  3. This is slightly different post to the usual. You’ll note there’s no food in sight, but there IS an INDIE. A bloody fantastic one at that. 👏🏼 I was invited to go have a bra fitting @thepantryunderwear and I was, no word of a lie, really anxious about it. It turns out, I had no reason to be. Eloise and co were so lovely and welcoming and the shop really is the safe space that Eloise intended. She measured me up (my top remained on) and spoke through the four different fit points I need to look out for. 📏 I complained that I didn’t like wearing underwire bras - turns out I’m just wearing the wrong fit, because the ones I was given to try on all fitted and felt perfect. 👙 What I found really amazing was, of all the bras I tried on that fit, they were all different sizes. And what’s even more amazing is that every one is logged on your own profile as a ‘successful fit’ - ready for you to go back to later (without having to remember the sizing!) 📝 All the staff are trained fitters - none of this waiting around for Julie who is on annual leave for a week. They accept walk ins, appointments and even do virtual fittings.   2. Fig & almond galette for two ♡ I was going to quickly fold the pastry over the edges and pop it in the oven. But, after seeing Aimee's @twiggstudios incredibly beautiful blueberry pie, I was inspired to make something a little extra special. I wrapped two fig leaves (like a hug) and covered almonds with almond shortcrust pastry, a layer of frangipane hidding under the figs. Then glazed it all with fig compote. I'm hoping there'll be a small slice left to tell the story. But Boston has unexpectedly punctuated my academic career 🎓 and helped me to step back and recognise my own progress (it is very easy in academia to not see the wood for the trees 🙄) 🌟 I got my A Level results on holiday in Boston, in fact using MIT wifi. I had turned 18 just two days before! 🌟 I then returned to Boston on a greyhound bus some three years later during my undergrad year abroad studying at McGill. Yesterday Matthew and I officially become owners of a house in Italy — a home we hope will welcome family, friends, and maybe one day host small, soulful yoga retreats. ☀️For those who know us, you’ll know this has been a dream for a very long time. It’s been a journey of setbacks, obstacles, and tears. But now, standing here, I believe this is exactly as the dream was always supposed to be ☀️The house has sat empty for two years, waiting quietly after the previous owner moved into care. Once a working farmhouse with fields of olives, vines, and vegetables, she is now overgrown, underloved, locked up and dark ready to be opened up and new life breathed into her. ☀️She’s not perfect—she needs a lot of love. She doesn’t come with the classic Italian postcard views or total peace and quiet. But she offers so much: space, soul, possibility Oh the possibilities….. ✨ From the bedroom, we can see the sea, and just beyond the trainline lies and road, a hidden, pebbly beach, calm and inviting a delicous seascape waiting to be explored. To the other side, a wooded hill leads up to Torre di Palme—one of the most beautiful villages I’ve ever visited . All just minutes away. ☀️It may not be everyone’s dream—but for us, it’s the start of a wonderful new chapter. A place that’s already teaching us a different rhythm, a new way of being. We’ve got 18-24 months of renovation ahead, and I know it won’t be easy.   1. 📍Jack’s Gelato, All Saints Passage. @gelatojack More ice cream for a VERY hot Sunday! 😍🍦 This time I tried two mini scoops of ‘Blackcurrants & Cream’ and ‘Cinnamon Biscuit’ 🤤 The blackcurrant was suuuuper refreshing and fruity, full of real fruit pieces & with a bold flavour that took me right back to my Ribena-chugging childhood. I’d love to see this as a ‘swirl’ flavour through a vanilla style base to really get the ‘cream’ element shine. And the cinnamon. Ohhhh lordy this was SO GOOD. It has a beautiful sweet cinnamon flavour and is absolutely packed with yummy chunks of biscuit which are nicely soft / not too crunchy.   2. 📍The Gastro Maestro, @the.gastro.maestro (gifted) FOOD WORTH GETTING MESSY FOR 🤪🤤 This week the lovely Jack from @the.gastro.maestro offered to cook me some grub in anticipation of his new food truck coming soon! 🤩 I got to try: 🌟🍔 The ‘What Came First’ Burger — Brioche bun, buttermilk chicken thighs, locally sourced bacon, shredded lettuce, homemade pickles, buffalo sauce, and the star of the show: salted duck egg yolk sauce. 💭 Well, DAMN. Forget a simple fried egg, it’s all about that crazy egg yolk sauce!! A little goes a long way and packs such a unique umami flavour which combines with the crispy, fresh chicken in the BEST way possible. The ratios were great, too. That was one seriously good burger! 🌟🍗 Buttermilk Chicken Wings — Coated in a secret house blend of flour, breadcrumbs, herbs & spices. 💭 The insides were succulent and moist whilst the coating was crispy and packed with flavour. Whatever secret blend that is, it’s GOOD. 👏🏻 🌟🍟 Rosemary Salted Triple Cooked Chips — With potatoes and rosemary fresh from Jack’s garden! 🤩 💭 The flavours here were fantastic: the rosemary was bold and the crunchy salt made them SO moreish 🤤 Due to delivery time and additional photoshoot time, the chips had unfortunately lost most of their crispiness, but Jack was really open to this feedback and together we’ve discussed methods of packaging etc to ensure the chips stay as fresh and crispy as possible in future. It makes such a difference when feedback is taken with an open mind! Big respect🤞🏻 🌟🥕 Homemade Coleslaw & Pink Pickles 💭 Really nice and flavourful. A great pop of freshness to compliment the wings! 🌟🥫A selection of sauces including a zingy buffalo sauce, creamy cheese sauce, and a mad hot salsa made with jalapeños, poblanos, red chilli and sweet yellow peppers. 💭 You could deffo taste the freshness in all of these!   3. 📍Crosstown Doughnuts, Cambridge. Today I FINALLY crossed over to the dark side, and damn did it taste good 🤤 It’s been a long while since I last went venturing for food, and even longer since I’ve eaten a doughnut, but the stars seemed to serendipitously align today to send me on a quest to Crosstown Doughnuts. Back when they first came to Cambs, there was quite a commotion about whether they were worth the hype (and hefty price tag 👀). As fellow foodies turned head to head, I of course made plans to visit and taste for myself, but we all know that life has a habit of turning up at one’s doorstep unannounced to get in the way of everything. Finally, though, I shall grace you with my verdict: Absolutely 👏🏻 sensational 👏🏻 I tried the vegan Dark Chocolate Truffle doughnut and it blew my lil’ mind. I know I’ve been living under a rock for a while but I had NO IDEA that ring doughnuts could have filling inside?! So whilst I was more than content with the thick layer of rich chocolate ganache on the top, I was quickly left in AWE of the rich chocolate truffle filling that came oozing out of the soft dough 🤯🤤 It was truly delicious, with a fantastic amount of filling / good ratio to dough. Despite the name, the chocolate was actually not too dark or bitter and had a surprising amount of sweetness to it. It’s exactly like a chocolate truffle. I’m currently turning towards a more plant based diet, but whatever your preferences are, this flavour is a strong contender. Crosstown doughnuts are made with sourdough, which last year some people said turned dry easily, but in my experience (eaten approx 1hr after purchase) it was super fresh and bouncy with a lovely pastry-esque taste. It was slightly chewier than regular doughnuts, but that only made the bliss last longer. Wishing everyone well, wherever you are & whatever you’re up to. I’m slowly starting to feel more like myself, especially with a day like today. Cracking out the champers because I got a new job! 🥂🥂 I'm moving on from @visitcambridgeofficial to take on a new role as Promotions and Communications Manager at the @bikeabilitytrust It's been strange to apply, interview and be accepted for a new job during a pandemic.   1. Hello 👋🏼 For #NationalDrinkWineDay I thought I'd introduce myself to the new followers who have joined me recently! I'm Heidi and I like drinking wine! Or, rather, tasting wine. I don't actually drink as much as it might appear from my posts! I'm more often tasting a glass here and there, or opening a bottle of wine and enjoying it over a few days. 🍷 I'm learning about wine and sharing wine posts here just for fun! It's my hobby 🥂🤓 and I don't have any formal wine qualifications. I used to work in food and drink, including running pop-up bars - which I very much enjoyed choosing the wines for - but I'm happy to be back on the consumer side these days. I'm in a wine club - the SLL Club with @winewithhannah - and explore my love of food and wine pairing at monthly tastings. 🍇 Viticulture is an area of the wine world I'm particularly interested in and I've been lucky enough to help pick grapes at my local vineyard's harvests. Working with plants is my day job, so maybe one day I'll take my green fingers to the vines instead... 💛 I'm big into English wine right now and I'm especially excited about the fantastic English still wines starting to be produced here. In particular one of my wine loves: Chardonnay. To sip or spit, that was the question 🥂😝 As a relative newbie at a professional wine tasting this week, I have to admit this was weighing on my mind but I soon felt right at home tasting the wines of East Anglia being showcased by @palatecomms. And, if you're wondering, I did a bit of both! I do love East Anglia, my home region, and I'm so happy to see it thriving as a wine producing region. Winemakers at the event spoke of locations and settings familiar to me; I could connect with the places and link the style of the wines to the vineyards I've visited in these counties. Plus, the people are just SO friendly and passionate about their wine 🥰. What struck me the most was hearing how the region varies across and within counties, with varying microclimates, soil types, and locations influencing the different styles of wine - sometimes even from one end of a valley to the other. The commonality I did find, however, was a focus on retaining the character of the fruit and the place, innovation, dedication to premium quality, and a growing network of neighbourly winemakers and vineyards. My highlights 👇🏼 🥂 @flintvineyard - one of my favourite English vineyards doing incredible things. I got to taste the brand new Charmat White: fresh, crisp and refined, but accessible. 🥂 @saffrongrange - saying hi to my local vineyard friends whilst sipping my favourite of their sparkling wines, the latest blanc de blancs 🫶🏼. 🥂 @newhallwines - the bursting-with-passionfruit Bacchus 2023 ☀️ 🥂 @burnvalleyvineyard - the smooth, oaky Chardonnay -esque Solaris 2022 Black Label 🤓. Also love their focus on place and food pairing. 🥂 @missinggatevineyard Sauvignon Blanc, I had fun comparing the 2021 and 2022 vintages. 2022 was delicious, rich, tropical 🔥 🥂 @chetvineyard Robin Redbreast 2023 Cabernet Noir - super interesting juicy red, serve chilled ♥️ 🥂 @hawkershillwine Bacchus Fumé 2023 - balanced acidity & subtle smoky, smooth, soft... my kind of white👌🏼 🥂 And, finally, I discovered my next English Chardonnay to share 👀 Post coming soon! 💛 Thank you @wineswithashley @matt_abbey84 for organising this wonderful event. #wine #winesofeastanglia

A lil' love affair has been blossoming... 💘 I never thought I'd be saying this when I first started wine tasting but 👋🏼 Hi, this is me, I'm a Chardonnay lover ⤴️ the buttery the better! 💘 Last year, I fell in love with white Burgundy 🥰 💘 I read a book about a famous village in Burgundy, Puligny-Montrachet 🇫🇷 The history, the traditions, the politics, and the wealth of top notch wines coming from one little section of the wine world suddenly seemed worlds away from the bottles on the supermarket shelves... 💘 I started to try some wines from Burgundy, red and white, seeking out producers, appellations and specific vineyards I'd learned about in my book (while trying not to break the bank - this was a fun little research task in itself; skirting the edges of the prized vineyards without taking the plunge and paying the big bucks 🤓) 💘 I realised that so many Chardonnay wines from Burgundy were absolutely delicious 🤤, fantastic for food pairing ☑️, and had the depth, complexity and richness that I L O V E in a white wine 🫶🏼. I could 'taste' the sense of the place I'd read about, while enjoying the most delicious glass of wine 🤗 💘 I was hooked. ⤴️ Here are some of my favourites from my little journey so far... 👇🏼 💛 The heavenly selection of Burgundy wines at @cambridge_wine, including the stunning Olivier Leflaive 'Oncle Vincent' which I bought in the summer and somehow saved for Christmas Day. We were all genuinely sad when we reached the end of the bottle - should have bought more! 💛 A 2021 @domaine_alain_chavy Chardonnay with roast chicken is just the perfect Sunday (especially with a creamy sauce). From @sundaytimeswineclub 💛 A superb value Chardonnay by Alexis Pollier from @thornewines, a Mâcon-Villages which was a great food wine - I experimented with a creamy porcini and truffle baked chicken dish and it was spot on together. 💛 Another which feels more special than it's price tag: the Rully Montmorin 2021 from the well-known Domaine Jean Chartron, which produces some of the finest examples of Puligny-Montrachet, and also fantastic value, elegant wines like this one from vineyards in the nearby Côte Châlonnaise. #chardonnay

  2. One week of Mia ♥️ I still can't believe she is ours. We, and our families, are besotted with her and Christmas has made it so special. Her first week has certainly been an eventful one, most of which has been spent in hospital recovering from a long and traumatic birth, I can't thank the team @cuh_rosie enough for bringing her safely into the world and for looking after us so well. Midwives are amazing. Now we're at home it's all about finding our new normal, it's been so wonderful, overwhelming, tiring, daunting and emotional all at the same time. I don't feel like the same person in many ways! . I'm keen for this account to remain about food, so don't worry it's not going to be wall to wall baby spam. More hot chocolate pictures once we get out and about. I'm also wary of oversharing, for her sake mainly. I may set up a separate prviate account (anyone done that?) but you'll only know about that if you're my really good friend, or you know we're related.   1. ☀ September has kicked off to a really buzzy busy yet mega flowy start! After a productive meeting with Sarah & Ruth at @metalpeterborough I walked around Gladstone in Peterborough for a good 4 hours meeting & chatting with lots of locals, connecting with creatives & promoting the next phase of the Wonder Woman project... Here are just a few bits from a really beautiful day! 💜 🌈 Artists @artoftonynero & @katiescott_creative were out painting a mural..they invited me into their little cage, which was a privilege 😁🙏🏽 🌈 I checked out local shops..a great mix but I particularly loved the South Asian fabrics which is hugely lacking in Camb..my eyes and imagination got a lovely treat! 🌈 While taking a photo of some street art I heard giddy voices in the underpass..fortunately my curiosity took over..then I met more creative creatures @amandacarolinecouture & @wondos2ndson.. Where Amanda had me pose with her happy hat.. The cover photo (which is off on some secret adventures I hear! 👀 ) 🌈 Seeing a Palestine flag anywhere makes me happy..so I had to snap it ✊🏽 #freepalestine 🌈 Treated myself to some pretty earrings..because I #supportlocalbusiness yaah 🌈 & finally, the centre where I'll be running the sessions @gladstoneconnect aka Allama Iqbal Community Centre 😁✨where the staff Michelle & Alex are wonderful!! Swipe 👉🏻👉🏼👉🏽 Throw back to the summer (when I was having major phone problems so didn't get to share this with you) I loved making this piece from tiny sketch to 8x8ft finish for @cambridgefolkfest where I work with the wonderful @oblique_arts team & fantastic volunteers (gets better every year) 🌈 colour-tastick kingfishers!! 😁🎨💥 . P.s I made my whole outfit including the shoulder purse 😊 . .image descriptions: 1: Me between the kingfishers during the festival. 2: Draft drawings to check what would fill the space best in 8x8ft square. 3: Rolling out layers of base colours after the boards were fitted. 4: First bits of colour on, drawing out the water after chalking up all the outlines (so glad I'm not a complete perfectionist) 5: Me drawing in all the outlines and constantly being grateful for colour. 6: Outlines all done, I started detailing the beak. While Dylan joined me for a chat and a drawing break from his serious hard laboring. 7: Two amazing volunteers that dared! Took my simple instructions and went with the flow 😎 8: Anthony & Dylan putting the final structure together at 9.30pm 9: Dylan & Nat standing with the finished piece. Nat volunteered last year & had suggested including kingfishers as they are local to the area. I don't think she imagined they would be this big! 10: The left kingfisher completed! Waiting to fully dry on top of food court benches.
