  3. 100% Cancer Free — Dec. 2014 - May 2021 For those of you who don’t know me closely, this may come as a surprise; Because it’s something that I previously haven’t been very open about with anyone besides close family & friends. But, 6.5 years ago I was diagnosed with papillary thyroid cancer and lymphoma as a sophomore in college. Up until a few months ago, although in remission, I had still been ‘battling’ to be completely free of my diagnosis; however this week I found out that my most recent tests came back 100% clear for the first time. — With anxiety/stress from the initial diagnosis, the cancer metastasizing to my lungs, getting surgery to remove my thyroid & 18 lymph nodes, receiving radioactive treatment, suffering a severed nerve & partial paralysis in my left shoulder, and instances of severe depression/anxiety/mood problems as a side effect of the process; It’s been a long journey, with a lot of ups-and-downs while trying to keep things ‘low-key’, stay in school, work, start personal training, and pretend to be as ‘normal’ as I could. — It’s undoubtedly been the most difficult time of my life; pushing me to some of the darkest places mentally and physically that I’ve ever been, and it’s hard to put exactly how that feels into words. But, what I can say, is that its helped me grow Immensely as a person; teaching me invaluable lessons about the meaning of life, who I am, human nature, the power of will/determination, and value of adversity; all for which I’m extremely grateful. — Now, even though I still have to take medication and have some difficulties on a daily basis, Im happy to finally be able to feel that ‘normal’ that I pretended to be for so long; and thankful to have made it to a 10x better place than I was in those darkest moments. — I truly love and appreciate all of the friends/peers and family who have stuck with me, been encouraging, and tried to understand, even in those hard times when I might not have made it so easy to do so; I really couldn’t have made it without y’all. — Here’s to being thankful for having more years ahead, and continuing to seek improvement & pushing through the challenges in both training and in life. 🙏🤙

I started my weight loss journey eight years ago to achieve better health and improve my self-esteem. From being close to 300 lbs. and 40% body fat to my current 12% body fat, I'm so proud of how far I've come. I'm incredibly thankful to have found a fantastic trainer, @jenniferfreyfitness , who provides me with great workout plans that include progressive overload every week. Also, she gives me a nutrition plan based on my body type and workout schedule to help me retain muscle during a cut. I've added a substantial amount of weight to all of the main lifts working with her.
