  3. Should you carb load for a half marathon? 🤔 The science supports yes, but it’s not QUITE 🤏🏻 the same as for a full marathon 🚀 If you should carb load depends on: 🥵 How intensely you’re planning on running- are you going full gas for a PB? ⏰ Is your goal time over 90 minutes? 💪🏻 How intensely you have been training and if this is a goal race 📉 How much have you tapered? The aim of a carb load is to top up our glycogen stores 🔋 which give our muscles the energy they need to keep running and delay fatigue. These stores only last about 90mins so if you’re running for longer than that, you definitely want to make sure you are topping them up as fully as possible! Also if you are running intensely (over 70% over your VO2max) you will be burning more carbohydrates so again, carb loading can help you feel the best! 👩🏻‍🔬 The science supports 8-12g per kg bodyweight for 24hrs before a half as a ‘mini carb load’ if you are running for longer or going all out for a PB 🚀 But remember, there are other ways to carb load that don’t involve counting! Think about increasing the proportion of carbs on your plate, add in an extra carby snack in the afternoon before and before you go to bed and reduce fiber and fat to fit in the extra carbs! Remember- you have to fuel the fire 🔥 Leave me a comment with any qu’s and follow along for more tips all about fuelling your training #halfmarathon #running #runner #beginnerrunner #carbloading #nutrition

  1. You’ve only gone and WON THE SPINE race!!! 87hours and 41mins and 268miles later. You’re literally my hero in every sense. I know this will be the icing on the cake for you Goss. The Spine Part 2 was for you, for closure, to have the ending your way after your world came crashing down this time last year 💔🫶🏻. It’s been an absolute privilege literally living on my phone, and taking over Goss’s social media. I can’t put into words how much this absolute gem of a person means to us. When I did my first Pro race, Goss sent me an email (she didn’t really know me) and said to go out and enjoy it. It meant the world. Fastforward 10 years and she’s one of our very best friends and was also The Vicar at our wedding. Fun fact. What can’t this superwoman do! There is no denying 2024 was tough for Goss. Literally this time last year was one of the hardest things to see your close friend go through. We all felt heartbroken. If you haven’t read her ‘why’ behind The Spine Race Part 2, then I will put a link in my story to read. I will let Goss in time write her post race post. Thank you Goss for being a hero to so many people. For me personally, thank you for being a best friend, you’ve helped guide me in my life in many ways, in my Pro career, and also to try and be a better person each day, and follow my heart in life. Shedding a few tears right now 🥹🥹🥹 what a legend. Thank you to everyone who’s supported Goss and been as obsessed with the tracker as us 🤣. Big ❤️ you have been the best! Big congrats to all the athletes racing and a big thank you to all the volunteers, you’re the heart and soul of it all ❤️. Okay over and out from me 🫶🏻. The next post will be from the superhuman herself! 📸: @spinerace

  1. “This is what no one tells you to bring to the start line but every marathon runner should.” You’ve trained for months. You’ve got your wave time. Now don’t let bad prep ruin a strong race. Here’s exactly what to pack in your race day bag to feel calm, comfy, and ready for anything: 1. Old hoodie or jumper: You’ll be stood in the cold for 45+ mins. Warm = calm. Bin it just before the start (they’re donated!). 2. Bin bag / foil poncho: Sit on it. Wear it. Hide in it if needed. Marathon day weather is unpredictable. 3. Toilet roll or tissues: Because there’s always one loo with zero paper. Don’t risk it. 4. Spare socks + sliders/trainers: Your feet will be done. Trust me changing shoes post-race = elite behaviour. 5. Portable phone charger: Tracking + photos + Spotify = 1% battery 6. Actual snacks: Not gels. Post race, you want salt, sugar, joy. Think Haribo, crisps, chocolate. 7. Suncream: Even if it’s cloudy. Shoulders, nose, and neck are out there for hours. 8. Body wipes or deodorant: For you. And for anyone who has to hug you. 9. Painkillers + plasters: Blisters, DOMS, or that rogue toenail. Be prepared. 10. A warm top for after: Post-race chills hit hard. Don’t stand around shivering. 11. Written meet-up plan on Hand Signal will fail. Your brain will be mush. Future you will thank you. Save this list. Tag your race buddy. And comment with your ride or die marathon bag essential. The start line is chaos. Your kit bag shouldn’t be. #LondonMarathon2025 #MarathonPackingList #RaceDayChecklist #RunnerProblems #ThingsRunnersSay #TeamTap #RunningCoachUK #26PointFreaking2 #CoachMegSaidSo

  3. The BRUTAL Truth About Marathon Training That No One Warns You About… 🤡 You think it’s just running a bit more? HAHAHAHAHA No. It’s 16 weeks of sacrificing your social life, your knees, and your sanity just for a medal, a banana, and the ability to say “Yeah, I ran a marathon.” 👇 Here’s what ACTUALLY happens… 🏃‍♂️ Your entire life now revolves around The Long Run. Weekend plans? Gone. Saturday nights? Over. Sunday? Wake up stupidly early, run forever, then spend the rest of the day lying on the floor questioning your life choices. 📅 Your social life disappears. “Want to go out tonight?” “I have 20 miles in the morning.” “What about after your run?” “I will be unconscious.” 👀 You’ll say ‘never again’ while searching for another race. Mile 18: I hate this. I hate running. I hate my life! Mile 26.2: That was incredible, when’s the next one?! 🥯 Carb-loading becomes your entire personality. Eating a full meal? And then immediately needing a snack. 👀 You look forward to tapering but then when it comes you just want to run. Your brain will also go wild: Why do I suddenly feel slow? Am I injured? Should I be running more? Less? Should I quit? 😵 You will have a full-blown breakdown at least once during your marathon block? Crying mid-run? ✅ Crying because you lost a toenail? ✅ Crying because your Garmin died at mile 19? ✅✅✅ 💀 The marathon isn’t even the hardest part. The real challenge? Trying to go downstairs the next day without holding onto the wall. 🧠 You will convince yourself this is FUN. And the scariest part? You’ll actually believe it. 🎤 Which one hit you the hardest? Tag your marathon buddy who needs to see this. #MarathonTraining #RunningLife #WhyWeRun #SendCarbs #TaperTantrums #StravaOrItDidntHappen #RunnerProblems #26PointFreaking2
