  3. I have worn several pieces over the last few days, each different and special and unique. Some made of corn, vinyl, silk, and leather… But this one… it’s called “LAND” by Naomi Bourque, and it spoke to me in a special kind of way. As soon as I walked into the room she grabbed me and said “I have something you NEED to wear.” She had seen the show the night before and instantly had this pull, that I had to wear this piece. It had a ferocity to it the moment I felt it slip over my head… the wolf claws wrapped around my shoulders like a familiar hug, and protective embrace. My very first sweat lodge, 4 years ago… I had a vision of a wolf. He looked at me in the darkness of the lodge and our eyes locked. Neither looking away, until suddenly he turned and slowly walked away. I had a feeling in that moment that I was meant to follow the wolf. He was going to lead me somewhere I needed to go. I got a wolf tattoo on my arm not long after to remind me of the vision so it would never slip into my forgetful over stretched rarely rested brain. Then I met my partner and I still remember sending the text “Are you wolf clan?” When I put it on it felt the wolf wrap its arms around me, and every step of that runway I felt him walking with me. Naomi chose me to wear this one for a reason. That walk was really special. It felt like a moment. I don’t know that I’ve had many moments like that with a piece of clothing. But these creations are more than that. They have life. I felt it. We need more clothes like this. There is a different relationship to the garments that we make.   3. This post comes with a heavy heart. I needed time to process my Father’s passing, time to feel when to make it public or if I even do. I’ve learnt over the past month that my Dad positively influenced so many people and that joy needed to be shared. These were my words to say goodbye… I’ve spent the last few days wondering what to say, how to say it and each time it starts with memories. Sitting and talking in a car on trips along winding highways or sat in the dark around a campfire in the middle of the forest. These memories grew and wove together as if one important moment had happened over the decades of my youth . Thread together by the life lessons my Dad instilled in me in a way that never seamed like lectures. Never felt like the parental pressures. Dad always saw excitement in my eyes and loved to hear me talk about what discovery I had made. How cool something was or what adventure I wanted to embark on. With patience he would listen and at the right moment he would inject his wisdom in a way that made me think I was the most amazing person in the world. He would listen to my failures, hear my disappointments. He would understand my mistakes and correct them with the encouragement to dust myself off and get back at it with a reminder to never forget the lesson learnt. In these last years our highways and campfires turned into early morning coffee’s via FaceTime or in-person. These were filled with discussions of current events but mostly advice about my career. Helping me make the right choices with examples of moments in his past. To hear about the day to day business decisions I was making and explaining how I came about it brought him absolute joy. Joy knowing his campfire talks truly did sink in. I owe my success to you, Dad, like many other do. In the last few days, hearing stories from your friends and family around the world tells me that you had a campfire for each and every person you cared for. I know those fires will continue to burn and be passed along. Dad, may your legacy burn bright forever.
