautiful stream with many waterfalls along the way until you reach cliffs with a unique waterfall shooting right through it (and another waterfall behind it that the video didn’t capture). A rock scramble can take you to the top of this waterfall if you choose, most people end their hike here though. You will have a stream crossing at the very beginning of the trail but there is a log that you can cross on if you have good balance. Nature at its finest! 📍Helen, GA 🥾 5 miles RT 🐶 Pups allowed 🏕️ Amazing campsites along the trail 💲Fee area ($5) 🚻 Bathroom at trailhead

This is a beautiful corner of Georgia 🌄—Route 136 offers sweeping mountain views, and Monument Rd opens up to even more stunning vistas. 📍 Tobacco Pouch Trail (Fall Creek Falls) is a less-traveled hike—perfect if you’re looking for some solitude. It’s about 5 miles round-trip, located near Dawsonville, just 1.5 hours north of Atlanta. You’ll need either a land pass or a hunting/fishing license to access it. 🐾 Dogs are allowed, but expect a workout for both of you! 🥾 The trail is strenuous for most: downhill on the way in and all uphill on the way back. Though it begins on a forest service road, the rewards are huge—winter views through the trees, tangled mountain laurel, and one of the best waterfalls in Georgia. 💧 You’ll cross a few streams (all manageable), before reaching the 60-ft Fall Creek Falls, tucked deep in the Chattahoochee National Forest. Fun fact: Fall Creek Falls is part of a rugged watershed that feeds into the Etowah River, a historically important river for both the Cherokee people and early settlers of North Georgia.

It is a short kid friendly hike. There is a lot to explore in Lakemont, one of our favorite areas of Georgia. 📍Lakemont, GA 🥾Only a 0.4 mile hike RT 🚗 1.5 hours from Atlanta 🛣️ Very well maintained dirt road to get to it - easy!
