I lived across the globe from my family and was self employed - 🤷🏻‍♀️ 𝘄𝘁𝗳 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗜 𝗴𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗼?!?! Motherhood is associated with love, joy and celebration. Everyone expects us to be happy and grateful for this miracle. So why wasn’t I? I must be an awful person (👉insert more shame here). During an early ultrasound the tech said “𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗚𝗥𝗔𝗧𝗦! 𝗜’𝗹𝗹 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳𝗳 𝗮𝗻 𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝘁 𝗼𝗻 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺”. He meant well but I wanted to cry and throw up🤢 . As much as I wouldn’t change my story now, we need to normalize NOT LOVING an unexpected life change. Our own norms or struggles should not invalidate another’s feelings. Let’s have compassion and offer support wherever someone is at in their journey 💕. To those ladies that I’ve had this exact convo with lately, big hugs to you.
