  2. The other day, a client showed me a video of the wife of his friend getting trained by a coach. It was a Romanian deadlift with a dumbbell and the coach was counting the reps as she was basically just bending forward. Hamstrings weren’t activated, there was no hingeing, it was a disaster waiting to happen. It’s really disappointing to see at this day and age, a lot of fitness trainers are still failing in doing the bare minimum in coaching. Which is teach people to safely perform exercises. I remember when Covid hit and a lot of fitness trainers were begging the govt to open gyms But now it’s open and flood gates of clients are endless, a lot of trainers are still stuck with their ways of just counting reps. And you wonder why you can’t retain clients. We should do better. We can do better. This industry is the only business that really transcends social classes. No matter how wealthy or poor you are, you need to find fitness in your life. Fitness is literally the main denominator in any one’s success.   3. My Lola and Lolo both passed away last Sunday. One at 1am and the other at noon. Lola from Papa’s side was 103. Up until she was 102 she would play the piano and even memorize new pieces. She went to the doctor when we was 100 to have her fingers checked. She came home pissed! “You know what the doctor told me? You know what he told me?? Because you know, I said, doctor my fingers have no feelings. They are numb. I cannot play. Maybe I need b vitamins for my nerves. And you know what he told me? You knooow what he toooold me??!! He said ma’am there’s nothing wrong with you. And I said yes there’s something wrong with me! And he said ma’am you are just OLD!!! I cannot believe I paid 500 for someone to tell me I’m old. I already know that!!” She had fake cockroaches in her room to scare guests with, she would play pranks on people, tend to her garden, and entertain guests. She loved having us over. She loved arts and crafts. She bought an origami book one time and then realized she couldn’t figure it out so my adult boy cousins had to sit at the coffee table with her, folding all the little pieces of paper to make mobiles. Loooots of mobiles. She was very down to earth, she was kind, she was fun. And when she was bedridden, dramatic hahaha. The most important life tip I learned from her was when she was 102 when she told our dad (also a senior haha) to start hanging out with people younger than him. “Uldarico! You act old. Maybe because all your friends are old! Naaa, you look for young ones. Look at me oh!” To which we all replied “But you don’t have a choice! All your friends are dead!” 😅 that same year, she also requested for candles on her birthday cake. We told her we didn’t want to burn the house down. Age is just a number. She (and Lolo) never failed to remind me of this. Tomorrow I’ll write about Lolo. This is the closest to a eulogy I’ll get this pandemic and I want to share little things about them because they deserve it.
