  2. Did you know that there’s a place on your lower belly that can stimulate a bowel movement? Find the pointy part of your hips and move your fingers in till they’re at the center of your lower belly. Hold this for 60 seconds, and then complete with a light belly massage. You can also find the point by measuring 3 fingers-width underneath your belly button, and you can also scoop the skin up in your lower belly rather than pressing on it. When you stimulate this space, you are massaging the small intestines, you are pulling on fascia connected to your bowels and pelvic floor, and you are stimulating proprioceptive awareness to your belly, hopefully triggering that rest-and-digest response needed for a bowel movement. This has worked for me for years, and I love showing it to patients. I’ve found that it works on my little guy really well too!
