  1. Tonight son No1 is coming back from University and I'll have my full crew of shipmates again for the festive season. I'm planning on being a lot less anxious than I was last year, when I knew that the biggest , and indeed only ever major secret I had from the boys was going to be revealed over New Year, and that they were going to discover that their mother was going to be appearing on @bbc's The Traitors. I was petrified about how they were going to react, how the show was going to be received, but most of all how they would feel about it. Yes my dyslexia got the better of me and I misread Roman numerals, yes I believed that the @bbc had buried @leon.jackman_ alive, yes I got a lot wrong, cried a lot, but gained another son in @freddiefraserr and hung above the Highlands with @alexanderdragonetti. My eldest posted this first slide the night of the final with just the caption of #Proud , which was enough for me, having lost the biggest game show in front of them. None of us knew how popular the show would be, and that as they scrolled they'd strangely see memes of their 'mother'. It has been an extraordinary year filled with weird and wonderful experiences for both me and them. They've seen me doll up, fight over a handbag on Mother's day in @johnlewis, chat homeware and carve pumpkins on @thismorning, discuss my Cluedo outfits, prance on red carpets, have photo/film crews in the house , and even decorate for Christmas in September! I am so incredibly proud of how they have taken this year in their stride, and how we just tick along in our same old ways, albeit a little busier and me in more make up. They have always been my motivation and inspiration. And never more so than now. My youngest said the penultimate week of the show, when seeing a teaser of a screaming woman hanging from a helicopter. "Is that you mum, hanging from the helicopter? " "As if " I replied ".. I don't even go in the teacups at the fairground, as if I'd hang from a helicopter?! " There was a pause.. "But, you'd do it for us" he said. He was not wrong. 💛 .   3. My biggest fear about this chapter in life isn’t safety or loneliness. It’s that in years to come I might want to rejoin a more mainstream way of living and perhaps I won’t be able to. A lot of people my age are married with children, they are working in careers that promise progression and pensions, they aspire to own luxury goods. No shade, these are all things I used to want. I have already had so many gorgeous chapter of life, and now somehow I ended up in this one. Somewhere along my path I realised that actually what I truly desire is peace and so here I am. But if I ever need to go back to a 9-5 it’s going to be hard from here haha. Luckily I know deep in my core that my path is a different one to what was shown to me as a child. More solitude, more nature, more humble. And for now, that’s what feels truly aligned.

  2. A throwback to last Saturday when it was still winter 🤣 The weather has improved this week, and we had a few actual days of summer! ☀️ And I know like me, you love to see a still. Tbh I ‘still’ 😆 prefer them too. I booked leave off work this week to break the back in finishing repointing the cottage. I’ve had a very productive week, and am over half way. Guessing about another 5 days should do it. 🤞🏼 It’s not all gone to plan, with illness, running out of sand and bad weather, but on the whole I guess I’m doing alright for a girl. 💪🏼 Its been tough going, my arms, hands, and actually all of me are really aching, and I’ve had enough of the mess and dust.   3. It’s a bit of a moody Monday here after yesterday’s sunshine. I did intend on getting out and doing a bit of gardening after work, but it’s quite dull and showery so I’ve been drawn to sitting in here instead. I wanted to paint the kitchen red but as it was quite a new kitchen that we only had installed about 4 years ago, the husband put his foot down, so I decided to get the stairs painted instead.   3. The Dressing Room bathroom transformation🫧 (Swipe for the before) I knew I wanted a timeless room that felt classic and cosy. I came across the most beautiful marble tiles from @quornstoneofficial who have the most amazing selection of natural tiles. I actually used Quorn Stone throughout my home and bathrooms as I just fell in love with their tiles! For the floor in this bathroom I went dramatic with the Versailles Manoir and then used the more paired back Carrara Bianco in the shower with the added detail of the herringbone mosaic on the tray and inside the niche. Carrara is such a timeless marble that never goes out of style. To make your bathroom look like an interior designer has done it - tile the tray - it is such a special and often missed detail! I also added a marble skirting board around the edge to finish it off. I really wanted to feature an oak vanity unit somewhere in the house & went with this stunning @parkerhowley_n_co one here topped in Carrara marble to match the rest of the room. The shower mixer & toilet is @roperrhodes which I adore! Shower screen @360gssuk - I was obsessed with finding frameless shower screens and came across these guys! They are amazing at what they do.   1. Ad/paid collaboration @makeitrustoleum Chalky Wall Paints. Ahhhhhh I can’t believe this is my new living room! When the lovely girls at Rust oleum got in touch about their new chalky wall paints, I knew this room would be in trouble. Swipe to the end for the before...slight transformation, I think you’ll agree! This room has been a complete DIY job my me, There’s not one inch that I have not done something to, from plastering the walls, panelling, painting, installing beams and of course laying that dream floor! It also includes all my favourite eBay purchases that I made in the summer of lockdown 2020. The curved sofa of dreams has been upholstered in a vintage wool mohair and I’ve added a curved base to enhance its form, the dining table has been plastered with marmarino and one of my most recent finds- the vintage marble coffee table from the 70s completed the room to perfection. @makeitrustoleum chalky wall paints are the perfect backdrop, I chose ‘Antique White’ and it’s my new favourite shade, I also repainted the crittal inspired patio doors in their ‘charcoal black’ and the finish is beautiful! There’s so much to talk about in this room so my blog post will be going live on my new website tomorrow evening, you’ll be able to find the process and all the finer details on there, but for now, I hope you love what I’ve done and thank you all for your encouragement over the past few weeks! 🤍🤍🤍 Paint: antique white @makeitrustoleum Parquet floor: @quickstepfloors creamy beige oak.   2. My very extra and very early Christmas tree reveal! I usually do a super low key tree with glass baubles and lights but this year is a little bit different isn’t it? Not only would my toddler try to eat the glass decorations (she’s eaten weirder before) I also now have a lovely room to have a lovely tree, and final reason....la carona! It’s made me want to go all out this year and try to make christmas as beautiful, special and romantic as I can for my family! I selected a mix of dried, artificial and fresh foliage and then realised that I had no clue how to do a floral display 🙈 but after many tweaks I think I’ve finally got it right, super hard to photograph so swipe to see the detailed shots. I’ll be listing on my stories some of the elements I used to create this as I’ve already had some of you ask.   3. BABY NUMBER 4 is on the way! So happy to reveal that I’m 14 weeks pregnant, our dreams of having a big family are coming true this November. The past few weeks have been tough on my body (won’t bore you with the details) so had to rest but starting to feel back to my normal energetic self again Woop! I know what you are thinking, we must be crazy- 4 kids is a big number but myself @calum_alejandro are so ready to embrace the all chaos and all the love...although as you can see, Palmer is not quite as convinced, especially if it turns out to be another girl ha! Anyway, I know you are all here for the interiors so I won’t be going on about it too much- don’t fear! Only change is that I just won’t be plastering any walls anytime soon, having said that, looking forward to a weekend of light diy and getting this cinema room finished FINALLY! Our kitchen ceiling wanted to come on today to thank all 20k of you for following its account, because let’s face it, you’re not here for my “daily” posts, reels, videos, tutorials and ads are you? 🤪 My inability to do the things that would grow my account has been relentless 🤦🏼‍♀️. It’s not that the numbers don’t matter - they represent a rather amazing community. It’s just that I’m here because after a rollercoaster of a reno, and feeling very bruised after experiencing some of the worst aspects of the construction industry, Insta was a way for me to focus on what we’ve achieved with this beautiful old house. What I found on here was so much better than I could have hoped for - a remarkable group of like minded, interesting, talented people and an overwhelmingly positive, supportive vibe. I’ve laughed, cried, felt buoyed up, learned so much, been motivated by your incredible achievements with your own homes and made friends. It’s been a better form of therapy than I could have hoped for and I want to thank you for all the likes, comments, shares and DMs. As Insta chuckaboos go, you are hands down the bee's knees, the cat’s pyjamas and the dog’s whatnots.   2. Thought I’d pop the kitchen on my grid today because it’s been a while. For any new followers who haven’t seen the stained glass ceiling - or lay light - this was the dream surprise of our reno. It had been covered by a suspended ceiling for over 50 years. Those Victorians could be quite flamboyant! . I was reading about Victorian slang yesterday, and while the phrase for feeling down in the dumps, “got the morbs”, seems apt for lockdown blues, the word I felt most deserved a revival was “chuckaboo”, a term of endearment for a dear friend.   3. Thank you for all the likes, comments and Story shares on my last post. I’m still in awe of our kitchen ceiling 6 years on - never imagined myself uttering those words 😂 - and I always struggle with how to follow it. . So, here’s the master en-suite, which Pinterest helped me imagine and @hetherington.newman helped us create. The first bath I took in here partly emptied itself through one of the light fittings in the dining room. No idea why, but it hasn’t happened since 😅 I believe it may have been karma for the time I left the bath running in a country house hotel then got engrossed in a copy of Vogue, blissfully unaware it was overflowing into the dining room below...😳🤦🏼‍♀️😘

  3. Someone is really happy with himself and the reason is because he made that table from scratch by himself 👉🏼. My dad is a carpenter and because of this, Ralph has been been into building since he was tiny. He gave his Popsy the dimensions he needed for his project and then made it happen - apparently it’s so I can bring him tea and biscuits in bed!
