  1. On multi day hikes every ounce matters 😅 3 things I’m no longer bringing: 1. A collapsible camp chair. It only weighs 2 lbs but after hiking 30km, my back would rather carry less than be supported by a chair. Instead I bring a sit pad which is also handy at the door of your tent. 2. Disposable travel toothpaste, I switched to tablets, they can’t melt or freeze and they’re super light. 3. Band-aids. Instead I use leukotape, it’s stay on for multiple days and can get wet. It’s so good to prevent blisters. I only bring enough to wrap around my lighter a few times. I use a peice of gauze under the tape if it has to be treated first and is not just preventive on my heels.

When the weather changes unexpectedly ⤵️ I thought about not sharing this story but it was an important survival lesson for me that hopefully can help at least one person understand the severity of this type of adventure and to be prepared. 10 essentials: 1. Navigation (phone map, Bivy satellite messenger, compass) 2. Headlamp 3. Sun protection (sun hoody and sunscreen) 4. First aid 5. Knife 6. Fire (ferro rod and lighter) 7. Shelter (emergency blanket/bivy) 8. Extra food 9. Extra water (water filter) 10. Extra clothes (not cotton so it doesn’t hold moisture and make you cold) Other items for this trip: - 30L Dry Bag @maddleboards - Kayak conversion kit (seat and paddle) @maddleboards - Stand up paddle board 10’6” by @maddleboards Subtitles: My dog and I are going to paddle across the entire lake Okanagan. Rattlesnake island is the only island on this massive lake and it can only be accessed by boat, about 3 miles (5km) across the lake. The next day was supposed to be good weather so I strapped my kayak conversion seat to my board and we were off. We’re about half way and now that I’m in the middle of the lake and there’s no boaters around I’m starting to realize that this water is very dark and I can’t see what’s under me and it’s a little sketchy. After an hour and a half we make it to the other side. No one was around except the occasional boat and it was turning out to be a great adventure. We explored the abandoned island that’s surrounded by a provincial park so the only way out is to paddle back… and then, the wind started to pickup unexpectedly. We got about a quarter way back and the waves were so powerful no matter how hard I paddled we weren’t go anywhere. So I turned back. I had the 10 essentials so I debated cowboy camping for the night but luckily I was able to flag down a lonesome jet ski who found a random boat who could take us back to the other side. I thought about not sharing this story but it was an important survival lesson for me that hopefully can help at least one person understand the severity and to be prepared.

  3. I bought a remote cabin in the woods 🥹!!! “Where do I want to live” was a question I’ve asked myself everyday since I left for uni 10 years ago. I moved across the country and visited countless places trying to find somewhere that felt like home. This is the first and only property I’ve ever looked at and immediately knew “this is it!!! This is where I want to exist”. I posted a full tour on my YT if you want to see more. I started these channels off camping and hiking tips and will forever be grateful to keep growing with you and share everything I learn along the way. Don’t worry, there will still be lots of adventures and camping tips!! Parker and I will be will be renovating the existing cabin ourselves. And one day we hope to build a home on this property that’s actually considered a house in the eyes of the government 😂.

  2. Save for planning your next adventure ⬇️ This is gorgeous walk re-opened about a year ago and the new boardwalk at the end has made the trail much safer and added an awesome swimming area! Location: Fairy Falls Track, Waitakere ranges 🚗 The track starts off Scenic Drive about 20 mins from Henderson. 🥾 Distance is approx 3.2km return via the same track ⏳️ It will take you approx 1.5hrs return. (Allow 2hrs if taking a toddler 🤭) 🏔 Elevation gain is approx 200m (it's all uphill on the way back so keep that in mind) 🌿 take your swimsuit!   3. The lookout track has reopened! Full location guide ⬇️ This valley with its otherwordly rock formations blew my mind! It was used to film the Paths of the Dead in the Return of the King and it looks just as epic in real life. 📍 Putangirua Pinnacles Ridge Track 🚗 Getting here is about 2 hours to drive from Wellington 🥾 Allow 2-2.5 hours return for the hike (about 45mins-1hr to the lookout point on the ridge track). Expect lots of stairs. Holiday review: Bella Italia, Lake Garda If you are looking for a budget friendly holiday with loads to do and places to explore, then I would highly recommend this fantastic @eurocampholidays The first thing that appealed to me was that car hire is not needed. Bella Italia is only a 20 minute taxi ride away from Verona Airport and only 2km away from the nearest town of Peschiera. The resort itself is big and we chose to stay in this comfortable safari tent, which is Eurocamp’s cheapest accommodation option. It was also literally only a one minute walk from the lakeside beach. We are happy in tent accommodation, but there are plenty of lodge options if canvas isn’t for you! One thing Bella Italia is know for is its huge pool complex. It is so much fun with water features and slides for big and little kids. Also, to keep the kids happy, you will find a kids’ club and a mini fairground. Our favourite thing was the lakeside beach. It felt amazing to swim in the warm, clear, fresh water and we loved the paddleboard and pedalo hire, which was very reasonably priced. I am not the type of person to stay in one place, so we did plenty of trips too: We took a boat from peschiera to Sirmione, an absolutely stunning Garda town where we visited the waterfront castle, are gelato and fresh lemonade (and I got a bit of a taste for Aperol Spritz) The kids really enjoyed visiting the zoo, Parco Natura Viva, where we were able to spend all day exploring and playing. There is a safari option too, if you do decide to hire a car. I couldn’t go to this part of the world and not go to Venice. We took the train, which was clean and easy to navigate, and enjoyed a beautiful day in this bucket list city. And, oh my word, the food. I had so many delicious meals and the kids were more than happy with all of the pizza and pasta.   3. Lumiere, the UK’s leading light art biennial is back in Durham from 13th-15th November with 26 installations lighting up the city and wider County Durham area. The pieces range from large scale commissions by renowned international artists to community projects made by people from Durham. I was invited along for preview night. I would recommend getting their early and downloading the Lumiere app for the latest information. If you don’t have a ticket, you still don’t have to miss out. Half of the installations are outside of the ticketed area, including at Locomotion in Shildon which is area a 25 minute drive from the city centre. If you are travelling to Durham City, car parking will be extremely busy. I would advise making use of the park and ride bus services which are open later than normal and running more frequently for the event.   3. Our journey ! Lonzo used to really struggle with dogs rushing in to his space. If it was a male dog his go to choice was aggression. Initially it really stopped us doing anything. But then I made a promise that we would work through it and I would give Lonzo the life he deserved. After much work on myself, becoming a better dog handler, advancing my training knowledge as well as working on Lonzo we got to where we are now! But I think it’s important to remember these more challenging parts of the journey and to share them too. Too many people only share the best bits which can make you feel quite isolated if you’re helping your dog work through something. The first clip is hard for me to watch. So many things I have learned since then. So many things Lonzo has learned since then! As you can see by the end of the video. We still have down days. They get less and less.   2. Zwischenstand meiner Bettkonstruktion. Was soll ich mal wieder sagen 😅 Ende letzten Jahres wollte ich fertig sein und jetzt ist es Anfang April 🙆🏽‍♀️ aber ich Liebs jetzt schon. Zwar musste ich meinen eigentlichen Plan über Board werfen aber so gefällt es mir richtig gut. Es soll aber nur dann als Bett dienen wenn ich nicht im Aufstelldach schlafen kann. Die Liegefläche beträgt 84x202 🙌🏼 Das Bett besteht 100% aus der super leichten Queenply vom @plattenladen.eu und es ist wirklich ein Traum damit zu arbeiten.   3. 🎉 Die Bodenplatte liegt! 🎉 Wie könnte es auch anders sein, ich hab mich für die Queenply Bodenplatten vom @plattenladen.eu entschieden. Da die Caddy’s ja oft untermotorisiert sind war es für mich sehr wichtig, dass der Ausbau so leicht wie möglich wird. Bei meinen Recherchen kam ich auf die Queenply von Sven Bauhaus. Zum Glück liegt das Lager in der Nähe von Münster und ich konnte mich selbst von der Qualität und der Philosophie dahinter überzeugen. And as the night progresses and you keep staring out with your torch, you get to see two glowing eyes and then the whole body - sometimes of a deer, sometimes an elephant and sometimes even a leopard! Here’s my most surreal experience from Wayanad - a night at @stingraytribe The concept is built around leaving no trace in the nature through responsible and ecological camping. Try loving your body in all shapes and sizes and watch the magic begin to happen. This body has ran half marathons, it’s lifted 100kg deadlifts, its climbed mountains, it’s competed in duathlons (and won), it’s been broken and put through hell. But one thing it’s never done is give up for good.
