  2. Proof that not all adventures have to be hiking up crazy mountains. Since leaving the Lake District (my home for almost the last 4 years) , I’ve been struggling getting to grips with living back in the Midlands, far away from any mountains, coasts or much wilderness. However, I am fortunate enough to live just a stones throw away from this here @rspb Nature Reserve , and it’s been a godsend. I grew up getting lost around the marshes and wetlands of this lil place, so it’s been nice to return and get all nostalgic and that. I also think I’ve hit abit of a quarter life crisis , cos your boy wants to get into some more birding shenanigans. Photographing birds is honestly so much more challenging than it looks, so here’s a few shots I took on my local stroll the other day. Lemme know what you think.   3. The best mountain I’ve ever climbed? Tag the person that has to come hike Suilven with you this summer ⛰️🔥🥾 It’s got to be, after being in my list for over 5 years, it feels pretty insane to have finally summited the infamous Suilven in the North West Highlands of Scotland. There’s something so magical about this particular area, with the mountains rising steep above the wild and untamed moorland. This part of the highlands just feels so characteristically different to the other areas, it just feels even more remote and wild, which of course is what we LOVE! If you’re thinking of doing this hike, please note that it’s not a short one. It’s a long old day out, and requires decent navigational skills and knowledge as well as plenty of endurance for a good ol day out on your feet. Also remember that conditions can change rapidly, especially in the highlands, so be sure to bring the essential equipment including headtorch, waterproofs, sturdy footwear, warm layers and of course your snacks and water. Last thing: whilst this hike is utterly breathtaking and I’m so thankful for experiencing it, this was probably the reason why I am currently having physical trouble with my back and sciatica (because I didn’t listen to my body) so, remember this mountain will always be there another day, LISTEN TO YOUR BODY!! - I’ll be touching in this even more in tomorrow reel.   1. It’s taken me a long time to write this post, mostly because it just won’t sink in, and that we are all so heartbroken by what’s happened. On the afternoon of the 27th of August… my beloved father, Michael, died very unexpectedly at home. He wasn’t ill for a second, and even at the very end he didn’t suffer in the slightest. Knowing Dad as well as we did, if he was going to chose a way out, that would have been how he would have wanted to go. My Dad has changed the lives of so many people in his time. He served in the Navy for many years, including during the Falklands and Bosnian wars as a Naval medic. He spent many years as a consultant of Emergency medicine, and must have saved hundreds of thousands of lives throughout his career. He inspired me every day as a child to pursue a medical career, and he continues to inspire me forever as I venture into the world of Emergency Veterinary medicine. He leaves behind a family who adore him, friends who will never forget him, and a legacy I only hope I can come close to achieving for myself in his memory. Dad, I can’t ever thank you enough for all you’ve done for me and for us in my life, and for what you’re going to continue to do for me. I’ll miss your big bear hugs, your wicked sense of humour, your encyclopaedic knowledge of The Beatles and of the cycling tours, and most of all, how you never let me down once in your life; now matter how small or how big the task was, you would do it for us because you loved us. And don’t worry, I promise to always remain “Rigidly Flexible” in life, as you always advised me to be. RIP Michael, beloved husband, legendary father, and incredible grandfather. 20/04/1950 - 27/08/2021

  3. LESSON 1 : The term “one length” means the hair is cut all at the same length. This means the hair pulled out from its base is all the same length with effectively is a round layer. The hairline makes the hair cut at its natural fall all different lengths TECHNICALLY so that’s lesson one 🤌🏼 LESSON 2: WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN? The haircut being pushed to the side or no further education for our assistants for there cutting skills? I’ll tell you why, because you can charge £100-£300+ just for the colour alone. So salons have decided that it’s better for there assistants to paint impeccably and make them ££££. But this is the death of a stylist. Knowing how to create shape even on a basic level is going to not only improve the quality of the hair colour service and give a much better result but also give them the tool to attract a diverse clientele and be able to say yes CONFIDENTLY to many more clients. Put it this way balyage 3/4 months cut 6/8 weeks. And sometimes the clients doesn’t even want a cut because they don’t think it’s important anymore either. But by taking that “trim” seriously when they decide to change there colour to something softer or even let it grow out EMBRACE THE GREY or “I think I’d rather have my natural colour” you are still skilled enough to keep them excited with their haircut. The amount of clients I have obtained simply due to the fact that there are very few strong cutters around my area and they want someone who can do both is amazing for me but sad for their previous stylist. INVEST IN YOUR EDUCATION. If you still use scissors daily then they are just as (maybe even more) important than your tint brush.   2. Last week at London design week @studiosannevisser showcased what they have been working on. HairCycle: a pilot study to explore and test regenerative, local, bio-based and circular models for human hair waste. HairCycle aims to revolutionise perspectives on the value of waste, focusing on the locally abundant resource of human hair. The research transcends conventional approaches to ‘recycling and waste’ by focusing on behaviour change at the local level, whilst captivating peoples’ curiosity and imagination using participatory methods and creative material exploration. Working with the London Borough of Newham, this project will develop and test new systemic methods and models for the collection, recycling and regeneration of human hair waste from local hairdressers/barbershops to support the green transition in a local context. The project considers the local needs of hairdressing practices alongside the Council’s Reduction and Recycling Plan, to combat waste whilst generating multifaceted value for people and planet to thrive within their local, circular bioeconomy.
