  2. John Stapleton died suddenly in the early hours of this morning. He was 79 and was diagnosed with Parkinson’s just a year ago. I’ve known John for most my life. My parents met him and his wife Lynn Faulds Wood on holiday when I was a teenager . They became great friends and then neighbours. I wouldn’t be doing the job I do now if it weren’t for John and Lynn. They were big stars on BBC Watchdog when I first met them in the 80s and both great journalists. They inspired me and encouraged me to pursue a career at the BBC. I wouldn’t have had the courage to do it without them. I learnt a lot from John. Work hard, don’t cut corners, know your stuff and most of all keep your feet firmly on the ground. John was a journalist through and through with a whole heap of humility. His career spanned more than 40 years - Nationwide, Watchdog, Newsnight, Panorama, Sky News, GMTV, GMB. He has been a wonderful friend to my family and to me. I will miss him enormously. I was working the day Lynn died in 2020. I am working today too. How strange to be reporting on his death on the airwaves he first introduced me to in the 1980s.

  3. London Marathon I love you. 3:36:35 Fastest marathon in 5 years. Wonderful day. I ran with my 21 year old daughter who was 6 when I first ran @londonmarathon. What a privilege to be able to run together and run for my wonderful dad who would have been so proud of her. @aimee_fuller ran with us - an unbelievably gutsy run given she’d not run further than 13 miles in training!!! She got a PB. Thats Olympians for you 😂 So many friends and amazing support along the way. I love running. It makes me very happy. I’m 58 in 2 weeks time. It is never too late to start running… ❤️
