Korleis det ville kjennast etterpå. Men der låg også noko anna – ei nysgjerrig kraft som var sterkare enn frykta. Slik ho ofte er hos meg. Eg hadde lova meg sjølv noko, i ei tid då eg kjempa meg gjennom sjukdom: Viss eg klarer å kome meg gjennom dette, kan eg klare alt eg vil. Eit løfte eg framleis ber med meg, og som ofte er det siste vesle dyttet eg treng når noko kjennest skremmande. For motstanden mot opplevingar, utfordringar og møte – den sit i hovudet. Kroppen vil. Kroppen kan. Eg gjekk og bada aleine den dagen. Ingen heia-rop. Ingen forventningar. Ingen som dytta meg uti. Eg kjende ingen andre som dreiv med isbading. Det var berre meg, vatnet – og valet. Og eg smilte heile vegen heim. Gleda var enorm. Eg hadde gjort noko eg aldri trudde eg kom til å gjere. Og eg hadde gjort det heilt av meg sjølv. For meg har badinga blitt eit ritual. Ein måte å nullstille kropp og hovud på. Ei påminning, gong på gong, om at eg kan. Badinga bygde ein sjølvtillit som sakte, men sikkert fekk ringverknader. Plutseleg var det ikkje berre det kalde vatnet eg torde møte. Eg byrja å utfordre høgdeskrekk på tøffe klatreturar, sove aleine ute under open himmel – heilt utan veggar, heilt utan tryggleiksnett – og ein dag stod eg der òg, framfor fleire hundre menneske, og heldt mitt første foredrag. Alt heng saman. Når du ein gong har kjent på kroppen at du kan gå rett inn i det som skremmer deg – og kome ut sterkare – då flyttar grensene seg. Ikkje fordi frykta forsvinn, men fordi trua på deg sjølv blir større. Eg håpar du finn di eiga måte å utfordre deg sjølv på. Å stå opp for deg sjølv. Å gje deg sjølv meistring. For det er lite som slår den kjensla, når du tenker med eit smil: «Fy søren, eg gjorde det!!!» #isbading #coldplunge #norway

  3. Seven lessons to start mastering landscape photography! With @casaramoon / "I moved to Italy at 17 as an exchange student for my last year of high school, which sparked my curiosity about the world and comfort with solo travel. Six years and 25 countries later, I graduated from university and moved to Seattle. A friend took me on a hike close to home, and it was the first time I had ever seen an alpine lake with a snow-capped mountain. I started hiking every weekend, first with just my iPhone, and after about six months of posting on Instagram for friends, I realized I wanted to be able to capture those moments even better. So, I bought my first camera in January 2019, and everything changed: 1) I found a community that inspired me daily: real-life friends with the same hobbies. Building a community of like-minded individuals can provide inspiration and support, enhancing your photography journey. 2) I learned going at sunrise creates a magical soft light that I fell in love with and wanted to capture. 3) I started noticing the little things hiking and always aim to capture the “perfect moment.” 4) The number one ingredient for a great landscape photo is a clear subject that draws the viewer’s eyes in. Natural landscapes can be busy and almost messy, but using shadows and light and focusing on one main subject can create something magical. 5) The other three main ingredients are shooting around sunrise or sunset when light is best, being patient and waiting for the right moment, and visualizing the desired end result, both shooting and editing. 6) My main focus when editing is enhancing the image to make a more magical and vivid display of what I saw in real life. 7) The two things I focus on the most are color balance and proper contrast. Having warmer tones in the highlights and cooler tones in the shadows really brings balance to the image." @casaramoon: What other valuable lessons have you acquired while transitioning from an amateur to a professional? 📸
