Little fun fact: I have an identical “mirror image” twin (mirror image meaning it’s like looking in a mirror when we face each other with defining features, birthmarks, etc on opposite sides…she’s a lefty I’m a righty) it’s a thing🤪 Anyways people always ask what it’s like being a twin…..it’s pretty freaking awesome and it’s like having a built in bestie for life who you have this freakishly weird connection to. Among the poppies, year three. 🌾 Every year, each time a cool June evening to delight in the poppies, I’ve been in a different stage of my life: working different jobs, falling in love, pours and droughts of creativity. This year, though, being surrounded by them feels very personal, deeper than the blooms above ground. I learned that poppies are symbols of resilience, rebirth after war and tumult. And as we’re all witnessing the state of our world - the chaos and divisiveness, I feel parts of myself that have been blurred or missing, returning to me. A resurgence and clarity of who I am. I can’t make sense of the timing and kind of feel guilty for it given the destruction that’s happening - but maybe that’s the whole point? To search for beauty in the deep, dark corners of the world and within ourselves? To let it provide solace, and guide us on this treacherous path? More on this to come in a Substack. In the meantime, I hope you find something that leaves you so awestruck, you can’t help but feel that it’s part of you.
