  1. It’s taken me a long time to write this post, mostly because it just won’t sink in, and that we are all so heartbroken by what’s happened. On the afternoon of the 27th of August… my beloved father, Michael, died very unexpectedly at home. He wasn’t ill for a second, and even at the very end he didn’t suffer in the slightest. Knowing Dad as well as we did, if he was going to chose a way out, that would have been how he would have wanted to go. My Dad has changed the lives of so many people in his time. He served in the Navy for many years, including during the Falklands and Bosnian wars as a Naval medic. He spent many years as a consultant of Emergency medicine, and must have saved hundreds of thousands of lives throughout his career. He inspired me every day as a child to pursue a medical career, and he continues to inspire me forever as I venture into the world of Emergency Veterinary medicine. He leaves behind a family who adore him, friends who will never forget him, and a legacy I only hope I can come close to achieving for myself in his memory. Dad, I can’t ever thank you enough for all you’ve done for me and for us in my life, and for what you’re going to continue to do for me. I’ll miss your big bear hugs, your wicked sense of humour, your encyclopaedic knowledge of The Beatles and of the cycling tours, and most of all, how you never let me down once in your life; now matter how small or how big the task was, you would do it for us because you loved us. And don’t worry, I promise to always remain “Rigidly Flexible” in life, as you always advised me to be. RIP Michael, beloved husband, legendary father, and incredible grandfather. 20/04/1950 - 27/08/2021
