  3. Have you seen this waterfall before? 👇 This is the hidden waterfall at Sombrio Beach on Vancouver Island BC. It's probably one of the most unique waterfalls I've seen in BC. It looks like something you'd see in a tropical destination! The waterfall goes up a creek that flows out onto the beach. To get to the waterfall, it almost feels like you're walking through a cave. Maybe it's actually considered a small canyon? I'm not sure, but it's really cool. To get the exact directions, you can easily find it by googling it. We found a blog post with precise directions.   2. This weekend, we defied the norm by taking our 5 kids on a winter camping trip at -14°C (7°F) (dipped to -16°C at night). Why? To teach them that life isn’t just about following the usual paths but embracing challenges for unforgettable experiences. Outfitted with our “hot” tent and stove from @citizencanvas, we ventured into the serene, snow-covered landscape, a stark contrast to the crowded and bug-infested sites of summer. The cold brought us closer, sharing stories around the stove, proving comfort isn’t limited to familiar settings and memories can be created anywhere. They’ve currently spent the weekend running around the forest and playing in the snow, or sat in the tent reading books and playing cards/Pokémon 😂 and as far as we can tell, they love it! Winter camping isn’t just about enduring the cold; it’s about discovering peace in solitude, enjoying snow activities, and learning new survival skills. The crisp air made for better sleep, devoid of summer’s muggy nights. And, without the usual wildlife or bugs, it felt safer and more serene. We wanted our kids to see that facing adversity, like the freezing temperatures, can be empowering. It teaches resilience, adaptability, and the joy of carving your own path.   2. A fun post that shows both my painting, and my photo reference. I recently saw a showing that included both, and loved it; so figured I'd do the same. Anyways... this is Mt Athabasca, and its 'North Glacier'. The view is from the Icefields Parkway at the Visitor's Center. I've travelled that road enough now that I can't even remember which trip it was, but I took the time to sit and have coffee there. The wind was whipping around the building so I sat in front of their windows by myself, and just gazed at all that rock. I loved the rolling depth of it all. I always try to imagine how tall a person would be, standing beside the fir trees in the foreground, to feel just how far and high those peaks are. Always brings me a sense of awe, and helps give my life some semblance of perspective. There are big things at work our universe.   3. Slowwwly getting back into the groove today. Flipping through old photos trying to see where my imagination takes me. This. One of my most amazing places to paint ever - the base of Mount Edith Cavell, in Jasper National Park. I was thrilled that I matched the ethereal colour of that water so closely! It was truly that milky green. Hoping to go back again soon; but who knows how the terrain will look since the 2024 fires. Hoping for the best but preparing for the worst.
