  1. Before starting my own company, Moving Meals, I worked at several multinational companies in India. I knew I was bisexual and had a crush on a colleague. Back then, I didn't feel the need to come out as I was unsure of potential negative reactions from colleagues and seniors who all appeared straight. I wonder how things would have been if I had come out to them. I also always knew I would come out to my parents first. They are very cool parents so I didn’t wanna hide such a huge part of me. So, I was closeted but not out of fear. Back in 2010, I kicked off Moving Meals for a couple of reasons. First, when I studied in Manchester, I longed for my mom's cooking, something many Indian kids overseas can relate to. In this emotion, I saw a business opportunity. Second, I started this business to follow the family tradition of entrepreneurship. To get the hang of what it takes to run a business, I worked at big multinational companies. You really figure out how to treat your employees when you've been on the other side. I was worried about how my parents would react but they turned out to be super accepting when I came out. Now we have candid talks about LGBTQAI+ issues. As for my staff, I haven't fully revealed my identity to them yet, but it's on my to-do list to have a chat and raise awareness when the time is right. I'm all in for workplaces that are open and accepting. LGBTQAI+ conversations shouldn't be a big deal, you know? Instead of those formal presentations that are quickly forgotten, they should just blend into regular coffee-table conversations. We often say "normal" for straight folks without even thinking about it. Well, it should be the same for LGBTQAI+ folks. No need to approach someone with, "Hey, what's your story?" Just keep it casual and inclusive. A natural, flowing conversation says more about acceptance than a sit-down analysis ever could. Serving up inclusivity, one meal at a time, Pankti, 36 Female, Lesbian Proprietor, Food
