I said what I said. 👀📝 Sidebar- I want to clarify that the point of this discussion isn't to insult the people out there who like that sort of top, truly wear whatever makes you feel good - but to talk about the shift I'm seeing in what brands are releasing in plus. In case you haven't noticed, I have yet to read a fashion story this year about plus size fashion not centered around glp-1s. There is no reporting or discussion beyond the size of models on runways and what brands have closed. We aren't talking about the clothing being made and the very distinct trends within plus size design currently emerging and I think it's important to discuss it and push back against this resurgence of plus size clothing moving AWAY from the designs and aesthetic of straight size clothing. We literally just want the same options as our straight size counterparts, and it keeps getting further away. 🙃🙃🙃

  2. I don’t usually start with the back picture first - but this drape! This fit!!!!!! 🖤🤎 👀 Super completely influenced by the Beyond Nine sets, I wanted to create my own. For this mega March sewing project, I used two new to me patterns, which is a feat for me as I love my TNTs 😮‍💨 I wanted two garments that would be 🧨 together, but also really strong stand alone separates. I think I achieved it! 🧵: the button up is the #taloversizedshirt by @theassemblylineshop. I made a size Medium and shortened the front and back pieces by 3 inches. First of all, let me say that I love love loved making this. It was so straightforward and well written and just made sense. Button ups are a true labour of love and this went better than any other one I’ve made. I saw that others had used the burrito method instead when making this, but I stuck to instructions and everything looks smooth and professional. I could have easily sized down to a S, but I was wanting a biiiiiig oversized shirt. I also could have shortened it another 1-2 inches, but love this look. 🧵: balloon pants are the #bobpants and I made a size 8, which is my size on the chart. I have to say that I didn’t enjoy making these. The waistband construction was so so 🫠. I missed my pomonas. But I do love the pockets (I did put them an inch higher) and the overall shape. I shortened the leg by 1” (I am 5’4). 🧵: fabric is by the wonderful @matchymatchysewingclub and is a deep brown and black striped linen.   1. I mourned this coat for years 🥺. This was my first quilted garment. At the time (2018), the Tamarack jacket was super popular, but I was out of their size range. So I made this one with a McCall's pattern. I was working with @dailylikecanada fabric at the time. About a year after making it, I went to get it out of storage, and I couldn't find it anywhere! I realized I must have accidentally included it with a donation I made a few months prior 😭. I tore my house apart looking for it. I resigned myself to the fact it was gone, but every few months, I would feel a stab in my heart thinking about it. I found it last night on the very top shelf of our closet under a pile of bags. It is with many emotions that I announce that Studio d will be closing and moving out of our location at 340 Gladstone Ave. at the end of February. Combining a retail location with sewing production has been amazing - a dream come true - but at the same time very challenging. After 12 years in business, I feel the need to move towards a new lighter chapter.   2. You may be wondering why I have yet to release a new Spring collection. As you can imagine, having my own line has always come with challenges, but more so recently. Sadly, I have decided to no longer design collections, essentially scaling things down as I think about reinventing myself. I do plan to list some select items on my website from time to time so keep an eye open for these. It was, of course, a very difficult decision to make. Your ongoing support over the last 19 years kept me going. And for that, I thank you from the bottom of my heart❤️ Vous vous demandez peut-être pourquoi il n'y a toujours pas de nouvelle collection de printemps. Une cérémonie commémorative aura lieu le dimanche 16 mars, de 13h30 à 18h00, au Pavillon de la Jamaïque sur l’Île Notre-Dame à Montréal.
