  1. Amanita Muscaria🍄✨Fly Agaric mushroom🧚‍♀️ Ancient Grandmother medicine ~ Agaraig Nan Cuileagan in Scottish Gaelic , ‘cuileagan’ translates to secret feast! which might hint at its other properties. This sacred mushroom has been demonised, we have been told to stay away from them, to fear them, to associate them with Witches, faeries and poison; yet her primordial song calls to us still, singing us back home. The first recorded use of Amanita goes back 50,000 years with a cave painting in Australia. Since we know that Amanita spread from Siberia down to Australia, we can make an educated guess that Amanita has been used by humans for far longer, and thus can be claimed to be the first or one of the first entheogenic mushrooms consumed. While the ancient and sacred rites and ritual practices of communing with this spirit may have been (purposely) forgotten or hidden. Not only is this mushroom a revered entheogen, they carry amazing potent medicine. Amanita muscaria are known for their medicinal properties that help to calm the central nervous system and provide stress resilience. It has been used medicinally to provide relief from sciatica, severe pain, sore throats, arthritis, menopause, anxiety, Ptsd, depression, addiction, childhood trauma, promote lucid dreamwork, astral travel and more. I gather her to make potent healing oils, tinctures, balms and tea ~ i work closely with her in ceremony and for physical healing. Amanita muscaria interacts with GABA receptors in the brain, the same calming neurotransmitter that makes us social, happy, and focused. Amanita can also be enjoyed in cooking, with correct preparation she is delicious! Not only is Amanita a powerful medicine for physical and spiritual wellness, she holds the deep wisdom of our ancient grandmothers, she holds our hand while we navigate healing childhood trauma and ancestral wounds. It is very important that connection with any plant medicine should not be taken lightly, we must take the necessary years to connect to the spirit of these medicines much like our ancestors did to be of service and respect to these mushroom elders, Amanita Muscaria in particular is an extremely complex entheogen.

  2. The rite of Imbolc is a women’s ceremony, where the coming of Spring is celebrated with the Goddess Brigid’s (Maiden aspect of Goddess) emergence and the waning of the Cailleach’s (Crone aspect of Goddess) winter power is acknowledged. The Goddess Brigid is deeply connected to sacred springs and holy wells, being a guardian, healer and Celtic water priestess. Brigid heals through Her sacred waters, the wells where the power of the underworld erupts to the surface. These connection points where the blood of Mother Earth is freely offered to heal the wounds of humanity, to transform our vision so we can see, and to cleanse us. Water is symbolically linked to the Celtic Otherworld and is seen as a portal or gateway between realms. The custom of throwing coins into a wishing well is linked to the Goddess Brigid. It was thought that Brigid would reward those who made offerings to her, so coins and other silver offerings were often tossed into her sacred wells to fortune a favor with the goddess (a tradition that lasts to this day). ~ to honour Brigid this Imbolc, leave offerings of milk and honey at your local holy well. Brigid is the Celtic Triple Goddess of Fire, Fire of the Hearth - Goddess of healing, midwifery, birth, family, fertility, and motherhood. Fire of the Forge - Protector of Law, Justice, and Order. Fire of Inspiration - Muse of song, poetry, crafts, and the arts. The exalted one, the flame haired Goddess of fertility, poetry, healing wells, sacred springs, healing herbs and fire craft. Candles and bonfires are lit in Brigid’s honour. She is the daughter of the great Dagda; the Chieftan of the Tuatha de Danan. Otherwise known as the Shining Ones, or the Faerie race. the fae would choose an animal to inhabit in crossing the thresholds from this world to the Otherworld. For Brighid it was the Swan. She is also associated with snakes as shifting into Imbolc would have them emerging from holes in the earth, Brigid and Snakes then become a symbol of the feminine presence of Earth’s regeneration and the rising eros kundalini currents of earths fertility 🐍 May we harness the power of new growth, fertility, fire and transformation this Imbolc🔥💦

  3. 𖦹 We are Cyclical and Seasonal. Our current construct of time is a colonial one, it does not flow with earth’s natural cycles, is not attuned to the seasons, the feminine current of the earth, follow the moon or our innate nature. For now, We are deep in dreamtime, can we listen to the wisdom of the seasons and truly honour our innate cyclical nature? Look outside to learn. Before a seed can sprout, the soil lays fallow, death nourishes life in the dark void of the womb. The “new year” celebrated now with the Gregorian calendar is an abstract construct, utterly severed from earth wisdom. I personally no longer celebrate with the ‘new year’ being the middle of deep winter, instead i look to the earth for guidance and root deep to feel when the seeds begin to sprout with the spring equinox in march~ this is when it feels most aligned for me to honour a new cycle. What if we followed nature’s rhythms instead? Rather than pushing ourselves to begin anew in the coldest, darkest & most introspective part of the year, we paused? What if we took time to just be where we are, take stock of our lives, reflect and rest in winters embrace. We are animals, and we are the only animal known to fight our natural rhythms and be ‘doing’ during the winter. For anyone who doesn’t feel connected to ‘new year, new me’, I see you. You don’t need to be making ‘new year’s resolutions’ in the depth of winter, there is time for rest and stillness yet. Don’t feel rushed or pressured to participate in a holiday rooted in colonialism if it does not give you nourishment at this time. A permission slip to detach from colonial timelines and rest with the whole of nature. You are enough exactly as you are. Own your own cycles and seasons. Tend to the silence of your inner world, the darkness, your womb space, the fertile void of creation. Softly, gently dreaming & tending. Nourishing the life force within. Liberate yourself from false patriarchal ideals and root deep into earth’s wisdom. 𖦹
