This time I'm drinking EAU CLAIRE PLOUGHMAN'S RYE.($75 CAD) It's made right here in Alberta and sits at 43 abv. It's spicy as a rye should be but with a pleasant sweetness to it. . . . Apparently, it's also the only rye in the world that uses horse-farmed rye. The darkness of this no colour added beauty always stops me in my tracks ! 😍 Nose : Stewed tropical fruits , nutty vanilla (like on vanilla ice cream) , leather , nutmeg hints , cinnamon dust , dried fruit , and red fruit . Palate : Sweet dried fruit , soft baking spice , bitter chocolate , vanilla . Finish: Long and drying with white pepper and oak notes . Green Box : KAVALAN EX BOURBON OAK 46% I could wear this as perfume . Seriously rub this in your hands and inhale deeply .. aah . Nose: Bright tropical papaya and pineapple fruit notes , tangy pineapple hard candy , coconut , fresh red apple , and vanilla . Palate : Tropical fruit forward sweetness with light oak notes , waxy red apple skin , soft spices . Finish : Soft and unassuming at first only to heat up with white pepper spice that kisses your lips hard upon exit . Delicious 🤤 Such pretty balanced whiskies in GORGEOUS boxes , and super easy to gift ! A toast to LEGACY 🥃✨ Last week, we joined the Forty Creek family (@wearefortycreek) for an intimate, invite-only dinner and tasting at the @universitycluboftoronto — a rare opportunity to raise a glass with their trailblazing Master Distiller Bill Ashburn himself, ahead of his well-earned retirement at the end of the year.   2. Happy Whisky Wednesday!!! 🙌🏼 Kilkerran Cask Strength 8 Year Old Sherry Cask, "Batch 2" @ 56.9%. Will this one be just as good as 2019s highly successful "Batch 1" release? 🍇🍷🥃💣 - All the whisky here has been 100% matured in sherry casks for at least 8 years and bottled at cask strength, and the tasting notes suggest there is even a hint of peat smoke in this edition. Official Tasting Notes 📝 👃🏼: Well-balanced, rich and softly peated. Juicy and sticky with notes of maraschino cherries, vanilla fudge, toffee pudding and coffee beans. Jam and fruit, balanced with a light smoky aroma. 🍒🍮☕ 👅: Lovely dark fruit flavours continue with plum, cherry and sweet raspberry. Cooking apples, lemon glazing, a dusting of dark chocolate powder and a dry yet delicate peat smoke towards the end. Made it to @torontopearson but the weather has delayed the flight to Victoria for @cdnwhiskyawards tonight followed by @victoriawhiskyfestival However, while waiting out the delay, I have been both surprised and impressed with the efforts of the ground crew to clear off the tarmac at the airport. There are multiple massive plows that have built a literal mountain of snow, and then one more plow pushing it into a melter. Now you know how they do it.

The Canadian Club Chronicles Series are the oldest whiskies ever released by the historic brand. @canadianclub Thanks to intel from @canadianclubwhiskyambassador Michael McLean, we’re able to announce that the brand will release their much-anticipated 50 Year in late 2027 (thanks Mike!). Currently, the 45 Year is the oldest Canadian whisky ever bottled for retail sale. Drawn from an original batch of corn whisky distilled all the way back in 1977, Chronicles was released in part to commemorate Canada’s 150th Anniversary in 2017. With the exception of the 40 Year, all have been assigned a nickname associated with the prohibition-era bootlegging activities that stemmed from the Hiram Walker Distillery in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. All have experienced a long maturation period in American oak (ex-Bourbon) barrels. Some are unadulterated, while others exercise the (sometimes controversial) Canadian rule of 9.09% (also known as the 1/11th Rule).
