  3. I have wanted to post this for the last few days but not felt brave enough…but here we go…. The photo on the left was taken on 28th December. That day I took myself to my GP because I was burnt out with flu and couldn’t stop crying and couldn’t get out of bed or off the sofa. My GP booked a double appointment as she knew I needed extra time to talk. While she listened to my chest with the stethoscope I sobbed and sobbed and couldn’t stop. See, the last few years have been so hard for us all and I think we forget it sometimes. I had several occasions during late 2020 and early 2021 that I thought SBS would crumble, but somehow we got through the pandemic, til we could get back to the shops again. The SBS team have been truly amazing. The photo on the right is only one month later. I am on different medication, I’ve read books, listened to podcasts, walked miles until I have worked through whatever problem has been on my mind each day. I’ve finally stood up to people, healed old wounds, prioritised a good breakfast, combated my fear of motorway driving and worked HARD every day to work out what I need. So many of my clients say they’re struggling lately - they’re feeling rubbish, lacking motivation and feel stuck. I want you to know that I know how it feels to feel stuck, and I want you to see that you can come through it. You’ve just got to work out what you need, how to get it and spend each day prioritising yourself, even if it’s just 10 mins making sure you eat a proper breakfast or drink a hot cup of tea. The clouds can lift and the sun can shine again - and whatever I can do to help you, I’m right here with you, sister 🙋🏻‍♀️

  1. Birth. Something so many of us go through — yet so many of us fear. We’re often expected to follow a system that doesn’t feel right for everyone. So I wanted to share our story — something a little different from what you might usually hear. On the 3rd of July at 11:50pm, I started to feel what I thought could be surges (contractions). I told my fiancé to begin preparing — we were planning a home water birth — but I also told him not to rush. I wasn’t sure if this was really it. I messaged my mum to let her know she might need to come over soon, as she was going to stay with Ashé. I leaned into the surges, telling my body, I’m ready. I can do this. After each wave, I thanked my body and affirmed, I can do that again. Things moved quickly. Before long, my body began to bear down — there was no stopping it. I told my fiancé, the baby is coming. The birthing pool had only a little water in it, but I knew I needed to get in. That was where I wanted to meet our child. The moment I entered the water, I felt held. Supported. Like I was being embraced by something warm, calming, and powerful. Then came another surge — and his head arrived. With the next wave, he was born. Isaac caught him in his arms and passed him to me. He was born at 1:00am. At home. In our living room. Just the two of us. Five minutes later, Ashé came downstairs to meet her new baby brother, awakened by his cries. No stitches. No tearing. The placenta followed naturally 30ish minutes later. Our birth was incredible. We did it our way — the way that felt right for us. We didn’t give in to fear or to the stories that didn’t resonate. This path isn’t for everyone, and that’s okay. I’m simply sharing our story — a different perspective. One that was empowering, gentle, and real for us. We’re home almost all the time now — I used to be out living life, now 90% of it happens inside these walls. Only two friends have come to visit. The isolation hits hard. I don’t drive alone anymore. The baby screams, and every trip feels overwhelming. One-on-one time is rare — with either of them. Someone always needs me. I am constantly touched out. Constantly overstimulated.   2. This is something I don’t talk about often. But it’s part of our life & it’s not easy to open up about it. I get attacked by my boys, especially Jaxon. He hits, kicks, and grabs my hair, throwing my head around whilst I’m driving sometimes out of nowhere. It’s the most scary situation I’ve ever been in. He’s non speaking autistic, and I know it’s not out of anger or hate. Well actually, maybe it is out of anger, causing overwhelm & frustration. It’s pain he can’t put into words. And I’m his safest place but some days, it puts us at risk. And I know I’m that one person he trusts to fall apart with. Yet, it doesn’t make it easier. I’ve sat in tears after those moments, in fact I now refuse to drive on my own with the kids in the car. I’m too scared and it takes its toll on me emotionally . And still… I show up for him. Every single day. Because I love him more than anything. My fear in opening up about this so publicly, is that some may see him differently, some may think less of him. But I’m opening up today because there are parents out there living this quietly. Feeling broken, ashamed. Scared to say it out loud in case people judge their child or them. I’m speaking up for them and for me. Jaxon is not bad, he’s the sweetest little boy, with the most loving personality. He just gets dysregulated sometimes. And he is trying to communicate the only way his body knows how. He needs support. We also need support. Hello beautiful people ♥️ I’ve missed you and I’m sorry for being so quiet 🙊 I’ve been in my own little world working away on something very important to me these last few months, and I haven’t had much time to myself. To be honest, life’s been unsustainable and imbalanced and giving me flashbacks to my IronMan days when only one thing in the world existed. COVID hit us pretty hard for a while, and we spent a few weeks not able to eat much and feeling like we were on a never-ending boat trip 🛳 but we had each other and are just thankful to be back to ourselves. My back has been holding up real well so I’ve been finding my old strength and feeling like myself again too, so life’s good and I feel extra lucky 🥺 All the heartwarming messages and emails these last few weeks were the sweetest things of all time and I’m sorry there isn’t enough time in the day to reply to each and every one of them!   1. Today I walked - it’s the first time in 9 days I’ve been able to try. It’s never been so hard to muster the strength and conviction to do so. I’ve had 4 operations this week (with more to come), am beyond shattered with a very weak body. But somehow my body is still ploughing on. Sometimes all we can do is take things step by step. The nurses and doctors are being incredible - I’ve cried on pretty much everyone that pops thier head around the door! : I’m making progress, it’s slow, but steady. I’m still being monitored very closely. No idea what the next plan is- it’s just taking things bit by bit. It’s hard when you just want a plan, but the plan is really to try to get me better, whatever pathway that takes. My drains are to do with my bile duct - which they finally stented (well we are in the middle of that process), and acities, which I’ve had 10 litres drained already hence why I’m don’t look pregnant anymore! : Thanks for all your wonderful messages.   2. Dame Deborah James. We are deeply saddened to announce the death of Dame Deborah James; the most amazing wife, daughter, sister, mummy. Deborah passed away peacefully today, surrounded by her family. Deborah, who many of you will know as Bowelbabe, was an inspiration and we are incredibly proud of her and her work and commitment to charitable campaigning, fundraising and her endless efforts to raise awareness of cancer that touched so many lives. Deborah shared her experience with the world to raise awareness, break down barriers, challenge taboos and change the conversation around cancer. Even in her most challenging moments, her determination to raise money and awareness was inspiring.   3. Prince William actually came to our family house today!! I am utterly honoured that he joined us for afternoon tea and champagne, where he not only spent a generous amount of time talking to my whole family but also honoured me with my Damehood. It’s quite surreal having a royal pop in at home, and yes you can imagine the cleaning antics and preparation went off the scale - but it was all irrelevant because William was so kind and he put us all at ease. He is clearly passionate about improving oncology outcomes as the President of the Royal Marsden. It was such a special day for my whole family, making memories to last a life time.
