  1. Today is a pretty significant day in my life. Senator Armidala and I are celebrating two years of marriage. (That's my wife's alter-ego, but she never goes by it because she isn't a Star Wars nerd like me). While 2 years isn't 50... I want to share two parallel principles I see with marriage and fitness. 1. You don't win your marriage and you don't win your health. There is no destination outside of death that signifies the end. There is no Yavin Ceremony saying "You did it! You're done!" The goal is to stay married just like the goal is to stay healthy. It's an infinite game where the reward is the process, not the end of the journey. 2. Starting is easy. The real sign of commitment is when things get hard. Saying your going to get in shape is fun and exciting. Just like the wedding day is fun and exciting. What's not as fun and exciting is when things get hard. When it's 8pm and it's raining outside, but you committed to getting your steps in. When it's a random Tuesday in September, the kids are screaming, the dishes are piled up, and you're both stressed at work. You have to choose to commit to your goals every day. Words are meaningless. Only through actions is your true integrity and discipline revealed. Now that I'm typing this out... There's really 3 lessons. The 3rd lesson is giving yourself grace. You're going to fall short of the person you want to be. Nobody is perfect. It's your ego that convinces you that you and everyone else around you needs to be perfect. Give yourself some grace. Failure is inevitable. But as Master Yoda says, "The greatest teacher, failure is." Happy anniversary @haleyoswold ❤️

To the cycle community at Flow: my heart is breaking and I was too sad to announce it tonight in my 4:30. I love you. Truly I do. Cycling at Flow was one of the only things holding me together from 2020 onward when things were hardest with mandates, lockdowns and other tough emotional hardships. . This is one of the hardest things I’ve had to do in my career but it’s the best thing for me at the end of the day. Plus, we’ll still see each other 💙! I’m still at Flow and still teaching Flow FIT (the workout formerly known as team conditioning). I’ll be on site often doing manager things and connecting with you about your lives . . As gyms and studios , we have a responsibility to do everything we can to make ALL members and clients feel safe. We can make little tweaks or big changes. . My little tweak is thinking of fun ways to address my class instead of “you guys” or “ladies.” I love “team” and you know “party people” is my favorite. . I am so proud to work for @flowfitnessseattle , who as a business decided to modify their locker room signage. This has been “a thing” for a couple of weeks and as far as I know, there have been zero complaints and everyone has happily welcomed the gesture of inclusiveness. .   2. Baby SISTER is here. Mira Esme Halverson. You are tiny and fierce. I dreamt of a little girl with dark hair a couple weeks ago and it’s as if my soul knew. Your story from the beginning is beautiful. You were a fighter and so a name that means “wonder” and “peace” seems fitting now. Esme because you are beloved. If you love birth stories as much as I do, keep reading 🫶 I woke up at 11:29 with cramping and felt like I had to pee. While I was peeing felt lots of pressure and cramping was more intense. I look at my phone and it’s 11:40 and I start to wonder if it’s contractions. Went to bed and started to track. 8 min later another one— weirdly emry cried out and Andy woke up to that. I told him I think I may be in labor but I’ll let you know if more contractions and literally next ones were 7 min apart and then 5. We decided to head to the hospital asap and I called the triage on way to hospital. We go to check in and they are slammed. The nurses said they would check me but I may need to wait in lobby and I told them I don’t think so— contractions were 2 min apart and I knew I was dilated 🤣. Sure enough 9 cm dilated and pretty much fully effaced. Asked me to stay on the bed and rushed me on the bed to delivery. I labored there on the floor while they did intake/got iv antibiotics started due to GBS+. We checked your position and I was fully dilated, bulging bag, head down. Got on my side. One round of contractions. 2 pushes for head one for body and you were here! No tears or complications. Third natural birth and the quickest ✨ I’m so glad your daddy ran red lights and got us to the hospital on time. Showed up to triage a lil before 1 am and born at 2:01 am. It was a very calm labor despite the rush to get to a hospital. I knew I could do it and just focused on my breath using the meditations and mantras I’ve practiced and Andy was so calm and reassured me I could do this.   3. If the Riri music video wasn’t clear 🤣 we are beyond grateful and excited to be expecting baby no 3 in April. Pregnancy announcements can be very triggering but I share my story because it was unlike any of my journeys thus far. To those who have followed along you know I experienced miscarriage between Luka and Emry. I thought that was one of the hardest experiences but then this pregnancy rocked me. We were surprised to find out we were pregnant on our wedding anniversary (the morning after flying back from Bosnia). I started to suspect I was pregnant while abroad but wasn’t sure (so Andy got double servings of rakija 🙃). Two weeks later I experienced two major bleeds on separate occasions. I’ll spare details but our OBGYN suspected another miscarriage after the second bleed. I went in for bloodwork and got a call saying I needed an urgent US because my HCG levels were high. During the US they found a large mass in my uterus and a viable pregnancy. A SHOCK. They weren’t sure if it would become a molar pregnancy or if I had a failed twin or just an unusually large hematoma. I had frequent monitoring, was told to pause on strenuous workouts given my recent bleeds. I was a mess. I was terrified. 2 weeks later molar pregnancy was ruled out but a large chorionic hemorrhage was present. I was at increased risk of miscarriage, pregnancy complications and premature labor if things progressed. I am so thankful for friends, family, Andy and my therapist as I navigated months of unknowns. I waited to share this announcement publicly until repeat US confirmed a healthy baby and my hemorrhage was reabsorbed. It seems this baby is a strong fighter and we will need a name that’s fitting! So we aren’t finding out gender. All I want is a healthy baby and healthy mama.   2. You remember the part in City Slickers when Billy Crystal says ‘Look what I found!,’ and points at his smile? That’s what Power Monkey Camp 23 did for me. I found my smile again. I found joy in movement again. And I discovered I’d been WAY too hard/down on myself and my menopausal/aging body, and just generally selling myself short since turning 50 last summer. It’s been a rough transition, complete with a series of injuries…being at camp helped me snap out of my funk. This was my 4th camp, and every time I go I ask myself if it’ll be the last one—if I’ll have gotten my fill this time. The answer is always no—there’s always more to learn, amazing people from all over the world to meet/befriend, and it never fails that #powermonkeycamp fills my cup. It’s one of the highlights of my year, every year. Once again, I’m so grateful for connecting with people who’ve become friends over the years at camp, time spent with amazing people, top notch coaching that makes me want to be a better coach, the chance to become a better athlete, and to hit the reset button.   3. Happy 34th Birthday to my... HUSBAND!!! That’s right, we did it! 💍 On Friday 4/17, the LOVE OF MY LIFE got down on one knee and asked me to marry him- SO I DID!   1. This is my natural hair and I haven’t worn it natural since I was really young. My mom started having my hair relaxed when I was 5 years old. Way way too young, I don’t even like to think about it. From then on, I consistently got my hair relaxed, while simultaneously damaging it tremendously from also using heat tools on my hair daily. I haven’t gone without weave or extensions since I was in high school. Growing up in an area with such few black people, people asked me way too much about my hair. People would touch it without permission, and say “well, what does your REAL hair look like”?? And nonstop make me feel uncomfortable regarding my appearance. I have black hair. Leave me alone. I am finally confident wearing my hair natural and it’s unfortunate it took me this long to feel this way. But I’m proud of myself and I don’t blame myself for it taking this long. I love being black.

  2. Uh ohhh!! proof of life post!!! Some new pics, some months old!! So many life changes since I last posted (back in November omg 🫣) Anywho- look at the beautiful people in my life!!! So many changes lately, I’m about to move, I have a different job, and I finally started teaching Pilates at @trufusionwashington I’ve been so lucky to be supported by my amazing partner and my girlfriends. I don’t know what I would do without y’all!!! My animals are my joy and I’m so thankful for their presence in my life- Molly cat is doing good, still a naughty tot, but good. My bunnies are happily bonded, and healthy. I’m doing good at my job. And i feel an urge to go back to school and pursue higher education…just an idea. Anywho- thanks for reading! Muah!
