  2. Restoring The 1930s ~ Proposal Gown Last week I shared a Vintage Dress inspired by the movie - The Proposal. I am so thrilled by all the love this one received - so I couldn’t help but start the restoration right away . This early 1930s dress ( the owner believed it to be from a wedding in 1931) definitely took a lot of work . From the extreme staining - (a brooch was definitely worn and most likely this dress was stored with it ), along with wood acid burns , dirt , unknown black marks, some minor holes and unstitched seams . But considering this dress is over 90 years old, and was previously worn , it is in great condition. So with 4 washings and 5 rounds of stain treatments, around five or six hours of ironing, 32 buttons, seams that needed to be resewn , and some minor hole repair ( not sure what the train was caught on ), its close to it’s former glory. This dress still has some finishing work and I do have a waitlist for anyone interested , but should be ready to go for sale in about a week or two . 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗠𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝗬𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝗗𝗮𝗶𝘀𝘆 𝗗𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 🌼⁣ ⁣ This donated Vintage Wedding Gown truly shocked me when I opened it up . ⁣ ⁣ ( unboxing is 1 reel back) This lovely gown was worn September 19, 1970 While, the Daisy embroidered lace is a beautiful echo of the late 60s and early 70s. The staining and yellowing was quite severe. ⁣ ⁣ But I was up for the challenge . ⁣ ⁣ I am still in shock with the restoration ! I had no idea I could restore it to be this white. ⁣ ⁣ Although this restoration is not without its setbacks - and while the lace cleaned up well the areas with severe staining broke down the thread structure causing fiber degradation resulting in a few holes in the sheer fabric . ⁣ ⁣ This gown will need some reworking but either way turned out stunning . ⁣ ⁣ What do you think ? ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ #vintagefashion #restorationjourney #1960swedding #1960sfashion #sustainablefashion #restoration #sustainablewedding #1970sfashion #1970swedding

I may have been screaming and running 90% of the time but I did see some of it. 😏 This was so terrifying, but the made to order apple cider donuts will make it worth your while. There are “kids days” coming up - I remember coming when I was younger with my family. It’s a special place to Hudson Valley dwellers and is even recognized outside of the US! There were people from different countries there last night to see the action. This is a must see - when are you going?
