  2. This time last year we were one of those couples putting on a brave face after experiencing a missed miscarriage a couple of months prior, just as we were approaching the 3 month “safe” mark of pregnancy. The weeks that followed were full of daily tears and several ultrasounds, doctors appointments, the D&C procedure, and more follow up bloodwork. All of this during a pandemic which meant I had to go into each appt on my own. No one wants to be part of the miscarriage club but I found great comfort in sharing bits and pieces of my story with friends and family and eventually I shared the story on this account back in October to help reduce the stigma even more. More than anything, I wanted to share it because I remember when I would read others’ stories online and how they helped me feel like I wasn’t alone 💕 The biggest lesson I took away from it all was that I needed to accept I can’t control everything. And after having experienced the missed miscarriage, what helped me heal was once I accepted that there was nothing I could or could not have done to change the outcome — it *wasn’t* my fault. Each time I share our story, I receive a few messages from people I know and many from those I don’t know at all, expressing how it was so helpful for them to hear my story and help them feel that they’re not alone. Sometimes I think it’s a bit much that I keep bringing up how Mia is our rainbow baby but I think this is what makes her extra special, and I hope that sharing our story brings hope to anyone reading this and having a hard time right now. Hopefully the hard time you’re going through is temporary and it’ll pass soon 🤞🏽 If you’re waiting for your rainbow baby, I hope everything aligns for you when the time is right. I see you and I’m here if you want to message me and share your story! 🌈🙏🏽 #miscarriage #ihadamiscarriage #missedmiscarriage #rainbowafterthestorm #mothersday

  3. There’s a lot that you don’t always see behind the scenes. The last few months have been a whirlwind managing life as a new mom while working the start of our wedding season, so I recently had to make some tough decisions so I can better make it through the rest wedding season while better balancing life with baby Mia and prioritizing more time to rest instead of being so go-go-go all the time 🏃🏻‍♀️ While all the weddings have been incredible (5 weddings done with a now 5-month-old!) and the couples have thankfully all been so happy, I’ve personally been feeling the pressure build up. It might be the postpartum hormones, it might be wedding season stress, or it might just be the adjustment period of being thrown back into a normal season after two years of pivoting during the pandemic 🥲 I always have very high expectations and want each couple to receive the best attention from me, but I’ve felt that my attention span was starting to get stretched really thin. As we approached peak wedding season, I started to really feel the pressure and anxiety with all the commitments and pressure to perfect all the details. Since my team is already at full capacity, I’ve reached out to and accepted the support offered by other wedding planners so I could personally reduce/better spread out my workload during the next few months. Our team is proud to be collaborating with our friends at @spotlightevents.ca and @sweetheartevents so they can take care of some of our couples and allow me more time to rest/recharge in between our other weddings while they support us with wedding day assistance and wedding coordination by leading some weddings on my behalf (those couples assigned to new lead planners have already been notified and I’m so grateful for their flexibility with these adjustments) 🙏🏽 This was such a hard decision to make but I am feeling so much better (and more at peace) knowing the weddings I have left this year are now more spread out and I will have more breaks in between to be able to better recharge and be able to enjoy some quality time with Mia, Matt, and Bubzi before the rest of the year flies by. 3. Hello! I’m new to Kelowna and am appreciating the chance to meet so many new people, and stay in touch with friends from home. I find myself answering a lot of the same questions so thought I’d take a moment to share here, along with a few other random anecdotes for good measure. Any you can relate to? Respond below! ⚪️ I moved with my husband and two boys. Our parents and siblings are in Ontario and Australia but we have several other relatives throughout BC we’re excited to visit. Plus our guest beds are being put to good use! ⚪️ We sort of moved for work in a less traditional sense…John’s work is remote which gave us great flexibility and Kelowna was an appealing market for me to relocate to…I’ve connected with several lovely organizers, all of whom seem quite busy and even kindly offered referrals 🙏 ⚪️ Our boys started school here in May and we lucked out with how much is opening and they/I can participate in. It helps to make new friends and settle in. ⚪️ As a BCOMM grad, I’m feeling very nostalgic since joining the @kelownachamber and connecting with an engaged business community. ⚪️ Kelowna is bringing out the creativity in all of us…our oldest started a YouTube channel and our youngest is pursuing his own entrepreneurial efforts selling cold drinks outside. I’m having fun decorating our home as I finish my interior decorating certificate program. ⚪️ We love it here so far…amazing hikes, welcoming people, great wineries/restaurants and we also really really miss our neighbours and friends from home. ❤️ We appreciate all the intros you’ve made to other friends here and it makes Canada and the world feel smaller and more connected. ⚪️ I’m also getting out of my comfort zone to put myself out there. We recently had two magazines photographing us at our home.
