It stays so true to the heart of the original, while adding even more depth to Lilo and Nani’s story—Maia Kealoha is an absolute star as Lilo! I was a little worried about how the alien scenes would translate into live action (especially for younger kids), but they handled it in such a sweet and thoughtful way. My daughter was especially nervous about one of the original alien characters, and was so relieved when he didn’t show up—it made the whole experience way more enjoyable for her.   1. She’s here! We welcomed her quickly to our family on Saturday morning ❤️ Ayla Katherine Grace June 12th at 6:18am 7lbs 14oz (our smallest baby!) I was in early labour on Friday evening and wondered if things would pick up or slow down. I sent Mark out with friends because I wasn’t sure what would happen and just laid low in bed watching Parks and Rec and wrote a post for Instagram 😅 then I tried to go to sleep. I woke Mark up and called our doula at 2am on Saturday and went into heavy active labour at 4am. We had home births for both of our boys, but with only 1 midwife on call this weekend who was at the hospital in the middle of delivering another baby, we went to the hospital at 5am, my water broke at 6am and she was born a few minutes later. We left the hospital at 1:30pm, stopped to grab a coffee and a cookie from the shop (much needed 😂), and our boys just met her this morning. ❤️ It’s so weird to say “she” - and we couldn’t be happier to have her here. We are excited for this next season…. it should be fun and interesting 🤗😀

  3. He’s here ❤️ Mak Richard Shmelinski 9lbs 1oz (my biggest baby) Born on May 23rd at 4:21pm Our little man baby - with a full head of hair. 😅🥰 This has been such a special experience. I thought Ayla was our last baby, so to have one more birth/newborn makes my heart even more full. It really makes me realize just how special and sacred of a time this is. This pregnancy was much different than my first 3 and pushed me to my limits and mental capacity in many ways. This birth experience was also very different and much more intense — I am legitimately so thankful and in awe of what I was able to do but only with the help of my amazing support team. I believed for a few very specific things with this birth, and while it looked very different getting to that point that I thought (typical), I am so thankful for how the hope I had carried me through a lot of unknowns and intensity. Our last little baby, and our final home birth. ❤️ I really love how different experiences in life are always teaching us new things. A lot of the time it just takes time to really process through — but if you really lean and don’t rush the processing time (which can often feel uncomfortable), you’ll come out the other side with growth and clarity. My very random ramblings from a 1.5 day postpartum mom 😂❤️ This is our family of 6!

Gods redemption story in my life… Something I have never really shared with this platform was that at the beginning of 2021 (1 month before we got pregnant with Ava) my prayer to God was to help me build a stronger relationship with Him. I didn’t know how or where to start. A month later we became pregnant. 20 weeks in we got the first diagnosis. I fully surrendered to the Lord during my pregnancy and after Ava was born I got baptized and saved. Through all the stress and hurt of my pregnancy I believe God was answering my first prayer which was to learn to lean on Him & His understanding. He was teaching me how to have a deep relationship with Him just as I had prayed.   2. How’d I do ? 👀 Baby clothes can be so expensive so why not turn your old clothes into baby clothes ☺️ I’ve wanted to upcycle our clothes for the longest time. I started last Christmas with an old machine that was given to me, but i couldn’t figure out how to work it for the life of me. Might’ve just been too old. I finally bought a new sewing machine recently! Spent hours on YouTube tutorials, researching the machine, studying it online. I finally got the chance to do some actual sewing last night and it was actually very therapeutic! I’m so proud of myself haha. The sweater turned out better than I thought. I mean, I obviously need some more practice but I think I did pretty good 😊 & Zayn looks so cute 💙 #upcycledfashion

Oh, how I love tulips! 💐 It is the perfect time of year right now to learn more about these lovely Spring blooms as they are popping up all over the place! 🌷 We had such a lovely time learning more about them with this Tulip Unit by @teaching.o.and.a. Here are some of the things we did: Science & Nature Studies: We learned more about the anatomy and life cycle of tulips in the resources included in the unit, and a hands on labeling activity using a tulip we had and some anatomy markers I made. We also did a fun activity that involved placing white tulips in jars of water with colored water and watching the tulips change color! History: We spent some time learning more about the history of tulips, including where they originated (did you know they actually originated in Central Asia?) and the famous Tulip Mania (when some tulip bulb varieties sold for as much as a house!). Geography: We took a closer look at the various regions where tulips come from, focusing specifically on Holland! Color Matching & Sensory Play: My youngest had a blast with the color matching activity included in this unit and getting her hands into all those sensory goodies, including the rice tray and play dough!   2. It was literal magic when I finally arrived at our forever home today. It felt like it’s been waiting for us forever, it was meant to be; this is home. As soon as I pulled in the driveway it was like the everything stressful and heavy just melted away… the snow was magic, the kids were beyond excited and it is officially ours @nickpower365 I’ve been waiting for this for so long. The house I lived in for the past 12 years was meant to be a flipped house that I was only supposed to have for a year or two… two babies and a husband later here we are, bursting at the seams and ready to move on. Don’t get me wrong. I have amazing memories in my old house; babies were born, love was lost, blood, sweat and tears were put into that house. All chapters come to an end, and then there is a new beginning. I haven’t cried tears of joy in a long time, today I did. I’m so happy to be home.

This is absurd 😨 Apparently some members of the @vancouverpd think that if you stand in the wrong place at the wrong time with a sign that some people don’t like, that you’re somehow consenting to assault. The footage is adamantly clear that he was peaceful standing, looking for conversation, yes, but not a fight. He couldn’t even finish his interview without people coming inches from his face to swear at him, all while a dozen cops stood nearby. I hate to say it but if you reversed this scenario and those opposing hormone treatment were swearing in the faces of trans activists and one of them swung a punch and assaulted them it would be ALL over the news and there would be charges and arrest made immediately. CALL TO ACTION. What can you do? + CONTACT @vancouverpd. You can send video or email the Vancouver police department and ask why they aren’t pressing charges. + FIND a journalist who will actually cover this. + RESHARE this and TAG the @vancouverpd and call publicly for them to do the right thing. As @mollybroomer said “services are driven by optics as much as anyone else.” Don’t think that by drawing attention to it you can’t make some change.

  2. On November 14, 2017 the Social Worker handed me a beautiful 4 month old little girl. On November 14, 2018 I gave birth to our little miracle after years of infertility. On this day we celebrate both of our children, our two little Blessings. For years I never understood why God wasn’t answering my prayers. It’s amazing to now be able to see the plan he had for us and for our daughter. He knew she needed us and we needed her, our paths had to cross at the perfect time. 8 failed IUI’s, 3 failed IVF transfers and two miscarriages, we had one blastocyst left. 3 months after Nayda came to us , our last little blastocyst was transferred.   1. half marathon number 4 ❤️‍🔥 @ottawaracewknd never disappoints! The crowds were electric, the new course is a new favourite and saw so many amazing friends! I felt so good going into this race. My fitness was the best it’s been maybe ever and I had such a clear head about my expectations and performance. I ran strong book ends…I fell apart in the middle. A couple hills caught me…that along with merging with marathoners going a totally different pace and feeling lost in a sea of people, my head and heavy legs got the best of me km 14-17. Then hitting those crowds on Sussex and remerging with marathoners who were finishing at my pace it was all the energy I needed! I picked it back up and flew to the finish❤️‍🔥 I’ll never lie and say I’m not a bit disappointed I couldn’t rally…but I learned more about myself and racing today and I gathered myself and finished so strong - those facts out weigh it all! 1:44:47 - 3 seconds off my fall PR - I’ll take it 🙌 Thank you Ottawa! I always thought “I’ll wear it when I ‘actually’ have a chance” My feelings have changed over the past few months… I wanna look back and see a dreamer💫 a woman who believed in herself, was brave enough to say the scary words out loud, humble enough to fail, balanced enough not to be defined by it, embraced every step and bend in the road and kept going no matter how long the journey 🏃‍♀️ These squares are my run story… This is a part of the journey!   2. 🌿I’m really thankful to be able to move like this with minimal pain. And I (usually) don’t take it for granted. It’s something I’ve been really intentional about for the last 10 years or so. ✔️We cut the legs off our table when I was pregnant with our third baby. ✔️We got rid of our bed and sleep on the floor. ✔️I choose to sit on the floor every chance I can. I love the movement/exercise I get in summer! When I’m in my garden I have to really focus, though, to make sure I use both sides of my body equally. It’s way easier for me to naturally move in a one-side-dominant way. But balancing is important. Our bodies are wise. They adapt to everything we do. But sunny too✨ As tempting as it is to just curl up under a blanket with a coffee and a book, some ground movement (on my new mat!) is definitely what’s keeping me warm these days! We live in a fairly old, not-very-insulated farmhouse, so there’s loads of chances to need a warm up!❄️ This is a great way to prep for the garden season. 💪🏻 And if you’ve just had a deep tissue massage like I did today, it’ll help all the plinko of parts getting reacquainted with their respective spots. 🤣 I’ve had a bunch of requests for more movement videos, so here you go!
