As Department Head of Hair, Makeup & SFX for @kukinithefilm, I’m beyond humbled. Our “department” was made up of some of the most amazing & wonderful friends, creatives and artists— who, without hesitation, said YES regardless of the time commitment, showed up, shared their time, talent and worked tirelessly behind the scenes all while having the best time together! From historical research and sourcing specialty tool kits and body makeup, to body airbrushing, spray tans, tattoo correction & placement , skin coverup , tattoo stencils, SFX, and continuity — some days it meant 6+ hours of HMU work even before cameras rolled. All so our warriors could step into character authentically representing that time period.   3. Wow! I am so grateful for the overwhelming love I’ve received the last couple days. My birthday could not have been more perfect.   3. The "lucky girl syndrome" mentality, which embodies a belief in being blessed and destined for the best, illustrates my mother's remarkable journey. From a modest nipa straw house amidst rice fields to her dream oceanfront property, her story is a testament to the power of positive thinking and determination. Growing up without technology, she was unaware of life beyond her nipa house in the Philippines. It wasn't until a visit to the city, where she caught a glimpse of an American home on television, that she began to dream of something more. Every day, she visualized the transformation of her leaky straw roof into the high ceilings of a spacious home, complete with a pool and a backyard filled with animals. Despite living in a cramped 3-bedroom house with 14 other people, she always emphasized the importance of gratitude and generosity, regardless of our circumstances. With an abundance mindset, she gave more than we had, teaching us the value of paying it forward. Her life exemplified the belief in what's possible through prayer, love, rejecting negativity, and maintaining a "can do" attitude. "All is Well," has been a guiding light for us.   2. ʻAuana Night Conceptual Look 1.0 “Molokai Mugler Manu” I never got to wear this moment on Saturday night, but I’m happy that I’ve gotten the chance to document it in Hilo with my loved ones. Been holding onto this Manu dress for years, constantly thinking about ways to style it with no intention to cut it up.
