  1. tonight was the last evening at @cucina_vitale at ackerstrasse 168b in flingern. a place that was a symbol for flingern, for ackerstrasse. the black slate will now remain empty forever. no more malfatti, no more pasta with neapolitan beef ragout, no more pesce all’aqua pazza, no more fried sage leaves. gianni and birgit vitale and their team organised the last evening service. there was a wonderful surprise menu with many regular guests from the past 26 years. and it was an evening like many others: loud, full of joie de vivre, full of enjoyment and encounters with people with whom you happened to share a table. today the wohnzimmer restaurant is closing its doors for good. what remains are memories of a place where I laughed, discussed, feasted and ultimately lived. the fact that my daughter was able to experience her first restaurant visit of her life here and was part of the service team that served the last evening makes me proud and happy and closes a circle that touches my heart. dear birgit, dear gianni: Grazie di cuore per tutto, per la vostra ospitalità e passione.   2. the wines from @weingut_odinstal are all purist. straightforward, very direct and quite demanding. the breadth and fragrance that weißburgunder often brings with it is completely absent here. the absence of prominent fruit aromas may put some people off. once again, i was absolutely thrilled. a decent kick with typical palatinate acidity, but so harmoniously integrated that it seems perfectly balanced. salty minerality applies to this wine more than most that claim it for themselves. a weißburgunder that breaks with all expectations and rules about this grape variety. but not in a brutal way. more like creating a new dimension. or to put it less dramatically: damn, what fun i had. purchased from the wonderful @eva.de.s from @mission_genuss

  3. franconian. silvaner, of course, one might say. but just silvaner? not at all! the silvaner herbstblut from the young winemaker @weingut_franziska_schoemig in rimpach, north of würzburg, is a natural wine that breaks all the rules. why? it simply cannot be classified into any of the usual categories. except for one: for me, it is a real glou-glou wine. not intellectual, not complicated, and yet in no way insignificant or arbitrary. crafted with absolute precision and sophistication. but also so much fun that the bottle empties faster than you’d like ;-) thank you @fraueiskalt and @herr_mim for this great wine. and that’s not all. it was the perfect accompaniment to tuna steak with beetroot carpaccio.
