  3. The San Jose Cementerio (also called the Cementerio San Jose or the San Jose Cemetery) was established in 1919 as a resting place for East Austin‘s Mexican and Mexican-American population. At the time, cemeteries were segregated, so Mexicans were not allowed to be buried in white cemeteries. Cementerio San Jose served the community through the 1950s. Since it sits on donated land and doesn’t fall under the jurisdiction of the Austin parks department for some reason, nobody is technically responsible for its upkeep. This resulted in the land becoming completely overgrown in the following decades. In the past few years, however, residents of the neighborhood and nonprofits have stepped up to maintain the land. If you’d like to get involved in conservation efforts, you can follow @sanjosecemeteryatx & @atxhispaniccemetery to stay updated on future cleanup days and events. I’ve been asked to talk about the Austin aquarium for so long.. we finally trekked up to North Austin to talk about why you probably shouldn’t be coming here.. it looks fun being able to see and touch all these cool animals but just look them up on the news and you will be convinced otherwise.. if not to protect the animals don’t go to protect yourself and your children… a lot of the enclosures made me so sad it looked like the animals truly need to escape.. a lot of the workers there are nice, well meaning, and just trying to get a paycheck in this economy… But it’s clear that the owners don’t want to provide these facilities with the things that are necessary to keep all these exotic animals and customers safe #austin #aquarium #exoticpets #news #texas

I enjoyed the smaller portions so you can try a ton of variety. Plus if you like it, just order more. We held off on ordering any of the Kan Bbq items that also come with AYCE. We plan to check out their sister restaurant @gen_austintx another day (same owners). My personal standouts were: Wagyu steak - cook this all at once, we eye balled it and it came out perfect - this is a premium a la carte option that’s an extra $35 (absolute must) Soft shell crab - generous portions and my fave appetizer Seared yellowtail sashimi Snowflake salmon Peppered salmon Inari Spicy Tuna (Tofu Pockets) Tom & Jerry Roll Salmon Kama - originally I wanted the Hamachi Kama but that ran out, the salmon was a great alternative Cajun Shrimp Udon pasta was unexpectedly tasty - uniquely interesting I understand with new restaurant opens, give them grace as they’re figuring things out. We were missing some items from our first order. A few of the Nigiri was small on the second round and the rice didn’t hold up well.   2. Checked the newly opened 📍 @umiaustintx Lots of seafood to choose from. My favorites were the frogs legs, salmon, mussels, walnut shrimp, and the salmon sashimi. Food overall was on par with what you’d expect from a buffet. Strategy would be to try to grab items as they come out while it is fresh, so it’s nice & hot. I didn’t do the hotpot option, nor get any crab legs (I was too lazy 😂) and my regret is not getting the ox-tail (a rare find at a buffet) We came during dinner and it’s $39.99/adult. Lunch is $24.99 and has probably 85% of what’s offered during dinner. Note: Brand new owner than the previous buffet that used to be here. They were open to feedback-they just opened a few days ago.

  3. This has been the most fun dining experience of 2024 for us! We had to come back a second time! 📍 @kpotbbqandhotpot is perfect for everyone. Parents, couples, groups, families, for any celebration. For $34.99 it’s hard to beat this amazing deal for AYCE Korean bbq AND hotpot. The service & hospitality is top notch, it’s clean and they keep it fun and interactive. Shout out to Morgan, TJ, Achi and Andy for another amazing experience. Have you been yet?! We still have to karaoke here🎤 😂

I put everyone in a white t-shirt and we said “GO” and let the kids start shooting their water guns 🔫 ! Our dear friends on vacation with us, were there to helping fill up the water guns, taking photos and they even wore home blue-sprayed clothes, like we did! Talk about loyalty 😂.   2. HE’S HERE!!! 🙌🏼💙🫶🏼👶🏼🎉👏🏼 part 1 We are so happy to announce that our precious baby boy is here!!!! Baby COLT was born on November 7th at 7:02pm. 8 lbs, 10oz of pure gentle love! 💙 Our birth with Colt was completely unlike anything we had ever experienced before! It was a journey, labor & delivery that almost broke me 🥹. But of course our Heavenly Father held all the pieces together in the palm of His hands 🤲🏼 and carried us through to the end! I woke up at 3am Wednesday morning, 42 weeks pregnant, with contractions in full confidence I was FINALLY in labor and this was it! The midwives arrived at 6am, but unfortunately contractions had slowed down. They had me drink another round of castor oil (this was the 3rd!) to try to get contractions going again. @thedanielcrouch & I went for 2 walks, took a nap, and did all the things to try to keep labor going. Contractions finally picked up again and things were going well, until the midwives noticed that Colt’s heartbeat would decelerate when I was in certain positions. After lots of consideration they decided to call 911 and have me transferred to the hospital by ambulance 🚑. I was heartbroken. All of a sudden, my heart, vision, plans, desire for a peaceful home birth and water birth were completely out the window. It just felt so dramatic. I had ultimate peace that Colt was fine. We had been through something similar before with Shi’s heartbeat dropping in labor & she was fine. But nonetheless, Daniel and I surrendered and agreed to do what was best for baby and follow their guidance. Outside of my house was a fire truck and ambulance with all their lights on 😭. They took me away on a gurney and the tears fell on my cheeks. I texted @britschoff from the ambulance and she immediately called and said she was on her way to the hospital. She & @moments_withmeg showed up as soon as we got there, slept in the waiting room & didn’t leave our sides until Colty was born. 😭😭😭 talk about sisters. 💓 We worshipped in the labor & delivery room. We read scripture. We did lunges, drank coffee and ate snacks. Daniel & I will NEVER forget them being part of the BIRTH TEAM! 🫶🏼 #birthstory #hisglory

Dear Prayer 🙏🏼 Warriors - please intercede for our girl! 💗 On Christmas morning, our sweet Shi Shi 🦋 accidentally poured a hot cup of coffee ☕️ on her chest and stomach. 😭 The next morning, sweet baby Colt got sick with coughing and congestion and labored breathing. 😮‍💨 Before we knew it, we were at Texas Children’s urgent care with concern of Colt being just 7 weeks old and having RSV. And knowing that we could no longer take care of Shiloh’s burn wound on our own. ❤️‍🩹 We are so thankful they ruled out RSV for Colt - praise God!!! We are giving him breathing treatments at home and watching him very closely! He’s getting better every day! The next day we were sent to a pediatric plastic surgeon for Shiloh and prior to going, we prayed that God would give us the right doctor and that they would have the right protocols for her. The doctor and his team are amazing and truly angels! 🥹🥹 He put a antimicrobial silver foam dressing on it that we only have to change every other day, which is a huge blessing because the changing of the dressings was very traumatic & painful for her when it would stick, etc. We change it once ourselves tomorrow and Shi goes back in on Friday. We are praying for it to look really good, healing and clean on all fronts in Jesus’ name!!!! 🙏🏼🙌🏼🫶🏼 These are the three things we need you to pray for... ❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹 1. Please pray that the entire wound is a SECOND-DEGREE BURN & NO PART OF IT IS THIRD-DEGREE. Third-degree burns require skin grafts, etc. but second-degree burns heal on their own. 🙏🏼 2. Please pray that there is NO SCARRING. Since the area is on her chest where she will develop later in life, scarring could impact her development. We need no scarring. 🙏🏼 3. Please pray for NO INFECTION WHATSOEVER in Jesus’ name. Of course, this would be very painful for her and also increase the risk of scarring. Please pray for no infection whatsoever in Jesus’ mighty name!!! We have FULL FAITH that God is going to heal her completely. Mark 11:22-23 And that we will see a MIRACLE STORY for HIS GLORY!!! Thank you to our village who has already stepped in so much! 🙏🏼 We love you! ♥️ Linds & Daniel #pray

They are meticulous from the high quality tea leaves which are brewed fresh for every drink, to the careful weighing of ingredients. The boba is carefully crafted, slow-cooked for 90 minutes and kept only for 3 hours to ensure the freshest taste. Because of their thorough processes, it can sometimes be a bit of a wait but the outcome is well worth it! You can actually the ~real~ flavor of tea which is something I really appreciate. Chicha San Chen was awarded the “Superior Taste Award” by the International Taste Institute 2021, what some may refer to as the equivalent of three Michelin stars.   3. Ramen, redefined. . . As I embarked on my culinary exploration, I found myself stumbling upon a hidden gem of a restaurant, Ramen Del Barrio. Led by the illustrious Chef Christopher, the establishment specializes in harmoniously fusing Mexican and Japanese cuisines to create a unique culinary experience. With a menu boasting Mexican inspired Japanese ramen, such as the Carnita Tonkotsu Shoyu, Mole Tsukemen, and Tomatillo Kosho Mazemen, each bowl is meticulously crafted to perfection. My taste buds were tantalized by the following bowls: 🍜 Carnita Tonkotsu Shoyu A delectable blend of pork belly and buche carnitas, elevated by the spicy kick of chile toreado and the savory essence of grilled onions. 🍜 Menudo Tonkotsu This bowl, featuring hominy and honeycomb tripe, was further enlivened by the rich and complex flavors of Guajillo salsa. 🌮 In addition to the ramen, we were privileged to sample three tantalizing tacos: Yaki Tacos with Lengua, Spanish Octopus and Pork Belly, and a special Tostada that surpassed all expectations. It is Chef Christopher's innate love and appreciation of both Mexican and Japanese cuisine that culminated in his inspired idea to fuse them together, resulting in a truly unique dining experience. It is worth noting that Chef Christopher's journey began humbly in his garage, and has since blossomed into the masterful culinary creations that I had the pleasure of indulging in at Ramen Del Barrio. I intend to savor the rest of the items on the menu on my next visit, especially the Mole Tsukemen.
