  1. Scam 1992: Title Sequence - CG Character Design Here's a look at the character design for Harshad Mehta, played by @pratikgandhiofficial in the #Scam1992 Title Sequence. Creating this CG character in the likeness of Pratik Gandhi was quite challenging, but fun too. Initially the proportions for the model were either too cartoonish, or too realistic. After a lot of iterations we were able to arrive upon a balance, something that was just stylized enough. @_potarto_ and I found some interesting ways to replicate some basic facial features in 3D using real life photos to create custom shaders. He took care of the posing of the model while I dealt with the texturing for the same. It was interesting to study the body language and the period accurate clothing of this character and the amount of work that must've gone into it. We tried to imitate that to the best of our ability, to give this obscure 3D model some semblance of a personality. I am immensely grateful for the Director @hansalmehta and the Co Director @mehtajai for having faith in me to pull this off. This particular part of the process had a lot of back and forth, and I'm glad it did, because it definitely helped make the output better. There's one more breakdown video on the way, the last one, which will show the kind of 3D processes I used to make the sequence.   2. Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story (Title Sequence) I created the title sequence for this amazing show a few months ago. It was a learning experience, and a huge milestone for me. Check it out! #Scam1992 is a 10-episode web series about the notorious stockbroker Harshad Mehta, whose systemic bank fraud had shook the entire country, changing the rules of the game on Dalal Street. I am immensely grateful for the Director @hansalmehta sir and the Co Director @mehtajai for trusting me to do justice to their vision. Special thanks to Jai for tolerating me and also helping me through some rough patches. I must mention how brilliant the soundtrack is, which basically provided the foundation for the vibe of the title sequence. @achintstagram has made massive tunes for this show, and the main title track just blew me away. As for the concept of the the Sequence- I wanted to show the rise and fall of this 'self-made' man. A man who came from nothing and rose up to tower over everyone else, expanding his empire of wealth and power. Just when he reaches a God-like status, the faulty foundations of his success start to crumble. The floor is swept beneath his feet as he plummets to his downfall. There is a ton of work that went into creating this title sequence from scratch, and it was just @_potarto_ and myself on the project. It was very strenuous, but also very gratifying.   3. Here's a glimpse into the making of the #Scam1992 Title Sequence. The entire sequence was fully 3D animated, treated to look like scenes out of a graphic novel, telling a story of epic proportions. This kind of style was hard to arrive upon, and took a lot of trial and error to develop. The idea was to take all the information from the 3D scenes and use it to drive multiple compositing effects on top of the raw renders. The 3D scenes themselves had an range of coherent lighting and camera setups, along with a bunch of physics simulations. Getting the timing of all these different moving parts took a while, but was essential. I exported each 3D scene out to different render passes which held very specific information for each frame. I used those passes to drive various post processing effects on top of the main render to give it a more graphic aesthetic. I also dropped the framerate to 12 fps to give it a stop-motion feel. This was a highly stylized and experimental project for me, and I'm just glad the Directors of the show let me go the distance. I am immensely grateful for the Director @hansalmehta and the Co Director @mehtajai for having faith in me to pull this off. This is the last post regarding the making of this sequence.
