GET YOUR CLAWS OUT is a short fashion film centered on the importance of women voting in the midterms next Tuesday comes. This one-minute piece by director and photographer Holly Andres (Vanity Fair, The Cut, Refinery 29) was a dream collaboration for our woman-owned business and focuses on the hands of three different women, each stopped at a red light as the radio blasts news about the end of Roe v. Wade, as they wait for the green light to cast their ballots. Holly reached out to me with her idea for the movie two weeks ago. We’ve worked together for many years in my life as a fashion editor (and even won awards together), but we’ve also spent those years trying to aid non-profits, show up at protests together, and wanted to use our skill set to make something more than a typical fashion film. This is the skill set we have. We know how to tell stories and make pretty pictures, but we can also use that to send a message. And our message today is women matter as humans who deserve to be in charge of our bodies, and our healthcare, and we matter as a voting block. Please get out there next week and vote like our lives depend on it because they do. I hope you like this film we made. And I hope you are inclined to share it. If it makes one more person remember to turn in a ballot or nudge them to a polling place, it’ll be worth all the work.
