Holiday review: Bella Italia, Lake Garda If you are looking for a budget friendly holiday with loads to do and places to explore, then I would highly recommend this fantastic @eurocampholidays The first thing that appealed to me was that car hire is not needed. Bella Italia is only a 20 minute taxi ride away from Verona Airport and only 2km away from the nearest town of Peschiera. The resort itself is big and we chose to stay in this comfortable safari tent, which is Eurocamp’s cheapest accommodation option. It was also literally only a one minute walk from the lakeside beach. We are happy in tent accommodation, but there are plenty of lodge options if canvas isn’t for you! One thing Bella Italia is know for is its huge pool complex. It is so much fun with water features and slides for big and little kids. Also, to keep the kids happy, you will find a kids’ club and a mini fairground. Our favourite thing was the lakeside beach. It felt amazing to swim in the warm, clear, fresh water and we loved the paddleboard and pedalo hire, which was very reasonably priced. I am not the type of person to stay in one place, so we did plenty of trips too: We took a boat from peschiera to Sirmione, an absolutely stunning Garda town where we visited the waterfront castle, are gelato and fresh lemonade (and I got a bit of a taste for Aperol Spritz) The kids really enjoyed visiting the zoo, Parco Natura Viva, where we were able to spend all day exploring and playing. There is a safari option too, if you do decide to hire a car. I couldn’t go to this part of the world and not go to Venice. We took the train, which was clean and easy to navigate, and enjoyed a beautiful day in this bucket list city. And, oh my word, the food. I had so many delicious meals and the kids were more than happy with all of the pizza and pasta.   3. Lumiere, the UK’s leading light art biennial is back in Durham from 13th-15th November with 26 installations lighting up the city and wider County Durham area. The pieces range from large scale commissions by renowned international artists to community projects made by people from Durham. I was invited along for preview night. I would recommend getting their early and downloading the Lumiere app for the latest information. If you don’t have a ticket, you still don’t have to miss out. Half of the installations are outside of the ticketed area, including at Locomotion in Shildon which is area a 25 minute drive from the city centre. If you are travelling to Durham City, car parking will be extremely busy. I would advise making use of the park and ride bus services which are open later than normal and running more frequently for the event. She was such a joy to my family and I, a loyal, gentle, caring soul with a huge heart and a massive presence. She was my fluffy four legged bush buddy - calmly protecting me, keeping me warm, sharing my steak, doing the dishes, chasing swans, collecting tinder, leaping out of the canoe, filling my boots with drool, but most importantly being just the best company anyone could ever want - we had some amazing adventures together over those short few years we shared.   3. I recently walked the Great Glen Way with Mrs In the woods - 78 miles across the Scottish highlands from Ft William to Inverness. We were very lucky with the weather - only one wet day! But the midges were brutal… Having canoed the GGW, I was keen to walk it too - giving me (us) a different viewpoint looking down onto the water rather than up from it. Although much of the route is along forestry tracks amongst dense pine forest, when the vistas did open up, they were breathtaking! I’m afraid I didn’t film this one - it was a walk for us to enjoy without the cameras.   3. When the plans make it out of the group chat. Still reminiscing about how good Wednesdays hike up and across the Cuillin ridge on the Isle of Skye was. It was easily the best hike I’ve ever done, with some of the best mountain views I have ever seen. It was made even better by some top quality company. It was great catching up with @willem.explores and @robert_mcskimming and also meeting @scottishmaninavan the first time. Alongside it being an incredible day of hiking across the best ridge in Scotland, it was a barrel of laughs from start to finish It was topped off by the incredible sunset from Sgùrr na Banachdich. From the summit of this Munro, we were treated to majestical 360 degree views over the west coast of Scotland, including the Isle Of Skye, the Scottish Highlands, the Outer Hebrides, and the Small Isles. The best view was looking west down the Cuillin ridge towards the Inaccessible Pinnacle. The snow capped peaks lit up under the glow of the setting sun as we soaked it all in.   2. Imagine living here on this island with a lighthouse... Pretty good way to experience the elements!   2. It’s been a while since I’ve been able to get out hiking as admittedly has some real struggles with my mental health over the past 4-5mths in particular. But at the end of September managed to get away for a couple of days with the Mrs in the Lakes…just what i needed. No filming…just getting back out in the hills doing some I love and passionate about. Not sure why I’m struggling so much getting out but really needed this one. Don’t worry, I’ve not given up YouTube. It’s something I really passionate about and absolutely love sharing my adventures and helping others in their hiking journey too. I just need to get back into the swing of getting out again first. When I come back I want to be regular again not hit and miss. Winter for me is a time I thrive. I don’t know why I struggle over the summer. But snow, cold and winter hikes and camps really make me feel alive.   2. Decided to go with a classic butternut squash soup for lunch today, perfect for a damp January day!
