  2. I thought long and hard about making this post. Because quite frankly I don't even know where to begin or how to go about this type of goodbye. The kind where some might think "wow she's being overly dramatic, it's not that deep", and yet...others might relate to the deep sadness and pain that comes with closing a chapter you weren't quite ready to close. Our journey started off hopeful, yet was met with so many questions and pain. Breastfeeding came easy to me, as I knew exactly what to do and how to go about getting the perfect latch, yet it didn't come easy for you, and this made it increasingly hard on me to navigate. We went from bruised and broken nipples in the hospital, to being severely engorged on day 4. To having to cup feed you because you were not transferring much. Momma sat up for hours with each feed and kept questioning if I had enough milk to give you. Yet with each pump, enough came out. I was perplexed by this. None of my training or experience helping other women Breastfeed their babies prepared me for the fact that there was nothing I could do. I reached out for help, yet was told there's nothing wrong. I sought for answers, yet was told "maybe you should just stop breastfeeding". I saw you in so much pain each night with reflux and always asked "what am I doing wrong? Was it something I ate". Then came pumping while away from you, going to work. This further increased your comfort with bottle feeding. And you simply started drinking less from me. Because i didn't know it then, but nursing was a joy for me,but it was hard work for you. And of course my supply slowly dwindled. But I tried. I wanted to so badly get you to nurse again. And it was only after months of trial and error that I finally got the confirmation of what I had suspected all along. It wasn't anything I had done wrong or right. I simply had to take some time to listen to what you were telling me. A tongue tie momma. I wish I knew earlier. I used to call it my breastfeeding journey. But now I can see very clearly that it was always OURS to walk through together. And now this part of our journey has come to an end. ❤️ I will always remember it as the best 8 months.
