Solo dates can be ✨incredible✨ but if you’re expecting to fly solo and feel similar or the same to how you do with others… 🥴 We should have a quick chat 🫠 Depending on your comfort levels of doing things by yourself, you might find it a breeze. You might grapple for your phone. Or you might spend the whole time wondering if others are staring at you. Ultimately, solo dates give us a hearty dose of our own reflection staring back at us. It’s a time when we quite literally “hold our own”. With others, there’s someone else to bounce off, the vibe is different and depending on the company, you’re in for a great or a not so great time 👀 On solo dates, the buck stops with you. And you know what? You don’t even have to love it to benefit from it. You may not enjoy solo dates. And that’s okay. But I would still encourage you to go (though less frequently) - why? Because it’s such an incredible way to learn more about yourself. It can build self awareness, confidence and open up new paths you’d never otherwise consider if others were around. Solo dates can’t and don’t need to be compared to other types of dates or company. Because the point isn’t to engage with others, but with yourself. It can often require patience, a softness we don’t usually get space for and putting yourself out there to get that bit uncomfy so new things can come out. Solo dates have changed my life because instead of waiting on others to bring things out in me, I actively create environments to bring them out in myself. It’s not always “the best night” and I’m not always in the mood, but I do have incredible memories and life has unfolded in new ways because of them. If you find them awkward, hard or resistant to the idea all I can say is please remember that’s so often the case when trying something new and there is absolutely something new for you to find ♥️

When I meet people who come up to us and do sign language, I never forget them. Why? Because it’s so incredibly rare to be approached by someone who knows sign language in public. I’ll smile about it for days, weeks and it’ll pop up in my head every now and then. It would be amazing if everyone could just know basic sign language and it’ll make a deaf persons day. Honestly.   2. Mary Huckle 11th September 1965 - 3rd June 2023 We are extremely saddened to let you all know that our brave and beautiful Mum passed away in the early hours of this morning. We were all with her in her final moments and she went peacefully. We don’t really have the words right now, but we know how incredibly loved she was by all of you and how much she enjoyed sharing her story with you all. We are so proud to call her ours, and we take such comfort in knowing that she impacted your lives so positively. Our love for her will never die, the most special, unbreakable bond.   3. REBELLIOUS OPTIMISM Hi everyone, I know know you’ve all been really worried about me; this past week has been really tough for all of us, I’ve just not had the energy to update you all. My daughters have been reading your messages out to me and updating people where possible. I can’t thank you for your kindness and your thoughts during this particularly challenging time. I finally got to my appointment today with Professor Peter Schmid. We had a conversation that I was half expecting - he thinks that I’m not strong enough to have Trodelvy because it’s so toxic. His main concern with Trodelvy is my liver function and the fact that my general health has deteriorated so much. The only other alternative at the moment would be to try something a lot gentler (methotrexate and cyclophosphamide combined) to hopefully stabilise the cancer even slightly, and improve my numbers. This week I had one temporary drain fitted in hospital, which was removed after they drained almost 6L of ascites. I’ve now had a permanent drain fitted, which gets drained every couple of days by a district nurse. I am also on oramorph which is liquid morphine, to help with the pain.
