Leaving the race track behind and falling in love with building jumps, turns, and practicing repetitiously on sections of trail, allowed her to progress her skills fast and emerge as a leader in freeride mountain biking. Vero had a dream, built a plan, and then went out and made it happen.   2. After 12 years in the professional peloton, I’ve decided that I’m ready to invest my energy in other things away from WorldTour racing. Thank you to everyone who helped me on this journey! I never imagined when I first stepped on a bike as a young girl back in Winnipeg that I would one day compete in two Olympic Games, race professionally and represent Canada proudly for so many years on the international stage 🇨🇦 I am forever grateful for all the support I’ve received along the way. I’m proud of what I accomplished during my career, and how far I pushed my mental and physical limits as an athlete. I also feel fortunate that I got to help contribute to the success of many teammates during this time - with one of my favourite victories definitely being the 2017 World Championships TTT win in Bergen!🌈 I am so grateful for everything sport has brought to me. I grew up and developed as an athlete surrounded by empowered women who taught me to embrace my strengths, and to not accept the status quo of society. Throwback to 8 years ago, where I couldn't believe that I was standing on the podium on the Champs-Élysées next to these superstars!🥉 I remember the electric atmosphere on the start line for the first edition of La Course by @letourdefrance . We all hoped this moment in history was a step towards the return of a full stage race for women. It took a few years, but that moment is finally here with @letourfemmes ! 🇫🇷 I won't be on the start line this year, but will be cheering very loud for @teamdsm_ !   3. This past week has just been amazing. Despite the cold and damp air, the 2019 Pan Am Games finished on a very high note for me. Today started off with a 4th place finish in the mixed team round with @ahnnecognita, followed by a gold medal win with my teammates @eric_peters.97 and @bwellmax, and finished off with a gold medal win over the amazing Marcus D’Almeida. These two gold medals represent all the hard work and dedication I’ve been putting into archery this summer both on and off the field and I thank everyone who has supported me along this journey. To cap it all off, Canada has officially secured a men’s spot going to the Tokyo Olympics in 2020 for archery with the results here in Lima, Peru. Mission accomplished!

I thought this was THE move until I had to reorganize and divide my materials into multiple bags to make the load manageable 💡 You don’t need EVERYTHING done by day 1 of school… I still need to sort out the books in the classroom and the teacher desk has tons of papers for me to sift through. Certain things that don’t impact the students’ learning experience can be dealt with throughout the first week! 💡 Meet colleagues and don’t be afraid to ask for help 😊. I asked about photo copying and lunch procedures which gave me peace of mind for the first day.   2. Everyone has their ups and downs. Days where they love their body and days where they absolutely hate it. I promise you, we ALL HAVE THEM! • • I have days where I feel absolutely bloated and unhappy with my progress! Then I realize that I need to appreciate my body. It does an amazing job of keeping me healthy and ALIVE! I can continue to work towards my goals as long as I treat my body well! Progress does not happen over night. Out bodies constantly evolve and adapt to all of our needs! • • When I did this shoot I felt amazing.
