We arrived in this beautiful country 13 years ago in 2011 - after previously visiting Australia several times (a couple of those times with our permanent residents visas already burning a hole in our passports) constantly wondering if we could/would ‘settle’ before they expired. . Moving from the life you know, to the other side of the world is a daunting roller coaster of a decision - so instead of rushing, we took our sweet time.   2. Fabulous dinner in a restaurant few have heard of – so here it is. Strangers, ensconced in Queensland Parliament House, is now open to diners who are not members of the Legislative Assembly. The quality of food – and value for money – is exceptional. We began with a drink in historic Lucinda bar – a Speaker’s Gin and soda for me – then toured Parliament House, including the room where the theatrical argy bargy takes place. Strangers’ Restaurant is dripping with heritage charm, including stunning parquet floors. Newly appointed head chef Dubliner Anthony Naylor is doing beautiful things with our fine local produce. He’s worked in Michelin-starred restaurants across Ireland and the UK, cooking for stars including Robert De Niro. Last night he was stuck with us. And we relished each of our five courses ($95 ex wine). Strangers’ is open 12-2pm Wed-Fri and 6-9pm Fri (when Parliament isn’t sitting). 2 courses $59, 3 courses $79.   3. 🏃‍♀️ Now that the dust has finally settled, and my feet have recovered, I just wanted to say THANK YOU! The @bridge2brisbane experience last week was something I’ll never forget. I set a target for my little team to raise $10,000 for @smallsteps4hannah and they absolutely knocked it out of the park. We raised over $15,000 as a team. We RAN 10km at 6am to raise money and raise awareness for an incredible foundation. Last Sunday would have been Hannah’s 36th birthday, so it was my absolute honour to be loud, proud, colourful and joyful on her day, alongside my team. I know she was with us the whole time. 💕 I’m so proud of all of them, and so grateful for their support and commitment to the cause. Another huge thank you to @savannahfry for pulling together my fitness barbie look, and being the best team coach on the day. @meavesbymedea absolutely slayed the hair, not a single strand out of place at the end of the race. Thanks in particular to @maddison.mgmt for your support in setting up the various publicity stunts, events and opportunities in the lead up.   2. It’s so funny… I taught Piggy that she is to sit on a Matt or a bed to eat her treats. We went to @droolersdelight on the weekend with her besties @leroyandlenny @mr_milo_moments and @everybody_loves_reuben for a wonderful morning catch up and puppachino Lots of pats, photos and treats were on the menu at this wonderful doggie cafe. Piggy’s Matt was on the ground when she was given one of her favourite treats ….   3. Part 2 of trying to become a sneaker girlie and I think I may have cracked the code. It goes to show, sometimes you just need to try different things and eventually you will find what works for you. The three key takeaways on this process for me were: When you are trying something new, keep everything else you are wearing really familiar. It helps with the integration and your brain accepting the new item. When trying something new, exposure is key. The more you see it, the more likely you are to accept it. Sometimes you just need to change a little thing to make it work for you, changing the laces was a game changer for me. Let me know what you think - am I on the right track?
