  2. POV: she finally decided to put herself first 🌻🤍 I often forget about the journey that has lead me to be who I am today. If I am honest, when memories pop up on my phone, it is often very difficult to see. This isn’t due to me not being proud of myself (I am EXTREMELY proud of the the journey I have been on in the last 2 years). The reason I find it so difficult looking back is because when I look at the girl in the photos and the videos, I can remember how she felt, I can remember the day I promised myself that I would never feel the way I felt again. A few weeks ago I was reminded about how far I have come and that it is something to be celebrated. I decided to write a letter to my past self to tell her about all the progress we have made in the last 2 years that people can see, while also touching on the things people can’t🤍 Although I won’t share the whole thing, I canted to share a little snippet to “celebrate”. “Sister, you have done some amazing things in the last two years: - We now wear shorts to the gym and love it. - we often take off our shirt while working out without a second thought. - We don’t sit in our car eating KFC shamefully in the dark anymore BUT we still love a cheeky zinger burger combo. - we have participated in 5 gym comps (I know, super crazy), one of those being in Queensland🤯 - we have worked on everyday to develop habits to change our lifestyle and lost 38kg in the process… - We go to the gym for fun now?! - We don’t look in the mirror and cry anymore, in fact you regularly take mirror selfies instead! We also wear clothes that actually fit us and don’t use our clothes to hide! - We go into the change room now and try on clothes without anxiety (even in kookai!) - You have stopped caring what others think and work towards creating the life you want to live everyday - You are happy. You love and are loved in return. Your friends are your family. - You love being strong, you don’t mind that your thighs touch and you’re not afraid to take up space.” I hope this helps others who may feel like there isn’t a light at the end of the tunnel, I promise you it gets better🌻

  3. I never hit my goal weight, My thigh gap never appeared, I never attained those washboard abs that all the people in my “fitspo” images had, my body still has rolls, lumps and dimples but I am the healthiest, fittest and happiest I have ever been🤗 When I first started my journey, I wrote out a list of goals (all of which were based on my physical appearance) and created a vision board of all my fitspo (most of which i later learned had a completely different body type to me meaning I would NEVER look this way). I believed that if I achieved those goals it would make me happy. I don’t blame my younger self for thinking this way as I didn’t know any better, I knew I was uncomfortable with who I was and blamed it on the only thing I could physically see “wrong”👀 I now know that I needed the process more than I needed the destination, I needed to learn to trust in myself, learn to feel proud of who I was (regardless of how I looked). I needed to learn that movement is a reward and not a punishment, I needed to learn that consistently maintaining the same weight is a good thing rather than a bad plateau. I needed to learn that the best parts of me has nothing to do with the way I look. I needed to learn that eating well doesn’t mean chicken, rice and broccoli and that it is totally acceptable to eat the delicious foods you love as long as you’re fuelling your body with whole foods aswell. Most importantly, I needed to learn that there is more to life than worrying about a number on a scale that only you know. There is more to life than worrying about others opinion of you and how your body looks to them. How your life makes you feel, the person you are and how you feel about yourself matters more. Although I am extremely proud of my weightloss, I feel as though the progress that people can’t see is what I am most proud of🙌🏼🤍
