  2. De afgelopen week was een achtbaan. Ons leven staat op zijn kop. Wat begon als mijn jaarlijkse controle vanwege het BRCA1-gen, liep al snel uit op een serie onderzoeken: eerst een MRI, toen echo’s, biopten en uiteindelijk ook een PET-scan. Het waren dagen vol spanning en wachten, met steeds de hoop dat het misschien mee zou vallen. Inmiddels is de diagnose duidelijk: ik heb borstkanker. Het gaat om een agressieve vorm, en er zijn uitzaaiingen gevonden in vijf lymfeklieren in mijn linkeroksel. Het goede nieuws: de PET-scan liet gelukkig géén uitzaaiingen op afstand zien. Maar eerlijk: ik heb nog nooit zoveel stress in mijn lichaam gevoeld. Het was alsof ik overal wat voelde en mijn hoofd overuren draaide. De opluchting dat er niets op afstand gevonden is, is groot, maar de spanning van die dagen zal ik niet snel vergeten. Binnenkort start ik met een intensief behandeltraject met als doel: genezing. De komende maanden zullen bestaan uit chemotherapie, gevolgd door een operatie en bestraling. Wat dit precies betekent voor mijn werk en beschikbaarheid, zal ik per fase bekijken. Voor nu weet ik dat ik tijd en ruimte nodig heb om dit traject aan te gaan. Wat me enorm helpt, is dat ik dit niet alleen hoef te doen. Emmo en ik vormen samen een sterk team, en ik voel aan alles dat we dit samen dragen. Ik vecht voor mijn gezondheid, maar bovenal: voor mijn prachtige gezin. Ik ben ontzettend dankbaar voor de liefde, steun en betrokkenheid van onze familie en vrienden. Dat geeft kracht, juist nu 💛

Because i’m well aware that creating content nowadays seems way more important than the actual music/art side of things, which at times makes me feel quite sad, but it is what it is, eh? But regardless whatever the current content hypes may be, i'm absolutely not interested in recording scripted ‘funny’ video’s to gain more traction and/or go viral. I’m a dj, not an actor. Neither am i into creating some sort of an ‘internet personality’ (influencer or meme if you will) for cloud, or move into any of the other desperate (cringe) attention tactics in order to push my ‘product’ and/or “grow my profile”. No disrespect to those who (feel like they have to) go down that route (gotta respect the hustle), but i just want to focus as much as i can on the 1 thing that still excites me the most in life; electronic music, especially House & Techno. I want to share my deep love, passion and obsession for this music with you in a honest, pure and profound (preferably gimmick free) way. Therefore i was more than happy to join @electronicbeats Blind Test, a YouTube show where various artists try to guess ID’s of tracks from a certain period in the history of electronic music; in this case 2000’s Techno (after i previously joined an episode about 90’s Techno). The joy of hearing good (forgotten) music that hits can’t be described into words. it is felt through life changing frequencies, memories and fantasies. And after joining + re-watching both my Blind Test episodes, i think it’s safe to say that THIS is the content i live for and therefore THIS is the content i want to share here with you. ❤️ (Link not in bio -> YouTube -> Blind Test Episode 38 + Episode 6, but just watch all of them if you're up for some musical fun and education :)
