  1. When the doctors told me I was going to lose my tongue I immediately thought I would never eat again. Doctor after doctor reassured me that it didn’t mean that. And while they didn’t lie, food is not at the center of my life like it was before getting sick. My already complicated relationship with it has become even more confusing. I smell food and I crave it. I watch mukbangs and drool over other people’s ability to crunch and bite and chew. I cook for my husband on an almost daily basis and love being in the kitchen. But when it comes to feeding myself it feels like more often than not I fail at it. Only recently have I found a sweet spot. Soft foods, small bites, lots of milk to pull the food from the front to the back of my mouth, lots of sauce and lots of patience. I choke. I get frustrated. I go days without trying because it’s just so difficult. But I will not give up. When I got to work today, the ensure I had left in the cafeteria fridge had been thrown away. My fault, I knew better. We can’t keep personal food in the fridges because of the health inspector. But I realized I had no “food”. I was going to have run a whole shift on an empty stomach. I decided I had no choice. I went down to the restaurant in the hotel and asked chef for 2 soft poached eggs and hollandaise, a safe food I had eaten at home in privacy. I have avoided this process in public for a multitude of reasons but was left with no choice. And guess what, it worked! I did it. I ate 2 whole eggs. I had FOOD for breakfast! OH and YES I can taste it. And YES it’s delicious. A big win in my world! 🌎 REMEMBER- you too can do hard things! 💕 #cancersurvivor #tonguecancer #dothehardthings #glossectomyrecovery #headandneckcancer #americancancersociety #atx

  3. One year ago today, I found out I had cancer. It has been by far the hardest, longest, most complicated, painful, and emotional year of my life. I spent countless hours in hospitals. I’ve been stuck by more needles than I could count. I’ve been cut open, cut up, and sewn back together. I’ve had a tracheostomy, a feeding tube, a port, a near-total glossectomy, 75 of my lymph nodes removed, and my leg muscle reconstructed into a flap in my mouth. I’ve had 7 rounds of chemotherapy. I’ve had 65 rounds of radiation to the head and neck. My mom practically lived with us. Elise and Michelle spent a lot of time in hospitals. And Donald, oh Donald, he held my hand through it all. I also, got engaged. I watched one of my best friends get married. I went to Florida. I swam in the ocean twice. I got flowers, cards and gifts from people all over the world. I went viral on TikTok. I was on people magazines website. I found my voice even after they took my tongue. I fought like hell. And here I am, 1 year later, and from what we know right now… cancer free. 😭❤️ I couldn’t have won this battle alone. The endless amount of support and love I’ve received will forever be the light in my darkest hour. I felt more seen by my peers friends and family than I ever have in life these last 365 days. Thank you from the bottom of my soul for not giving up on me and for continuing to show me the good in the world. My first scan post treatment is April 29th. And then I’ll have a scan every 3 months, for 2 years to make sure I’m still cancer free. They don’t call it remission till I’ve been clean for 5 years. I plan on making it to 5 years. And then 10. And then hopefully not till I’m in the ground will I ever have to fight this evil disease ever again. If life has other plans for me, well, we’ll cross that bridge and fight like hell. But for now… FUCK CANCER. Thanks for going on this ride with me. I’m ready to unbuckle my seatbelt and get off. 👏🏼

  1. BABY #6 is a… B O Y!!! 💙💙💙💙💙💙 Our hearts are bursting with gratitude over the blessing of our fifth SON! 😭🙌🏼🧢🩵🙏🏼 If you would have asked me if it was a boy or girl, before the surprise of accidentally finding out the sex at our anatomy scan, I would have told you FOR SURE it was a girl! 😆 My heart and mind “KNEW” it was a girl, that Shi Shi was going to have a baby sister, and I was even calling this sweet baby boy by the girl name on my heart! 🤦🏻‍♀️ oof! Oh, BOY! 🤣🥰 God’s plan to reveal our little guy to me in that ultrasound was an unexpected gift! Thank you, Jesus!!! 🙏🏼 It got my heart ready, EXCITED and prepared to meet this handsome, sweet blessing coming soon! •10/23/24 due date• We are SO thrilled to welcome a precious baby boy into the family! 💙To give Judah Blue a baby bro to grow up with like his big brothers have had! 💙For Shi Shi to continue to be the only princess 👑 around here for the time being 😉. 💙For God’s ways that are HIGHER, BIGGER AND BETTER than anything we could hope or imagine!!!! Eph 3:20 A TRIBE OF SONS & A DAUGHTER…. THE BLESSING OF RAISING KIND KINGDOM KIDS… A FATHER IN HEAVEN WHO WATCHES OVER US… & HUSBAND WHO WILL GIVE ME ALL THE BABIES I WANT 😂… there is nothing more I could ever ask for!!!! 🙌🏼🥹💙💓🙏🏼🫶🏼 Did you know it was a boy or are you surprised, too?! I could have sworn I was in my girl era! 🤣🤣 💦💦 for the gender reveal, we filled up the water guns and added a few drops of blue gel food coloring (found at Michael’s) to each one and gave them a shake to mix it up! I put everyone in a white t-shirt and we said “GO” and let the kids start shooting their water guns 🔫 ! Our dear friends on vacation with us, were there to helping fill up the water guns, taking photos and they even wore home blue-sprayed clothes, like we did! Talk about loyalty 😂. It was such a fun way to do a gender reveal, was perfect for the beach and special memory that will last for a lifetime! 🩵🫶🏼💦 #genderreveal #baby6 #itsaboy #blue #watergunreveal #beachreveal #crouchfam #babyontheway #boymom #ilovemyfamily

  2. HE’S HERE!!! 🙌🏼💙🫶🏼👶🏼🎉👏🏼 part 1 We are so happy to announce that our precious baby boy is here!!!! Baby COLT was born on November 7th at 7:02pm. 8 lbs, 10oz of pure gentle love! 💙 Our birth with Colt was completely unlike anything we had ever experienced before! It was a journey, labor & delivery that almost broke me 🥹. But of course our Heavenly Father held all the pieces together in the palm of His hands 🤲🏼 and carried us through to the end! I woke up at 3am Wednesday morning, 42 weeks pregnant, with contractions in full confidence I was FINALLY in labor and this was it! The midwives arrived at 6am, but unfortunately contractions had slowed down. They had me drink another round of castor oil (this was the 3rd!) to try to get contractions going again. @thedanielcrouch & I went for 2 walks, took a nap, and did all the things to try to keep labor going. Contractions finally picked up again and things were going well, until the midwives noticed that Colt’s heartbeat would decelerate when I was in certain positions. After lots of consideration they decided to call 911 and have me transferred to the hospital by ambulance 🚑. I was heartbroken. All of a sudden, my heart, vision, plans, desire for a peaceful home birth and water birth were completely out the window. It just felt so dramatic. I had ultimate peace that Colt was fine. We had been through something similar before with Shi’s heartbeat dropping in labor & she was fine. But nonetheless, Daniel and I surrendered and agreed to do what was best for baby and follow their guidance. Outside of my house was a fire truck and ambulance with all their lights on 😭. They took me away on a gurney and the tears fell on my cheeks. I texted @britschoff from the ambulance and she immediately called and said she was on her way to the hospital. She & @moments_withmeg showed up as soon as we got there, slept in the waiting room & didn’t leave our sides until Colty was born. 😭😭😭 talk about sisters. 💓 We worshipped in the labor & delivery room. We read scripture. We did lunges, drank coffee and ate snacks. Daniel & I will NEVER forget them being part of the BIRTH TEAM! 🫶🏼 #birthstory #hisglory

  3. Dear Prayer 🙏🏼 Warriors - please intercede for our girl! 💗 On Christmas morning, our sweet Shi Shi 🦋 accidentally poured a hot cup of coffee ☕️ on her chest and stomach. 😭 The next morning, sweet baby Colt got sick with coughing and congestion and labored breathing. 😮‍💨 Before we knew it, we were at Texas Children’s urgent care with concern of Colt being just 7 weeks old and having RSV. And knowing that we could no longer take care of Shiloh’s burn wound on our own. ❤️‍🩹 We are so thankful they ruled out RSV for Colt - praise God!!! We are giving him breathing treatments at home and watching him very closely! He’s getting better every day! The next day we were sent to a pediatric plastic surgeon for Shiloh and prior to going, we prayed that God would give us the right doctor and that they would have the right protocols for her. The doctor and his team are amazing and truly angels! 🥹🥹 He put a antimicrobial silver foam dressing on it that we only have to change every other day, which is a huge blessing because the changing of the dressings was very traumatic & painful for her when it would stick, etc. We change it once ourselves tomorrow and Shi goes back in on Friday. We are praying for it to look really good, healing and clean on all fronts in Jesus’ name!!!! 🙏🏼🙌🏼🫶🏼 These are the three things we need you to pray for... ❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹 1. Please pray that the entire wound is a SECOND-DEGREE BURN & NO PART OF IT IS THIRD-DEGREE. Third-degree burns require skin grafts, etc. but second-degree burns heal on their own. 🙏🏼 2. Please pray that there is NO SCARRING. Since the area is on her chest where she will develop later in life, scarring could impact her development. We need no scarring. 🙏🏼 3. Please pray for NO INFECTION WHATSOEVER in Jesus’ name. Of course, this would be very painful for her and also increase the risk of scarring. Please pray for no infection whatsoever in Jesus’ mighty name!!! We have FULL FAITH that God is going to heal her completely. Mark 11:22-23 And that we will see a MIRACLE STORY for HIS GLORY!!! Thank you to our village who has already stepped in so much! 🙏🏼 We love you! ♥️ Linds & Daniel #pray

  1. Luis Miguel Ramirez always had a north star in life. From an early age, he knew he wanted to model his future around the life of the Queen of Tejano: Selena Quintanilla. “She was just a role model for me of where I wanted to kind of take my life. She was like the blueprint,” he said. Growing up in a Mexican-American household in Texas, Ramirez was surrounded by both English and Spanish speakers, but he hadn’t learned Spanish by the time he got to high school. To communicate with his abuela, who only spoke Spanish, Ramirez followed Selena’s footsteps and learned Spanish through music. “I remember when I graduated from high school, we were having dinner at my graduation, and I’m talking to my grandmother in Spanish, and she was just super impressed,” he said. “She was like, where did this come from?” Many years later, Selena continued to inspire him to craft a curriculum that would make learning Spanish fun and engaging for his high school class. Ramirez built his masters thesis at the University of Salamanca in Spain around that curriculum. But Selena’s reach is limited in Europe, and convincing his advisers in Spain to let him base his curriculum on the Tejano singer wasn’t easy. “For [my adviser] it was more like, ‘Oh, she can motivate the language learner in the classroom.’ And that really got him to kind of see, OK, she has this great body of work,” Ramirez said. Ramirez said the curriculum helped motivate his students, particularly the ones that hadn’t engaged with his class before he introduced Selena in lessons. Outside of the classroom, Ramirez has used Selena’s career as a muse in his own musical career, first as the frontman of Son de Rey, and now as his musical alter ego @MiguelStMichael. “I think Selena was just the first kind of spark to kind of push me to go see what was out there,” he said.
