  1. 1 rep max tests are a waste of time for most people. Strength is a skill. Like any other skill, it needs regular practice to get better. For most of us, we’re not regularly practicing max lifts. So when you show up for that test, you’re not really prepared for it and they’re not a clear representation of your real strength and progression in training. Instead, I’d focus on the boring stuff. Work on improving your lifts within the ~5 to 20 rep range, rinse and repeat til the end of time. There are obvious exceptions, like powerlifters & olympic lifters. And of course, if you simply want to do it for funsies which is an absolutely legitimate reason. For Bianca, we set a goal about 6 months ago to hit 3 plates. And with this new PR, we’re within striking distance. Then we can retire back squats forever 😂

Shoutout to the brave men at the end 😂 In all seriousness though, let’s talk about peeing while lifting. 1️⃣ Around 25-50% of women experience urinary incontinence in the gym. 2️⃣ It’s not just when lifting max weights. For context, that was a warm up for Bianca and many women will experience it when sneezing, laughing, running and jumping. 3️⃣ It’s not just about muscle strength. Hormonal fluctuations, psychological stress, childbirth and bone structure all play a role in it - so don’t beat yourself up if it happens to you. You’re not weak or broken. 4️⃣ Even if you DON’T pee when you lift, most people SUCK at bracing properly using their pelvic floor. Yes, that includes men too. 5️⃣ Incontinence when lifting can be a sign of improper bracing techniques, but again, that’s not the only thing that contributes. 6️⃣ It’s absolutely worth speaking with pelvic floor physios and doing targeted work to learn how to train, strengthen and relax the muscles Hope this helps!

Curious - What are you training today? 🦸🏽‍♀️ It's Monday here in Australia and I'm training Glutes 🍑 It's definitely the hardest muscle group to grow for me so I like it hit it after a rest day (Sun) 💚 Also good to start your week with a glute pump 😅 Right now, my goals are NOT just physical goals but also performance goals. Today’s glute session was nervous - nerves are good and they allow you to try to push harder. Don't be comfortable.
