  1. “Haddon Hall is definitely challenging to capture. Not only are the levels of light very low in most rooms except for the Long Gallery, there are almost no straight angles in the whole place! In a building of this great age, the floors are uneven, the walls are askew, and pretty much every door and window frame has shifted slightly over the centuries. But of course, that is all part of Haddon’s unique and wonderful beauty, and only adds to its charm. It is also noticeable how the light inside changes so much from one season to the next.   3. In the foothills of Kinder Scout, the highest peak in the Peak District, you'll find the steep steps of Jacob's Ladder, leading to or from the village of Edale. It's a bit of a tricky trek whether you're going up or down, but it's always lovely to rest awhile in this pretty spot at the bottom, where a 17th Century stone bridge spans the River Noe. The bridge is a Grade II listed structure on what was once an important packhorse route over the moorland between Hayfield and Edale, used from medieval times into the 18th Century. At its narrowest point the walls of the bridge are only 27 inches apart. This is a really special place to me as it's one of my very first memories of the Peak District, when my parents brought me here as a small child to climb Jacob's Ladder. Holiday review: Bella Italia, Lake Garda If you are looking for a budget friendly holiday with loads to do and places to explore, then I would highly recommend this fantastic @eurocampholidays The first thing that appealed to me was that car hire is not needed. Bella Italia is only a 20 minute taxi ride away from Verona Airport and only 2km away from the nearest town of Peschiera. The resort itself is big and we chose to stay in this comfortable safari tent, which is Eurocamp’s cheapest accommodation option. It was also literally only a one minute walk from the lakeside beach. We are happy in tent accommodation, but there are plenty of lodge options if canvas isn’t for you! One thing Bella Italia is know for is its huge pool complex. It is so much fun with water features and slides for big and little kids. Also, to keep the kids happy, you will find a kids’ club and a mini fairground. Our favourite thing was the lakeside beach. It felt amazing to swim in the warm, clear, fresh water and we loved the paddleboard and pedalo hire, which was very reasonably priced. I am not the type of person to stay in one place, so we did plenty of trips too: We took a boat from peschiera to Sirmione, an absolutely stunning Garda town where we visited the waterfront castle, are gelato and fresh lemonade (and I got a bit of a taste for Aperol Spritz) The kids really enjoyed visiting the zoo, Parco Natura Viva, where we were able to spend all day exploring and playing. There is a safari option too, if you do decide to hire a car. I couldn’t go to this part of the world and not go to Venice. We took the train, which was clean and easy to navigate, and enjoyed a beautiful day in this bucket list city. And, oh my word, the food. I had so many delicious meals and the kids were more than happy with all of the pizza and pasta. I had assumed Italy would be expensive to eat out but, to be honest, it was cheaper than eating at your average UK chain restaurant. #eurocamp #campingineurope #campingwithkids #safaritent #lakegarda #budgetholiday #familyholiday #soloparenttravel #wildhoodadventures #review

  3. Lumiere, the UK’s leading light art biennial is back in Durham from 13th-15th November with 26 installations lighting up the city and wider County Durham area. The pieces range from large scale commissions by renowned international artists to community projects made by people from Durham. I was invited along for preview night. I would recommend getting their early and downloading the Lumiere app for the latest information. If you don’t have a ticket, you still don’t have to miss out. Half of the installations are outside of the ticketed area, including at Locomotion in Shildon which is area a 25 minute drive from the city centre. If you are travelling to Durham City, car parking will be extremely busy. I would advise making use of the park and ride bus services which are open later than normal and running more frequently for the event.   2. Tomorrow marks five years since I became a solo homeowner and received the keys to my first home. Five years since I opened the doors to my first home, alone, and questioned how I’d ended up here, when less than two years earlier, I’d been purchasing a house with a long-term partner. Five years on and I can still remember, so vividly, the way I felt those first few weeks. Excited. Scared. Worried. Empowered. Lonely. Unsure what the future would hold. A lot has changed in the last five years, but today felt like a good time to reflect on the lives I’ve lived since that day. I’m so proud of that girl who made a difficult decision at the time, to move past what she thought she wanted, and move forward with her life (quite literally).   3. A couple of months ago, I shared that I was feeling incredibly burnt out, after going all in with the summer plans of ‘25, and that it had affected both my physical & mental health. Two months on & I’m feeling a lot more human, but some of the symptoms of burn out are still there, which is why the adventures have been a little slower lately. Burn out is no joke, which is why I’m trying my hardest to find ways to slow down (just a little) so that I don’t end up feeling like I did in the summer again.   1. Is this the most insane thing I’ve ever done? If you can find the hidden entrance to this old slate mine in mid Wales, you will ascend on an out of world experience Think long dark tunnels. Flooded chambers creating the deepest, clearest underground “lakes” Follow the train tracks and you’ll find the old mining carts and abandoned cranes 800 feet inside the mountain Unless you know where you’re looking the entrance to this Walking Dead world is easily missed (I walked past it the first time!) Eerily quiet. Insanely dark. And so so spooky!! Being the cold water and quarry addict I am, despite probably my better judgment and advice from everyone else, I was 100% swimming in here I spend around 3 hours underground and didn’t even explore half of what this amazing mine has to offer. I came across 5 lakes whilst I was here... Some of which were so deep you couldn’t even see the bottom! The ladders here are super sketchy with some sheer drops in parts. Head torch is definitely a necessity here. And whilst I went alone I’d strongly advise going with company * To add I am fully aware of the dangers of getting into the water here. This isn't a reel telling people to do the same. I'm just sharing an adventure I had that I bloody loved 🩵

  2. Remember my last underground adventure.... Where the Internet lost its mind. Well, I thought I'd give you all another reason to panic They said it was dangerous, reckless, stupid. Well who am I prove people wrong. Here we go again... Crawling through a 10 meter water overflow pipe takes you into this overgrown and flooded slate mine in Wales. Follow the water logged tunnels and you'll come across multiple flooded underground chambers forming icy lakes The ecosystem in this mine was something else. Growing in the middle looked like what could only be described as a rainforest! Jumping into my favourite kind of water.... Deep and icy cold. This reel is not for your 13 year old brothers (if you know, you know... And if not you're going to have to check out the comments on my last underground reel for all the bants!) There's something magnetic about the unknown. And yes I know the risks. I'm also choosing to ignore them. Wild swimming underground?! That adrenaline buzz is too much for me to pass up on So do your worst.... Insane, maybe. Living my best freaking life? Absolutely!!

  3. Plot twist : the sky won 🧡 Arriving at the base of Tryfan to be told by hikers on the way down that we had missed the cloud inversion as it had all blown over Half way up the North Ridge scramble and we could see the cloud starting to roll in. The summit disappeared and then before you know it we broke through the cloud to see the most epic inversion The cloud kept rolling in thicker and thicker creating the most perfect backdrop for sunset What was meant to be a short climb to then head off to a second mountain for a wild camp turned into a 7 hour hike... With the majority of that time just sitting watching the sky change from blue, to orange, to pink to a deep red Descending South Ridge in the dark (thank God for torches!) and arriving back at the car to make the decision to sack off the wild camp and spend another night in the Tentbox. Am I mad about missing a wild camp? Not when the reason was the stunning A sunset so unreal it felt like the world inverted! The best early birthday present I could ask for!

Equinox and Red Sky: The equinox marks the first day of astronomical spring - although weather forecasters tend to refer to meteorological spring which began on 1 March. The equinoxes happen in March and September when the Sun is exactly above the Equator, which makes day and night of equal length.   2. The view westwards from the Malvern Hills 🌳 I've seen these hills so many times from a distance but never actually walked up them until now. It's not difficult to walk up to the summit as there's a number of prepared trails to follow. Given these hills stand quite prominently in the area, they offer suberb views all around.
