  1. NEW RELEASE ALERT‼️ Ardbeg 10 Year Old Cask Strength - Committee Release Whisky 🥃 𝙰𝚋𝚘𝚞𝚝 📝 : Created in response to years of requests from Ardbeg’s loyal Committee, this special edition takes the distillery’s classic Ten and presents it in its most natural, undiluted form. Matured for 10 years in hand-selected American oak ex-bourbon casks, including barrels filled at an unusually high spirit strength, the whisky is drawn straight from the cask without reduction, allowing the full weight of oak and peat to speak for itself. By bottling the spirit at cask strength, Ardbeg showcases the raw intensity of its Islay character and the deeper wood interaction that comes from higher-strength maturation. It’s a purer snapshot of the distillery’s smoky house style, shaped only by time, oak and the island’s coastal warehouses. Released exclusively for Committee members, this edition honours both Ardbeg’s 200-year heritage and the devoted community that helped bring it to life. ❄️ Non Chill Filtered 🖍 Natural Colour 𝚂𝚝𝚛𝚎𝚗𝚐𝚝𝚑 💪 : 61.7% 𝙲𝚘𝚕𝚘𝚞𝚛 🌈 : Light Gold 𝙽𝚘𝚜𝚎👃🏼 : Fruity and coastal, light lemongrass, green apples, salty sea breeze, red fruits, vanilla pod and charred oak 𝚃𝚊𝚜𝚝𝚎 👅 : Strong sweet vanilla flavours accompanied by huge lashings of burnt ashy oak unveiling pineapple chunks, bitter dark chocolate, orange peel and black pepper 𝙵𝚒𝚗𝚒𝚜𝚑 🏁 : Oak ashes, dry fruit peels, saline and vanilla 𝚃𝚑𝚘𝚞𝚐𝚑𝚝𝚜 💭 : Ardbeg 10 but on volume 11, this cask strength version really packs a punch in both power and flavour. It is hard hitting but it really delivers some great flavours and complexity with it. It’s something that fans have been asking for, for a while, it’s just a shame it’s taken so long for it to arrive. If you’re interested in it you’ll only have a little longer to wait as this committee release is available from the 24th February 2026 and will retail at around £75 𝚂𝚕à𝚒𝚗𝚝𝚎! @ardbeg @ardbeg_usa // Gifted

  3. Glengoyne 16 Year Old Mizunara Oak Whisky 🥃 So I recently was unable to attend the Glengoyne event where they showcased this release largely due to not being invited 👀 Fortunately though somebody left a dram in a glass so I was lucky enough to be sent that and a photo of the bottle… all jokes aside, here’s the review. 𝙰𝚋𝚘𝚞𝚝 📝 : Part of Glengoyne’s Oak Masters’ Series, this release was aged for 16 years with a two stage wood journey: for the first ten years the spirit matured in classic first fill sherry and refill bourbon casks, laying the firm foundation, then spent a six year finish in rare Mizunara oak casks from Hokkaidō. (Mizunara is prized Japanese oak that’s notoriously difficult to work with due to its grain, moisture and cost.) This careful maturation shows how the mellow fruit led character of Glengoyne can be elevated by the fragrant woods, sandalwood, soft vanilla and blossom that Mizunara brings to the mix. ❄️ Non Chill Filtered 🖍 Natural Colour 𝚂𝚝𝚛𝚎𝚗𝚐𝚝𝚑 💪 : 53.4% 𝙲𝚘𝚕𝚘𝚞𝚛 🌈 : Burnt Copper 𝙽𝚘𝚜𝚎👃🏼 : Great nose, all those typical Glengoyne notes are floating around, caramel chocolates, cinnamon, fruit cake and then you’re hit with with a wave of oak spices, pineapple chunks, watermelon and strawberry laces. There’s an undertone of liquorice too. It’s a complex nose! 𝚃𝚊𝚜𝚝𝚎 👅 : Delightful, the flavours transform in your mouth from vibrant oak spice, sharp pineapple, sweet chocolate truffles, vanilla pod, black treacle, coffee grinds and cinnamon 𝙵𝚒𝚗𝚒𝚜𝚑 🏁 : More treacle with that liquorice we had in the nose, dry fruits and leftover Christmas cake with custard 𝚃𝚑𝚘𝚞𝚐𝚑𝚝𝚜 💭 : I’m not going to lie, I expected this to be gimmicky and disappointing but it is honestly a fantastic whisky. I was pretty impressed with the complexity in this one and it feels like it changes with each sip. It’s such a shame on the price point though, £300 rrp, ouch, did Mizunara oak really cost that much to import in 2019 or whenever it was!? It’s nice but not £300 nice. 𝚂𝚕à𝚒𝚗𝚝𝚎! @glengoyne // Gifted

  1. In March 2026, the Keepers of the Quaich, the prestigious international society dedicated to celebrating Scotch whisky, inducted Malcolm Offord. Mr Offord had become Leader of Reform UK Scotland six weeks earlier, on 15 January 2026. Reform UK’s published platform includes repealing the Equality Act 2010, scrapping DEI frameworks, and its leader has publicly stated that equal marriage was “wrong.” These are not matters of political interpretation. They are on the record. The whisky industry employs, serves, and celebrates people of every gender, sexual orientation, and background. The quaich is a symbol of trust, love, and friendship. Those two things are in tension, and the Keepers deserve to be asked about it directly. After posting about this on my stories on the 7th May, I wrote to them on 11th May 2026. I received no acknowledgement. Please note, this letter does NOT demand the removal of Mr Offord, it asks the Keepers of the Quaich to qualify his appointment in the first place. Why not ask for removal? I believe people/groups should be given the chance to review and take action first, and leave to escalate should it be required. Others in the industry are now raising the same concern. So I’m opening this letter for signatures. If you work in, write about, or care about the whisky industry, and you believe it should be a place of genuine welcome, please add your name. Please copy and paste the link below to go to the letter and add your signature: https://clairevokins.substack.com/p/open-letter-to-the-keepers-of-the This will be available on my substack and via my stories/highlights. Edit 16.09pm 19 05 2026 The KotQ have issued a statement. In my stories and on the substack. Edit 5.55am 20 05 2026 Approx 120 signatures received. 103 happy to be public. Added to the substack post. Sent to the Keepers. Comments turned off now. Thanks to everyone for supporting.

  2. Four ultra rare Scotch whiskies. Up to 48 years old. Under 300 bottles each. 🥃 House of Hazelwood 2026 Hidden away for decades, long before most of us cared about cask types or fermentation… this is whisky that simply waited. For nearly a century, the Gordon family has quietly laid down casks across Scotland, building one of the most remarkable reserves of aged Scotch whisky. Not for release. Not for trend. Just for time. Now, a small part of that history steps forward. The House of Hazelwood 2026 Charles Gordon Collection brings together four rare Scotch whiskies, matured for up to 48 years in traditional dunnage warehouses near Dufftown in Speyside… where cool air, stone walls and patience shaped every drop. The collection: A Different World (1977) – Single Grain Scotch whisky (57.2% ABV) Distilled at Girvan using maize and an unusual cut point, then matured in sherry cask for decades. The result is unmistakable… herbal, green, and unlike modern single grain whisky. The Silent Partner – 47 year old blended Scotch whisky (46.7% ABV) Peat used with precision. Not dominant, but quietly woven into sweet grain whisky and Highland single malt… adding depth without taking over. A Fond Farewell – 46 year old blended malt Scotch whisky (43.8% ABV) Drawn from rare Hogmanay casks, filled on New Year’s Eve in the 1970s. A tradition that has disappeared, but still lives on in the whisky. An Organised Whole – 45 year old blended malt Scotch whisky (47.3% ABV) A study in balance. American oak and sherry casks working together, showing what blending can be when treated as craft. Each expression is limited to fewer than 300 bottles worldwide. In a world that moves fast… this is whisky that never had to. More: houseofhazelwood.com

  2. Remember when you were young? That’s how I feel when I look at the video at the end of this post. You have to make the most of being young. And we have to make the most of these blue sky days and powder as the weather can change overnight - just like it did last night - and we now have thick, heavy snow and wild horizontal winds with deep, dense drifts you sink into. We’re still on skis as it’s the only way to get up and down our track but the change in snow conditions and the change in temperature this week means I’ll be able to get over the hills to visit my mother and into town to get supplies and our internet might work again. In winter our pace of life is determined by the weather - a flurry of activity when we can get out and about, cosying by the fire when we’re snowbound in blizzards, and skiing the hills on blue sky days and powder. Of course, there is work to be done too: Zeki @highlandsurvivalskills still runs his survival courses in the winter and is busy making another horsebox sauna; Yazzie @wilderness_wellbeing_ works for @britishbackcountry in the Cairngorms and will be running her Winter Wellbeing Retreat here at the end of this month; and I am arranging UK dates to promote Food Whisky Life, editing my new podcast, and planning new ways to adapt and move on from writing cookery books for the next 10 years as I can never retire! I remember when I was young. I remember when I didn’t worry about the future. I remember the adventurous spirit and energy I had. I remember raising my children here in long winters on my own. They had to ski in and out to school, basketball and tennis matches, sometimes late at night under a starry sky, other times blindly through a biting blizzard but they never complained. There are so many things I remember because when I was young I lived life. So now that I’m well into my 60s and it’s a new year with new beginnings, I’m going to adopt the words of Pink Floyd and shine on like a crazy diamond’!!! This is my mantra for 2026. Anyone joining me? #pinkfloyd #rememberwhen #rememberwhenyouwereyoung #shineon #shineonyoucrazydiamond #livelife #adapt #newyear #change #mantra #moveon #shinelikethesun☀️ .

  3. A personal battle with mental health was the catalyst for my daughter’s passion to create community and connection in wellbeing retreats at our wee home and at different locations in the Scottish Highlands. When she was struggling she would have loved to have known about the type of retreat she creates and hosts. As a parent you don’t know what your children will do with their lives. Many of us just hope they will find a job they enjoy and that they will be happy. It was painful to watch my daughter, Yazzie, struggle. She loves to be in the mountains skiing and climbing and in the sea swimming or diving, she loves to be with friends - the heart and soul of a party - and she is a very sunny character. Her name, Yaz, means ‘summer’in Turkish. But when a severe skin condition sent her into the abyss I could only provide comfort and hope. It was through her own inner strength that she found a way to turn her battle with mental health into a positive experience for others by creating very special wellbeing retreats @wilderness_wellbeing_ - now an established social enterprise enabling people from all walks of life to join the relaxing, healing space she has created. She is running one of these retreats this weekend but if you would like to know more about Yazzie you can read about our family and the life we have created together in my book, Food Whisky Life @tinshackpress, which is available in all good bookshops and online. #mentalhealth #wellbeing #community #connection #retreats #wellbeingretreats #familylife #lifestyle #sharing #safespace #ourhome #uniqueexperiences #uniquefamily #innerstrength #positiveenergy #socialenterprise #youareneveralone #hope
