  1. ✨CHANGE✨ As many of you will know, my beloved studio, the stupendous (bias…sure) @offtherails.studio hit real big problems and at the beginning of this year we were about five minutes away from shutting down and closing our doors forever. We looked at every possible option of how we could continue and always at the forefront of my mind was not wanting to let anyone down; our clients, teachers, hires and most importantly my family. The support I have received over the past few months has honestly left me speechless. To each and every single person who gave us a hug, talked to us, reached out, texted, called, emailed…you know who you are. Thank you for giving me that fight. You’ll never know what it means. My thoughts. If we don’t change direction, we’ll come to a standstill. And no one likes traffic. So here we are saying goodbye to parts of the OTR studio to embark on a new beginning. Yes it’s a big change. Yes it’s terrifying. Yes it’s unknown. But I’m so excited for what’s to come (if you don’t laugh you’ll cry right?). We’re downsizing within the premises we have already. No longer will we have the first arch you come into and we’ll just have the middle bit; studios 2&3. Our new home. Embrace the newness. Embrace the initial chaos. Embrace the changes. Embrace the unknown. And enjoy the goodbye photo shoot. I’ve no idea what the future of the business holds but I’m sure going to give it a damn good go. I haven’t come this far to give up. Please know we’ve done absolutely everything to make our OTR community continue, so handle with care…it’s a wild ride at the moment! I’d absolutely love for you to come on this journey with me, with us. Yes it’s different, but that in itself is exciting. Well I think so anyway. Remember be kind. Support small businesses. Keep dancing. And just follow your heart. OTR 2.0 let’s go. Cos tonight, is the night, that two (arches) become one (arch). ❤️ Thank you. Love you. I’m off to put Rocco to bed ✌🏼 xx

  2. Creatine 💪🏽⚡️👨🏽‍🔬 Had a lot of people asking me if they should take creatine and I will likely do a separate post for that. But I’ve equally had people ask me if they should increase their daily intake from the recommended 5g/day to 15g-20g/day, 3-4x the usual amount. Why, you ask? Creatine has been heralded as a great supplement for muscle hypertrophy and strength performance for the past 2 decades. [PMID:17908288] In recent years there has been interest in the potential benefits on both bone and brain health 🧠 From a muscle perspective there are two popular dosing protocols which appear to work for most people. Either: - Loading phase of 20-30g for 7 days followed by a maintenance phase of 3-5g thereafter - Skip loading, take 3-5g daily until muscle stores are saturated [PMID:17908288] Less is known about the optimal creatine supplementation protocol for improving bone structure and brain function. The few studies which have looked at this have used higher doses between 8g and 30g per day and there’s been a wide range of differences in both the uptake of creatine into the brain as well as the downstream effects on cognitive function including memory, executive function, attention and processing speed. But on the whole things look positive [PMID:39070254] More studies need to be done to establish the role creatine supplementation could have on brain health. Bottom line: If you supplement creatine for muscle health you’ve got plenty of research backing you up, either load 20g per day for 7 days and then 3-5g daily thereafter or go for 5g daily outright. Combine with resistance training for the muscle and bone benefits. If you want to take higher doses for brain health then 15-30g seems to be the dose but there is not enough robust long term data. You may also potentially experience GI issues at higher doses. Those with health issues should speak to their doctor before starting. Use creatine monohydrate, everything else is just fancy marketing. Pretty much all creatine supplements are vegan but always read the label. #Creatine #Supplement #Muscle #Bone #Brain #Health #Fitness
