  2. I’m not sure if people talk enough about this. Probably because navigating it is so painful. Dealing with cancer is difficult at any time of year, but it takes on a new meaning at Christmas. Last Christmas my Mum was being treated for breast cancer and this Christmas, my Dad has terminal cancer. One finished treatment & the other was diagnosed a few months later. It doesn’t feel real as I type and it certainly doesn’t feel fair, but the cruelty of cancer never discriminates. I’ve been a charity ambassador for @cancerfocusni for years & have always taken it very seriously, but to be honest, I didn’t fully understand what it really feels like as a family to go through this, until it knocked on our front door. The reality is agonising. Watching this evil disease slowly take away the person you love most in the world bit by bit and in our case, at such speed. That mix of devastation, helplessness, anger and inner strength you have to dig deep to find, fluctuate every single day. Living in a state of shock has become the norm for us & I’m not sure that will ever go away. We talk about the golden months with Dad; the summer into early Sept. His treatment was having a positive impact and he had a quality of life again. This picture was taken on my birthday; one of my favourite days with him ❤️ And one of the last truly great days we had. Now as my incredible Dad battles hard, there are still glimpses of his wonderful sense of humour, his devotion to us and his stubborn strength, that make me weep with joy when they appear. I would give ANYTHING to change what is happening. I guess I’m sharing my thoughts to send solidarity to anyone else who is going through this too. Our insta feeds will be flooded with feel good over Christmas and generally, it’s not popular to share the painful parts, but if it helps one person feel less alone, then that has to be a good thing 🙏🏼

  1. This message is for those people specifically who are living in Edinburgh or thinking of coming here in the next few days. There’s an Indian restaurant called Dishoom 🥊😂 which many of our friends recommended, so we decided to try it this time on our trip. When we reached there, we found out that there was a 2 hour wait 😱 and then they suggested that we could wait inside and try drinks and such until our table was ready, and the person dealing with all this was so nice and humble that he somehow managed to get our table ready in just 40 minutes. The menu was like a page from a newspaper, never seen anything like it before. The seating was so comfortable, and the Hindi old songs playing in the background, maybe from the 1970s, we had never heard before😂 First, we tried chole bhature, it was made too spicy and the pickle served with it was delicious. Then we ordered bhel for our drinks as a snack 😂 The restaurant has 3-4 floors, and if you’re thinking of coming here, be ready to wait, but again, they have a beautiful bar just next to the permit area and they will come to you whenever your table is ready. It was my wish to eat here once, and that wish has been fulfilled today. And one more thing, the photos didn’t come out very well because the restaurant had a dark theme, but I tried to take as many as possible. They had two types of menus, one for teetotalers and the other for nachedis 😂 The masala chai we got at the end was just unbeatable. Another interesting thing I found out from one of the servers is that they get a free trip to India once a year, isn’t that interesting? And most of the people working in the restaurant are locals, and they even speak Hindi to some extent.
