  1. Edit: Yall are right “we” isn’t the right word- I should’ve worded things better. The person I was calling out in this post was myself. And while that statistic was true (https://www.wsj.com/articles/the-high-price-of-fast-fashion-11567096637 and https://earth.org/statistics-about-fast-fashion-waste/), I understand it did not resonate with most. But as embarrassing as it is, it resonated with me. I have been interested in fashion my entire life and when I learned about the horrors behind the fast fashion industry (the treatment of women and children in sweatshops), I decided to make a concious effort to shop sustainably. Unfortunately, this just resulted in me overconsuming from thrift stores. Buying things that I wasn’t going to realisticly wear more than a few times then redonate it. I am currently college student studying fashion and minoring in sustainability and have come to learn that the most sustainable thing you can do is not buy secondhand, but steward what you already own well. Which is what it seems most of you are already doing. I go to a state school where this is not always the norm. It is normal here to buy a new dress for every game day or sorority event and I just wanted to remind people, and myself through a silly challenge that stewardship is sustainability and it is not embarrassing to rewear something you’ve posted in. #sustainablefashion #sustainability #thrifting #vintagefashion #reuse #rewear #outfitrepeating #fashiondesigner #challenge #bigtheif
